We must reach up and get hold of God’s extraordinary which is more than a span of revival meetings that gives us temporary relief from the mundane. The mundane must be invaded in such a way that we do not simply return to it after a brief respite and after things are trying to sink back into “business as usual”.

Convention: “a rule, method, or practice established by usage; custom; accepted usage, especially as a standard of procedure.” One label that fits Jesus very well is 
“unconventional”. “There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like yours.” (Ps.86:8; also Jer.10:6; 1Sam.2:2; Deut.33:26; Ps.74:12; Job 5:9) Jesus’ disciples had observed Jesus praying and had observed the impacting redemptive results He got when He spoke to nature, disease and demons. When they asked Him to teach them to pray, He told them that they should ask for that which is in heaven to be moved into the earth (Matt.6:10). Needless to say, that which is conventional in heaven (God’s will) is going to be unconventional by earth’s standards, practices, methods, rules and usage. And yet, that is what our Lord instructed us to ask for.

What God has started cannot be stopped. His Kingdom is advancing in the earth because He is raising up sons and they, in their generation, are being manifested to meet the groaning of creation (Rom.8:19, 22). The disciples cried out in fear when Jesus came walking on the water because they had not been expecting anything but the ordinary from their extraordinary Savior. We are in an era of history when nothing less than the extraordinary of Heaven is required in the earth. We received a call from a pastor of a small church. There had been several logistical problems leading up to the service time that past Sunday and only a small number of people ended up being in attendance. He was thinking, “Wow, we just barely have enough people here today to have a service.” The service started and a group of strangers walked in and filled one whole row of seats. A few minutes later a man leading a few 
other people walked in and took a seat on the back row. A minute or two later another man walked in with a couple of people. Then a few minutes later yet another man walked in with some people and sat down. By this time the room is about half full. The pastor said that all the people entered into worship and were obviously not strangers to the presence of the Lord. At the end of the service the pastor thought, “I need to get back there and introduce myself and find out who all these people are.” To get quickly to the point, each of those three men were billionaires. None of the three knew each other but each of the three said that God had told them to be there for that service. They had each flown there in their private planes, one of them from Asia—just for that service. They each donated supplies to the church’s disaster relief project where they were ministering to the city. Each of the billionaires had come across the church’s website which presented their outreach to the city and each of them wanted to come and see the church and meet the pastor to see if it all was for real. Later, at lunch, the pastor and his family were talking about what had just transpired. The pastor said, “I just don’t understand what has happened!” and he was literally trembling at the awesome thing God had done. His daughter said, “Dad, don’t you remember the prophecy Marty Gabler gave you two months ago? He said that you should get ready for God to move in extraordinary ways, in ways that you would not ever think of. Peter’s friends were weeping and praying for his release from prison but it is most doubtful that they were visualizing an angel walking in and slapping him on the hip and commanding him to rise up while his chains simply fell off. Which one of them actually pictured in their mind that an angel would simply usher Peter out of that prison like they were going for a Sunday stroll? How can we call this event anything but extraordinary? One of the amazing factors about Peter’s experience is that he was experiencing something that he had never even taught on! There was no popular teaching making the rounds at all the big conferences that taught about the existence of a special squad of jail-breaking angels. When Peter was in prison (Acts 12:7) he had been presented with a great opportunity to be introduced to the Book-of-Acts-norm. In reading that awesome book’s account of the early church, we cannot help but observe that God’s people had been ushered into a new era, an era in 
which they could fully expect to function in ways and means they had never seen the like of. There are things, events and supply in Heaven that Father wants to get into the earth. As the people of God assemble today, may they settle for nothing less than the extraordinary of Heaven in their midst. May they not look to those 
things known only by religious sentiment. It would behoove the disciples of Christ to be aware that they have an extraordinary Savior. When Peter was in prison,

The disciples were not expecting anything out of the ordinary from Jesus when He entreated them to row to the other side of the lake (while dealing 
with the throes of a violent storm). Ps. 50:21 “These things you have done, and I kept silence; you thought that I was just like you; I will reprove you, and state {the case} in order before your eyes.” (NAS) They may have been thinking that He was like them, being subject to the same limitations they were subject to. They were expecting ordinary things from an extraordinary Savior. If only they could have grasped the concept that He is THE MASTER OF THE STORM. After Jesus had calmed the storm in Mk 4:41, they asked one another, “What manner of man is this?” (KJV). The Christmas events were extraordinary. Angels were active and interactive with the characters in the event. Persons of high rank got personally 
involved at great expense. Individuals of lowly birth and lowly means played as important a role as those of higher caste. Divine intervention and protection and wisdom kept the characters in pace and in place. Signs and wonders served to help the characters get into position at just the right time to be supply for Mary and Joseph and the Little One they were privileged to raise up for the saving of a nation.
Let us do far more than delight in the extraordinary events of the Christmas Advent. Let us consider them as that which was initiated to become the ordinary, all year long, for those who would embrace this Extraordinary One born in such an extraordinary way.

What God has started cannot be stopped. His Kingdom is advancing in the earth because He is raising up sons and they, in their generation, are being manifested to meet the groaning of creation (Rom.8:19, 22). The disciples cried out in fear when Jesus came walking on the water because they had not been expecting anything but the ordinary from their extraordinary Savior. We are in an era of history when nothing less than the extraordinary of Heaven is required in the earth. We will expect the extraordinary from our extraordinary Savior in the coming year as we embrace His norm. (Last excerpt from Marty’s article “Embracing a New Era”)
other people walked in and took a seat on the back row. A minute or two later another man walked in with a couple of people. Then a few minutes later yet another man walked in with some people and sat down. By this time the room is about half full. The pastor said that all the people entered into worship and were obviously not strangers to the presence of the Lord. At the end of the service the pastor thought, “I need to get back there and introduce myself and find out who all these people are.” To get quickly to the point, each of those three men were billionaires. None of the three knew each other but each of the three said that God had told them to be there for that service. They had each flown there in their private planes, one of them from Asia—just for that service. They each donated supplies to the church’s disaster relief project where they were ministering to the city. Each of the billionaires had come across the church’s website which presented their outreach to the city and each of them wanted to come and see the church and meet the pastor to see if it all was for real. Later, at lunch, the pastor and his family were talking about what had just transpired. The pastor said, “I just don’t understand what has happened!” and he was literally trembling at the awesome thing God had done. His daughter said, “Dad, don’t you remember the prophecy Marty Gabler gave you two months ago? He said that you should get ready for God to move in extraordinary ways, in ways that you would not ever think of. Peter’s friends were weeping and praying for his release from prison but it is most doubtful that they were visualizing an angel walking in and slapping him on the hip and commanding him to rise up while his chains simply fell off. Which one of them actually pictured in their mind that an angel would simply usher Peter out of that prison like they were going for a Sunday stroll? How can we call this event anything but extraordinary? One of the amazing factors about Peter’s experience is that he was experiencing something that he had never even taught on! There was no popular teaching making the rounds at all the big conferences that taught about the existence of a special squad of jail-breaking angels.
