Agreeing With God and His Word

When harassment and affliction and irritations and attacks reach their peak, the enemy is defending the threshold of promise. He fights dirty and he is persistent. biblepagereadHe will start fires and battles just to distract us and delay us, hoping we will get exhausted or lose direction or miss God’s timing. May we remember these wars are about character issues even though evil and circumstances seem to be the problems. The key to prevailing is to agree with God and His word. The strategy to prevail is to submit ourselves to God and trust Him. That breaks down to our daily behavior. We cannot ignore godly counsel. We cannot make our decisions based on how we feel instead of what we know to be true. We cannot mouth our discouragements and frustrations and fears, (thereby giving them strength through agreement). We cannot forget His principles and try to survive by our zeal or stubbornness. We dare not exchange the promise of God for a bowl of relief as Esau did. —Kathy Gabler

A New Place of Trust

(Kathy Gabler)—It took a few weeks for me to realize that in order to stay still I had to get to a new place of trust in God.  I had to willingly and actively keep trust in the cross-hairs of my awareness.  I began to picture trust as that middle point on a seesaw where you are neither up nor down.  In that place, circumstances cannot get you uptight in high anxiety with your whole body stressed and straining, nor can the situation cause you to hit the bottom in despair or discouragement or depression.  Trust is a place where you do not live by what you SEE or SAW but by confidence in God and His steady, unmovable faithfulness.  From that early morning conversation, I had learned that I would have to stay alert and rein in my thoughts in obedient follow-through daily, if not hourly.  (Fourth excerpt from Kathy’s article “Trust Gives God Access” Vol.22Iss3)

Endure and Accomplish

Discouragement is not a daily diet requisite. You were not born to just barely get through each day. So, I pray that you maintain your confidence in racewinningGod and His will for you as you face every trial and discouragement. May the risen Christ help you endure and accomplish all He has designed for you to walk in. (Heb.10:35-36, Amp)  “Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.” We are praying you discover daily that you are walking more and more in that for which you were born.

Getting Back on Track

TrainBackOnTrackWhen the depth of what Peter has done with his denial of Jesus hits him he becomes discouraged, confusion sets its murderous claws deep into his pummeled brain and frustration launches forth a caustic invocation of evil reprisal (*Mk 14:71). His failure beats him mercilessly from one side of his conscience to the other and the result is that he abandons the original promise and purpose for his life. As he wanders off into the unfocused mist of a confused night of shot-values and vanishing commitments he resigns himself forever to be merely a workaholic on an obscure fishing boat, convinced he was no more than a false dreamer all along. Now, getting back on track will be getting back to the realization that already hit him months ago before the fire of testing burned this hot, getting back to “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the Words of eternal life.” (Jn.6:68)

Standing Up Again

HelpingUp

As the people of God assemble today may the
hope in our Lord’s Name and presence cause
to stand erect those who are bowed under discouragement.

“The Lord upholds all those [of His own] who are
falling and raises up all those who are bowed down.”
