KATHY—Like a cunning lawyer, a bully will distort the truth to his advantage. If he presents an either/or solution, you can be sure he is not presenting the whole picture and you would be foolish to embrace the “either” or the “or”. Israel stood captive in the prison of “either/or thinking” that a bully had built. We must not be deceived by any contrary circumstance or by any opposing force or by any bully into believing that life has come to an either/or box that God cannot get into! Either/or thinking that is defined by our opponent is designed to cause tunnel vision. The either/or thinking that comes from darkness shuts down any revealing light, any expectation and any God-based faith. Such either/or thinking closes the door to options and will never factor in Almighty God! Only in hind-sight can workers of darkness see that they cannot factor Almighty God out! Goliath had a whole army believing: EITHER you come as healthy slaves OR you will be drug along as wounded-in-battle slaves! No wonder Israel stayed in indecision for over a month! And no wonder Goliath patiently pursued his agenda for over a month: the big bully was psychologically turning warriors into slaves on a daily basis.

Melissa—You are no longer under subjugation of fear, diagnosis, lack, delay, the past, oppression, depression, or even snares in your bloodline. You’re on a new page of your life. Just know that things are about to get amazing and shift in ways we cannot imagine. This may seem like a crazy thing to say in the middle of a year that is so chaotic but the truth is far more powerful than the lie. While we are weighing all these issues that are challenging us today, we best begin with a firm decision on where we stand for life’s answers and guidance. Do we just embrace the present, loudest, demanding narrative or do we require all entities, all viewpoints and all persons to be measured by the ruler of the Word of God? 2Tim.4:3-4,TPT—”For the time is coming when they will no longer listen and respond to the healing words of truth because they will become selfish and proud. They will seek out teachers with soothing words that line up with their desires, saying just what they want to hear. 4 They will close their ears to the truth and believe nothing but fables and myths.” I heard it said recently that “truth sounds like hate to those who hate the truth”. The prophecies, philosophies, doctrines and narrative (in every area of life) that are so abundant at this time must be, first of all, held up in the light of the Bible, not just simply assimilated into our thinking and practice. It is apparent that the unchanging God of heaven and earth requires that His people hold to His Word, the Bible, and insist that all other things and people be measured by its standards and principles. The following Scriptures are very clear on that matter. 2Tim.2:15-”rightly dividing the word of truth”; 2Tim.1:13-”Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me…”; Rom.16:17-”…watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.”; 1Jn.4:1- ”…do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits…” [How do we “test the spirits”? By putting them and their words and their actions up against Holy Scripture. If Scripture does not embrace them and their words and actions, neither do we.]; 2Pe.1:20- ”…no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation.” (Part 2 of 8)

Melissa — Truth and relationship with the Lord is about your meditations, thoughts, words, prayers. Are your thoughts and prayers abounding from His truth or the latest from Fox, CNN, Facebook, or Twitter? A safe and healthy place from which to operate your day is praying in tongues throughout. It’s the perfect prayer not swayed by national or family events. It’s the perfect prayer not swayed by the soul. In fact, don’t limit it to that. You may think you’re praying about what is concerning at the moment, but the Spirit prays what needs to be prayed at the moment whether it be for that particular situation or something completely different. Thank God that type of prayer cannot be touched by soulish fears and desires. That is exactly why it is perfect! God knew what He was doing when He gave us such a gift. Yes, I’d say it’s for today. My thought, the soul might say otherwise because it can’t control it. Ok, I’ll just leave that right there and wrap this up. It’s time to call on Him. It’s time to see great and mighty things. It’s time to be great and mighty things.

Melissa — It’s going to take loving the Truth (which is a Person—THE Person) to see great and mighty things for which an earth is groaning (Romans 8:17-19). It’s going to take some calling on that Person which requires relationship, not curbside pickup. And relationship takes time, time out of your day. This does not mean you have to set aside hours and hours every day. That is not a bad thing if that’s where you are currently, or a season you are headed into. Other than that, a relationship is all day everyday.

Kathy — If we just talk about what we sense or what is going on, that is like laying a ticking bomb in the laps of others instead of diffusing it! Anything that is contradictory to God’s will should be confronted with God’s Truth. The Truth is Jesus. The truth is His Word and character and purpose in earth as in heaven, and we can speak it and release it as a counterforce to contradictions, and it will make a difference. As believers and sons of God we cannot be more focused on conditions than the Truth. If we intend to pray in faith, we must think according to His Word and principles and character, instead of falling into being upset over circumstances.

Kathy — Apostle Paul put the issue in these descriptive terms: “we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere” (Eph.6:12, AMPC). Discerning works or workers of darkness may not always be as obvious as in the showdown between Moses and the Egyptian magicians. It will not always be their acts and abilities that expose workers of darkness, but being confronted with truth and light will always reveal their motive and their source of power. The showdown between Moses and the magicians exposed everything.

There has been a proliferation of evil unleashed upon the earth and every nation is reeling from its blast. Many are taking precautions that have radically changed their routine. But evil cannot be tolerated and we must not ever resign ourselves to learn to live with it. Staying close to home or beefing up security will not solve anything. We will find in days to come that we must deal with evil. Prov.14:22, TPT — “Haven’t you noticed how evil schemers always wander astray? But kindness and truth come to those who make plans to be pure in all their ways.”

As the people of God assemble today may they look to the Word of God and may they stand on and trust Yahweh’s truth alone and reject all false estimations and all false predictions. “…right and wrong, truth and error, are about to come into open and deadly collision; and the day is coming when all hidden things shall be disclosed, 
everything seen as it is, and every one have his due (JFB)”. While those in darkness would do well to heed that undeniable truth, it would serve the sons of God well to heed Isaiah’s assurance: (Isa.60:1) “ARISE [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you–rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! [Zech. 8:23.] 2 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness [all] peoples, but the Lord shall arise upon you [O Jerusalem], and His glory shall be seen on you. [Isa. 60:19-22; Mal. 4:2; Rev. 21:2, 3.] 3 And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” (Amp) While we observe much that is undesirable being revealed, we don’t fear it, we declare the Light while being light and salt (Matt.5:13-14).

WE WILL BE MORE AWARE THIS YEAR. Kid’s Version: We will believe God’s truth over everything else. The Lord will enable His people to be aware because there will be people attempting to dupe them, con them, use them. This 
coming year we will not just slough off “feelings” or a “sense of uneasiness”. We won’t do some religiously or politically correct thing and chide ourselves for “judging”. But we will weigh and measure people and circumstances against the unfailing truth of the Bible. 1Cor. 2:15–But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], Prov.2:7-8, NLT –7 He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. Our God created us to have fellowship with Him and it should be obvious that He is Spirit (Jn.4:24). According to John, the only way to worship this Spirit God is to worship Him in spirit and truth. Many have been drawn to the supernatural and to darkness trying to fill the void which should be full of spiritual worship to Almighty God. Rick Joyner writes, “If this is not fulfilled by the Spirit of Truth, who leads us to worship the Lord in spirit and truth, we will be deceived by the spirit of error.” The great writer C.S. Lewis observed, “If you deny a man food, he will gobble poison.” “If we deny people access to a proper supernatural relationship with God, they will succumb to the oppression and seductions of evil supernatural power.” (Joyner)

Protesting is getting louder and nastier but the truth still contradicts those who despise it. The truth will never go away and it will never be compromised. Truth will never be put on the auction block. The longer the representatives of God’s truth stand in “Pharaoh’s court” and speak truth, the greater the number of “snakes” will manifest themselves. But God’s rod in Aaron’s hand swallowed up Pharaoh’s undesirable, intimidating snakes. (Ex.7:8-12 and Matt.10:26) We will see even more and nastier snakes manifest before all this is over. But they must manifest before they are swallowed up in authoritative truth.

If we just talk about what we sense or what is going on, that is like laying a ticking bomb in the laps of others instead of diffusing it! Anything that is contradictory to God’s will should be confronted with God’s Truth. The Truth is Jesus. The truth is His Word and character and purpose in earth as in heaven, and we can speak it and release it as a counterforce to contradictions, and it will make a difference. As believers and sons of God we cannot be more focused on conditions than the Truth. If we intend to pray in faith, we must think according to His Word and principles and character, instead of falling into upset over circumstances. —Kathy Gabler

As the people of God assemble today, may they hear and feed upon the life-giving, life-enhancing, life-changing Word of God. May they take it out the door with them and into the week ahead. May they not lose their grip on it and may Its effective truth stick to them like glue through the whole week, through every circumstance, through every encounter.
