What of the New Year? — Paths & Old History

16-This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves…

18-“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history.

19-Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,  rivers in the badlands. (Isa.43:16, 18-19, Msg)

Eye Shall Be Single

clothThis is the day the Lord has made so…

I will rejoice and be glad and my eye shall be single in it.

“Single” here is with reference to a piece of cloth having only one fold and infers a

“single-minded” devotion to God, with one’s heart set on God alone.

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” (Matt.6:22)

Grow Strong In Spirit

jesus_templeThis is the day the Lord has made so….

I will rejoice and be glad and grow strong in spirit and be filled with wisdom in it.

Jesus was born with purpose and so are we. From the beginning, He not only grew physically but in His spirit and in wisdom for what was to come.

One of our major goals for our children in 2013 should be to see them filled with the Spirit and to train them in godly wisdom.

“And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of God was upon Him.” (Lk.2:40}

Tidings To All People

Unto you is born this day a Savior, Christ the Lord.” (Lk. 2:10-11)

Discussing The Rock

Smith BoulderDiscussing The Rock

What percentage of the minutes and hours of conversation over the last week did you spend discussing and describing the things that seem to be threatening the nation and the church? After calculating that, then calculate what percentage of time was spent discussing Jesus the Rock. I am certainly not advocating we stick our head in the sand. Being informed is wisdom but negative headlines are not supposed to be the major focus and attention-getter for the child of God. David mentioned his enemies in the Psalms but they were not his major focus. He said things like, “From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, the Lord’s name is to be praised” (Ps 113:3) That would take up a great deal of time.

Emails and Face Book posts definitively describe “this” that is expected to happen and “that” which is said to be inevitable. But before any of those persons or entities existed, Jehovah God said, “I lay in Zion a Chief Cornerstone” (1Pe 2:6). Jesus is the Rock and He is greater than anything that opposes you, your family, your church, your community or this nation.

Chosen By God

photo-boulderChosen By God
God has chosen the Rock, Jesus (1Pe.2:4). The Father chose Jesus to endow Him and to position Him for the benefit of all men. The Bible proclaims that if a man build his house on sand rather than the Rock, that his house will be destroyed by the winds and waves that assault it. Those who “disallow” Him (1Pe.2:4) do not have the solid safety and benefits of the Rock. The only safe place to be is on the Rock (Mt 7:24). He is our solid, unfailing benefit in all of life, especially stormy circumstances. If our hopes are in any person or entity, we stand upon the sand that cannot support a house. Just because there is a lack of righteousness and integrity in certain persons who hold public office does not mean there is nothing solid for us to get our feet on. The Stone does not move; the Stone is the One that moves the image of opposition (Dan.2:34).

Disallowed By Men

people on-rocksDisallowed By Men

“To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious… “ (1Pe.2:4)  It simply does not matter how many or who has “disallowed” the Living Stone. What does matter is that He “is chosen of God” (1Pe 2:4). The result, however, has been nations chafing under the friction of rejecting The Stone and His righteousness. When The Stone is “disallowed” (rejected) then men will fill the void with self-seeking impostors and redemption of men and society are far from us. There is great hope in this verse, for Peter informs us that only men have disallowed The Stone. It was inventive, determined men at Babel who were easily overcome with the simple fact of the confusing of their language so that their intricate agenda was brought to a screeching halt. Not even Goliath could remain standing before the diminutive David (OT type of the NT Christ). The Rock, Christ Jesus is prevailing and as His people stand on Him, they shall prevail against storm and wind no matter who has “disallowed” Him.

Not only is He chosen of God but He is “precious,” i.e., when you have calculated His value and His person, there is more that you have not yet realized. We shall yet see more and more of who this Rock is and what this Rock does.

Counsel Against The Rock

Counsel Against The Rock

When the people groups of earth got together and decided to build a tower unto heaven to gain access to the place of God’s rule, they suddenly found themselves in the middle of a pointless quandary. All God had to do to totally stop their progress was confuse their language. At that point, all their agreement and unity ceased to exist and they dispersed without laying a single brick more. The Tower of Babel became an empty memorial to man’s vain attempts to giant-bouldercounsel together against the purposes of God. Jehovah has purposes in this time in history and in spite of people groups counseling against Him, The Rock will prevail. And concerning the purposes and abilities of Mighty Jehovha, Babel was not a one-time fluke. He can do it again!

2 The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

3 “Let us tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”

4 He who sits in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them. (Ps.2:2-4, NAS)

The Living Stone

big rockThe Living Stone

In Daniel’s writing, he sees Jesus as The Stone (Dan.2:35). By the time we get to the New Testament, Peter is referring to Jesus as the “Living Stone.” To whom coming, [as unto] a LIVING STONE, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, [and] precious… (1Pe 2:4). It is most interesting to note that the only ones “disallowing” the Stone is “men.” In Psalm 2 when “kings of the earth set themselves against the Lord” and “rulers took counsel together” against the Lord, God sat far above them in the heavens untouchable and laughed at those men who had no power to touch the all-powerful God of the heavens. It simply does not matter how many or who has “disallowed” the Living Stone. What does matter is that He “is chosen of God”.

Not Cut Out By Hands

Not Cut Out By Hands

A “formidable image” rose up in a vision one night as King Nebuchadnezar fruitlessly sought sleep. He could not interpret it and was so troubled that he threatened the very lives of his counselors if they could not give him some relief meteorby interpreting the vision. The secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision and he told the king, “There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries” (Dan 2:28).

This “formidable” image inspired fear, apprehension, dread and it was of discouraging strength and size and forceful and powerful. No wonder Nebuchanezar was so disturbed. A collective of nations forming the image in the shape of a man had each sought their own destiny without any consideration for the purposes of Jehovah. The Israel of God, the people of God were but pawns in their schemes.  They had ridden over the tops of other nations; had enslaved and imprisoned untold thousands in their pursuit of power and conquering of nations. Each of the nations making up the image had designs on ruling the world.

There are nations in the world today that desire world-domination. There are ruthless rulers who will stop at nothing to subjugate and enslave nations. Some world-powers have attempted to portray themselves as being formidable that they might more easily conquer.

While Daniel did describe the formidable image to the king, he did not dwell there but went on to describe the Stone that was not cut out by hands (Dan 2:45). The Stone hit the formidable image in the feet and the result was that the formidable image completely crumbled into powder and was blown away by the wind. Since Jesus is the Rock, or in this context referred to as the Stone, Jesus is the one who took out the formidable opposition and He is the same Rock He has always been.

JESUS is the Same Rock He’s Always Been

JESUS is the Same Rock He’s Always Been
Ayers Rock
As I considered all the woes in the world and everything that seems to be out of kilter in our nation and considered all the discouraging emails and endless Face Book posts, I began to pray earnestly for an answer. There readily rose up in my spirit this message: Jesus is the same Rock He has always been.

Opposition to truth and life, the shaking of “everything that can be shaken,” and the difficulties of going onward in a shifting, god-denying culture cannot wear away one grain or one ounce of the Solid Rock we stand on. Jesus is the same Rock Israel stood on in the wilderness, the same Rock Jacob stood on and the same Rock that weathered everything with Apostle Peter and launched him into the miracles of the Book of Acts.

Weapons Formed FOR Us

Weapons Formed FOR Us (Kathy)
No matter how many men or devils form weapons against us, our God has an arsenal of weapons already formed FOR us! One such weapon is His vengeance. Rom 12:19 “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, Blacksmithbut leave the way open for [God’s] wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (Amp) He said He would repay. That makes me smile even as I write it because I realize that we can trust God to take care of business, and He will be right on time and He won’t forget any details.

Another awesome weapon in God’s arsenal is HIS TIMING. “For such a time as this,” is a description of His timing as is “in the fullness of time” and “in due time.” When God’s timing intersects with our circumstances and relationships, it becomes the ultimate weapon to head-on defeat all comers. In due time, the details have been aligned to open the door for the supernatural to prevail over the natural. God’s timing is like the fourth man in the fire, the fourth dimension that ignites an event with His presence and His power and His intent. I believe the dimension of His timing is about to be displayed wide-scale. The veil has been pulled back and the gloves are off as His Timing, the ultimate weapon, is revealed. It is TIME to pierce and pull down strongholds and prevail over changelessness, delays and despair in our lives, in our families, in our spheres of influence and in our nation. The reason to war is to win!

God Sees The Weapons Being Formed

God Sees The Weapons Being Formed (Kathy)

The fact is that our God sees a weapon being formed whether we do or not.  Therefore, He prepares and equips us to defeat that weapon.  At the point that we realize this, we literally neutralize the long-term effect of an attack and turn the situation toward resolve.  When a customized weapon shows up, we need not waste time denying it in the name of faith, but neither do we abide it.  For reasons working-handsunknown, there is a glitch in some people’s thinking that if we cannot deny it, then we cannot defy it.  That prevalent thinking is erroneous and dangerous thinking.  No matter what the conditions or how many battles break out, we must defy until we defeat and we must allow no prisoners.  We place our agreement strategically and emphatically upon the character and power and word of God and allow no creeping “buts” concerning statistics or age or personal history or deserving or “what if?”

Ps.33:18-19
Watch this: God’s eye is on those who respect him,
the ones who are looking for his love.
He’s ready to come to their rescue in bad times;
in lean times he keeps body and soul together.

20-22  We’re depending on God; he’s everything we need.
What’s more, our hearts brim with joy
since we’ve taken for our own his holy name.
Love us, God, with all you’ve got—
that’s what we’re depending on. (The Message)
