As the people of God assemble today may they know with assurance that the powers of darkness can hide for only just so long. May they rejoice that darkness is being exposed just like Pharaoh’s wizards’ serpents and agendas. And as Jehovah God is setting them up for a fall, we can do our part by praying that God will work in lives and bring truth and evidence to positioned people to expose and bring down evil structures. Eph.6:12–“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

About the time of Jesus Israel cries, “Save us from Rome!” Then suddenly, “Bam!” Wind, fire, tongues and spiritual drunkenness hit them. God’s people are once again crying, “Save us!” Get ready for something unusual! Are you ready for the unconventional? Before Moses was born Israel began to cry out, “Save us from Pharaoh!” Then 80 years later there was a suddenly: “Bam!” Snakes, staffs and bull frogs are flying in every direction. Before Jesus was born Israel cries, “Save us from Rome!” Then after 60 yrs. of Roman domination: suddenly, “Boom! Bam!” Wind, fire, speaking in tongues and spiritual drunkenness hit them. Then, following that, all manner of mind-blowing miracles, signs and wonders began to take place wherever the followers of Christ showed up. God’s people are once again crying, “Save us, O mighty God!” So… Get ready for something unusual, something that is unconventional! Are you ready for the unconventional? (Isa.55:8-9) We must have Something which is totally unconventional in comparison to what is already not working here. It will require to be absolutely radical in its makeup and its effect. But it is not being handed to us on a platter labeled “As Usual”, “The Good Ol’ Days”, “Return to 1950’s Revival” It is headed our way in a series of Whirlwinds called “Unconventional”! The items and agendas which make up “conventional” and “typical” are going to be flying in every direction just like Aaron’s staff and Egypt’s snakes and bull frogs. Nahum 1:3— “…the Lord hath His way in the whirlwind”
Kathy — Works of darkness ultimately end in death. God makes the truth even more vivid pointing out to Pharaoh that He could have wiped out the nation rather than just plague it with blood, frogs, gnats, flies, death of livestock and boils. Yet Pharaoh stubbornly held his economic ace, intent upon keeping Israel as slaves. After the hail, Pharaoh was so strung out on his greed that he would not even listen to rational counsel from his own ranks. His own servants asked him if he understood that the plagues had destroyed Egypt and that he needed to get Moses out of the country! After the locusts, the Lord gave them a taste of the deep darkness they were allied with. Pharaoh tried at this point to negotiate saying they could leave but not take their livestock. His greed still blinded him to his hopeless situation. When Moses would not negotiate, Pharaoh banished him and threatened to kill him if he ever came before him again. Moses said, “You have spoken truly; I will never see your face again.” The lesson was over for both nations. The firstborn, the pride, the joy, the hope, the future of Egypt died. Discerning works or workers of darkness may not always be as obvious as in the showdown between Moses and the Egyptian magicians. It will not always be their acts and abilities that expose workers of darkness, but being confronted with truth and light will always reveal their motive and their source of power. The showdown between Moses and the magicians exposed everything.
Kathy — Lovers of darkness worship power. It is interesting that everybody in Egypt was plagued until the magicians stopped competing. Evidently, Israel was also being convinced that worshiping power was not enough. The one true God was to be worshiped. It was the Lord who withheld His grace that would allow Pharaoh to have a change of heart. He was obviously pushing the envelope to teach the truth. In the next plague, God began to show the benefit of being allied with Him. The flies did not reach the Israelites’ region of the city. They were spared for the purpose of demonstrating that Jehovah was Lord in the midst of the earth. Powers of darkness are never noble in their ultimate purpose. They seek to intimidate by demonstrating their skills, and when there are harmful consequences it is of no particular concern to them. But here, God demonstrates that His acts are for His purposes in the earth and that He is drawing a line between those who worship Him and those who worship power. Kathy — The source of their empowerment was limited which revealed it was not Almighty God. When Pharaoh asked Moses to pray the frogs abate, Moses said he would so that Pharaoh would know there is no one like the Lord God. However, Pharaoh recognizing that truth did not make him want to submit to that Lord God. When next came the biting gnats or mosquitoes, the magicians had reached their limit. They could not produce gnats from dirt and certainly couldn’t turn gnats back into dirt. The magicians themselves admitted to Pharaoh then, “This is the finger of God!” We can’t top that! Only God is All-Powerful. All the abilities and manifestations of darkness will forever be limited by comparison.
Kathy — The competitiveness of the Egyptian magicians was destructive to their own nation because their determined pride and worship of power was more important than loyalty or any benefit to their kingdom. In the beginning stages of the showdown, the magicians did the same supernatural acts as Moses, turning their rods to serpents, turning water to blood and producing frogs. It is interesting that the Egyptian magicians could not and did not even try to reverse the plagues loosed by Moses, (which would have been really beneficial to their nation.) Their only goal was to compete in a power display. Instead of trying to help, they simply battled to prove themselves superior, no matter what the cost to their people. Of course, it is also evident that they would not have been able to reverse the plagues. In Exodus 9:11, they could not even keep themselves from the boil plague and you know they would have invoked personal protection and relief to save their own hide if they could! There is a key insight exposed here about the nature of the powers of darkness: they are selfish and competitive. There is no loyalty or benevolence, just worship of power. Being interpreted, that means they will work against each other or their human agent when necessary. The human agent for darkness is totally deceived if he or she believes the powers of darkness will be loyal or trustworthy or ever think about unity of purpose or a common good. God can be trusted that His love and faithfulness insure His power is released for good. Since ONLY God is good, all other sources and agents have lesser motives. No matter how humanely and beneficently packaged, powers of darkness will always be deceptive and ultimately abusive. And those human agents who ally with darkness will ultimately face the hidden but costly consequences of betrayal.
You can be a slave to fear, heritage or habit. In the master-slave relationship there is a demand and response required. Those enslaving factors put demands on you and you spend your days responding. Defeats will linger on in your life for as long as you are willing to learn to live with them. But the Lamb has already been sacrificed and this is your day of walking out! Ex.12:31, NASB — “Then he called for Moses and Aaron at night and said, “Rise up, get out from among my people, both you and the sons of Israel; and go, worship the Lord, as you have said.”
Israel had, for four hundred years, been in a situation where they knew what to expect each and every day. Their surroundings were so familiar that they had become acceptable. Their situation was identifiable. They could understand to the point that they could logically describe it. But “logical” doesn’t mean “necessary”. It was not all that easy to walk away from yesterday — especially something you had “learned to live with.” But you don’t have to learn to live with anything that is not part of God’s purpose. Ps.138:7-8, TPT — “By your mighty power I can walk through any devastation and you will keep me alive, reviving me. Your power set me free from the hatred of my enemies. 8 You keep every promise you’ve ever made to me! Since your love for me is constant and endless, I ask you, Lord, to finish every good thing that you’ve begun in me!”
After a series of very uncomfortable events, Joseph ends up in Pharaoh’s court. National and international disaster of famine threatened on the horizon but he confronted it and contradicted it with preparation. Not only was Pharaoh’s nation saved but Joseph’s as well. In this case, the threat was contradicted before it took place. Preparation and supply contradict lack. Heb.11:7, Msg — “By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.”
Genesis 40:8 says, “It is God who gives the ability to interpret dreams.”I grew up thinking that interpreting dreams was a specialized gift and a calling that God only gave to certain people, but the scripture doesn’t really say that.When we consider Daniel and Joseph, they pursued wisdom.They knew that God had answers and they were confident they could go to God to enlighten them, (and they both said as much.)We too can go to God and ask for wisdom and understanding, and we know that God can release a gift of His Spirit that opens understanding with a word of wisdom or a word of knowledge or discernment or prophecy, etc. –Kathy Gabler

Isa.55:10-11 show us that God’s Word goes through a cyclical process. That prophetic dream Joseph had did not scoop him up and simply whisk him away to Pharaoh’s palace and favor — it was all done through a process. There were pits, prisons, rejection and false accusation to go through before he would reach that place of favor and honor. All of that stuff was processing stuff in Joseph. Joseph managed to stay in the process and God did not let any of that shaping stuff go to waste in his life. Needless to say, Joseph was quite a different person when he got to Pharaoh’s palace than the fancy-dressed boy we first encounter in the story. All of that process squeezed Joseph through a mold which eventually squeezed him out in the form of a father to Pharaoh.
Pharaoh said, “They are entangled in the wilderness.”(Ex14:3) Entangled means “involved”. It would appear that, in the present, they were so worried about rocks, brush and varmints that they forgot about the freedom on the other side of wilderness. “Coming out” may look different and require different decisions and actions than we originally predicted. But going back is not an alternative.
As the people of God assemble today may they realize afresh that Pharaoh’s snakes and their handlers were handled quite effectively by Aaron’s rod (Yahweh’s authority). Yahweh’s heavenly authority exercised through his representatives on earth swallowed up the instruments of threat and intimidation from darkness. Yahweh’s Kingdom is ever-increasing and He still desires His authority to be displayed in the earth to the glory of His name and the advancing of His purposes. ”Pharaoh called in his wise men and sorcerers. The magicians of Egypt did the same thing by their incantations: each man threw down his staff and they all turned into snakes. But then Aaron’s staff swallowed their staffs.” (Ex.7:11-12, Msg)
The ugly, less-than-desirable offensiveness of darkness must be revealed so that the authoritative, superior government of Jahweh may deal with it. That which is hidden in individuals and power structures must be manifested (yes, even in all its ugliness and vile expressions-Mk.4:22). The reason some celebrities and politicians are so opposed to the present administration (and even appear demonized in their reactions) is because the truth of their vileness is being exposed and they know there is more exposure coming. While some in the religious community are loudly voicing the evilness and, therefore, “shortness of the days” we are living in, and while brazen opposition is ferociously attacking all that is sacred, it might behoove the people of the Kingdom of Light to realize that the “nasties” and the “uglies” are being manifest so that, through the sons of God, they may be dealt with (Jn.18:37; 20:21; 1Jn.3:8). We would do well to replace our cries of escapism with declarations of the authority of the risen Christ. Rather than cursing the vileness that is cancerously spreading in the nation, we could declare the known will of God which is life and redemption (Jn.10:10). The superior, authoritative instrument of Jahweh (Aaron’s rod = authority, Ex.7:12) swallowed up the instruments of threat and intimidation from darkness (magicians rods=magicians authority).
We have an unshakeable Kingdom that is ever-increasing and that is why “Pharaoh’s snakes” are manifesting and making a show of themselves with their threatenings and attempting to intimidate. Those of the Light stand up, confront and contradict opposition like the disciples did in Acts 4:29 — “And now they’re at it again! Take care of their threats and give your servants fearless confidence in preaching your Message.” God’s Word, standards and truth will never be drug upon the auction block. I heard it said recently, “Truth sounds like hate to those who hate the truth”. One of my old professors Dr. Anthony Palma wrote a book entitled, “Truth: Antidote for Error”. Truth will contradict darkness and darkness will, in its humanistic determination, defensively and vehemently respond.
Dreams and visions are relentlessly attacked by the enemy until: (1.) they are mature and defeat him or (2.) we relinquish them. Relinquished dreams are no threat to our enemy at all. That is why God raises up midwives who will not sell out to Pharaoh. There is indeed One more desirable and more powerful than Pharaoh. Because God prepared God-fearing midwives, Moses (the offspring of God’s wise planning) was protected, kept alive and led Israel out of Egypt to the promised land.
God is ALWAYS FAITHFUL to raise up midwives to keep His offspring (promise) alive. Be sensitive to recognize them and not drive them away for they will help birth the baby of deliverance for your life. A midwife may be a prophetic word, a song in the night, a teaching or a compassionate person who may have no idea whatsoever that they are the midwife sent by God to help give birth to your deliverance. Protesting is getting louder and nastier but the truth still contradicts those who despise it. The truth will never go away and it will never be compromised. Truth will never be put on the auction block. The longer the representatives of God’s truth stand in “Pharaoh’s court” and speak truth, the greater the number of “snakes” will manifest themselves. But God’s rod in Aaron’s hand swallowed up Pharaoh’s undesirable, intimidating snakes. (Ex.7:8-12 and Matt.10:26) We will see even more and nastier snakes manifest before all this is over. But they must manifest before they are swallowed up in authoritative truth.
Sometimes, in the middle of certain current events, Christians will carry on in such a way as to declare that certain events are evil and will fervently pray that they stop. But there are times when circumstances must come together in such a way that “Pharaoh’s snakes” can be drawn out into the open, so they can be swallowed up (Ex.7:12) in order to set the pattern for what is to come in the deliverance process. If those events do not come about, the “snakes” will stay in their hiding place. “So have no fear of them; for nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, or kept secret that will not become known.” (Matt.10:26, Amp)

Joseph had dreams. He was convinced, at one point, that they were not initiated in his own mind. Joseph is called to great responsibility. He is called to rule Pharaoh’s house. He shared his dreams and calling with brethren and as a result ended up in a pit and later in prison. He just stands there shaking his head. Now he is confused. But after a period of time, which was determined by an all-wise and all-knowing God, he stands before his brothers. They’ve come too late to tell Joseph he is out of God’s purpose. They’ve come too late to tell him that God does not step into the lives and conditions of men and work miracles. Standing before them he proclaims without a single doubt, “You did not send me here. It was to save many lives that God sent me ahead of you” (Gen 45:7).
