Melissa—Many times I have heard that awakening is coming. Let me add that, more recently, I have been hearing words about not only awakening coming to the nations but to the church.Well, that also sounded really good and I have been all for that too! Still, being transparent, I wasn’t quite getting it yet.Sometimes it’s easy to point the finger at a church I think isn’t awake.I just know the Holy Spirit is like, “Aww, bless her heart. She thinks she’s awake!” Then He graciously begins to shake me out of my slumber and I can only fall silent in amazement.For this reason He says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine [as dawn] upon you and give you light.” (Ephesians 5:14 AMP) [Part 2 of “Waking Up”]
Melissa—Over the last several years I have heard many times that awakening is coming and I liked the sound of that! I’m all for it! I didn’t realize, however, until very recently that I had a very specific view of what that awakening would look like.Over the last month my perspective is being shifted and awakening is starting to look differently than I originally had it all figured out.So, I’m just going to be transparent about what I realized I was thinking it would look like.
I grew up in the church — like for real, grew up IN the church.My parents, grandpa, and many other family members were and are in ministry and I currently work on staff at my church.I’m saying all of this to help frame where my definition of awakening came from.My initial and long running view of awakening was, for the most part, that there would be some sort of mass experience that would cause people to look for, cry out for, or long for God.They would run to local churches or people they knew were Christians seeking to know their Creator and we would just have glorious services of people getting saved and set free and beautiful times of worship.Now, I’m not saying none of these elements will happen, but this is actually a very limited view of what awakening is.The Holy Spirit has been mercifully expressing that to me. I hope that in the next few posts I write about “Waking Up” we may be able to enlarge our capacity and expectation for the awesome awakening coming upon us and our nation.
Kathy—Almighty God’s Awakening is bringing things to light in the remainder of this year, both awesome and awful things, and it won’t leave any part of culture untouched!In every sphere of life, lust and pride and greed and evil have made monsters that distort and defy the will of God for mankind.But in this Awakening, we’ll see sons of God moving into every mountain of culture to confront and defeat those monsters. On the government mountain, people are already awaking to what political monsters have been trying to do for 100 years.There are those who have been pushing a global agenda to rule the world through lying, cheating, killing, stealing and destroying.We as the Ekklesia must take the keys to the Kingdom and see that they are exposed and deposed and dethroned.
What we need more than better politicians is an awakening move of God… in the Church, then the nation. God will never share, with mere political parties, the power He has designed to be exercised through the Church. “Politicians are not to be looked to for complete social reform… The Church has been losing influence in America because it has been relying on politics to stop the moral and spiritual decay in society. Politics will not catalyze the change; it is simply a reflection of the environment. If the environment is rooted in Christian values, the politics of America will be rooted in Christian values… The spiritual revival and renewal of Christian faith needed in America will never originate from Washington. Once the spiritual climate changes, Washington will be changed. If the American Church thinks her salvation […] comes from Washington and a God-fearing president, then her hope is rooted in a counterfeit… God’s Church is not dependent on elections; it is dependent upon His Word, which declares, ‘… I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.’” (Matt 16:18)1 (Dennis Lindsey, “God and Politics”) If we are not careful, we can just get to looking around and saying, “‘Such and such’ is what’s going on” and forget that God is at work.
We are declaring that hidden and misused facts will be exposed for what they are in near days. We declare that entities attempting to distract from “matters that matter”, by amplifying fringe voices and emphasizing non-essentials, will lose their steam. We declare that the economics of our nation and the mounting waves of hunger for truth and awakening in our nation will not be thwarted by the machinations of darkness. Job 5:12,Amp—“He frustrates the devices and schemes of the crafty, So that their hands cannot attain success or achieve anything of [lasting] worth.” Isa.29:15,Amp—“Woe (judgment is coming) to those who [try to] deeply hide their plans from the Lord, Whose deeds are done in a dark place, And who say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?”
Melissa — Many have been controlled by fear instead of the true intention of God which is freedom from fear that comes through the fear of the Lord. God is waking us up to what He intends for us. He is waking us up to freedom like we’ve never experienced in our nation or world. This explains so much. How can we live in the abundant life John 10:10 talks about if we have a knee bowed in fear of everything at our doorstep? How can we see miracles when we are bowing our knee to the impossibilities mounted against us? How can we leave a winning legacy when we count ourselves among the doomed statistics of disease and age and depletion and debt? It’s really starting to make sense why we have only seen glimpses of effectualness. Many have been under the control of the enemy who planted subtle deposits of fear for years through platforms to which we’ve given our trust and they didn’t work. But now it’s our time. We get to be alive for this! What, Where, Why, How, When — WHAT we need more than better politicians is an awakening move of God. WHERE we need that move of God is in the Church. WHY we need that move of God (perhaps it might better be labeled a reforming move of God) is because, having lost sight of our purpose in the earth, the church is bemoaning and reacting rather than decreeing and acting. HOW the move will come is determined by the resistance from those He is attempting to move upon, i.e., the types of circumstances in which they will be willing to hear from God. There are numerous creative circumstances in the Bible that were allowed to develop to awaken purpose in those who eventually became Sunday School story heroes. But then, their goal was not to get to heaven. It was to stop the giants and the systems that dared defy the Lord of Hosts. WHEN God moves, we must be ready to yield to a paradigm that allows His government to reform us before we inadequately try transforming a nation. (1Pe.4:17 “judgment begins in the house of God”) After not preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom (i.e.,the rule of God, not just a get-out-of-hell-free message; Matt.4:23; 9:35; 24:14) and Kingdom culture for 200 years, we are crying out in our nation for a political figure to legislate morality to produce a culture that doesn’t destroy itself and shed innocent blood. (Matt.5-6 is Kingdom culture)

Melissa — Awakening is for all of us, not just the unbeliever. I’m quite excited at the thought of being awake at the wheel now and moving forward with foresight. You are no longer under subjugation of fear, diagnosis, lack, delay, the past, oppression, depression or even snares in your bloodline. You’re on a new page of your life. Just know that things are about to get amazing and shift in ways we cannot imagine. This may seem like a crazy thing to say at this point in 2020, but the truth is far more powerful than the lie. You are free and about to see great and mighty things on a much larger scale.
Melissa — A couple of weeks before I heard “No longer subjugated” the Lord told me that He is using this current oppression to deliver us from life-long oppression. So, when subjugation came up it was quite loud to me that He was saying we are no longer under control of decades, possibly centuries, of oppression. This is huge! This is part of the awakening. We’ve been asleep at the wheel and this explains to me why we haven’t seen great and mighty things on a larger scale that we know we are supposed to be seeing.
Melissa — It is all starting to make sense why this awakening is so intense.We have the opportunity to move from a substandard life to a premium life if we will embrace this alarm and not press the snooze button! This moment really is an invitation to something incredible.This is an invitation to enter into and function from the fear of the Lord for the sake of the Kingdom and for His glory.I really like the sound of that.I really want to live that.

The thing that hits me the loudest is that we are being awakened to the fear of the Lord.I’ve heard from several places that the church has to return to the fear of the Lord, and as He sheds insight on this subject it makes more and more sense why we cannot live outside of it.Well, we have been living outside of it for the most part and that just isn’t working.If we are awaking to the fear of the Lord, what have we been in? We’ve been operating in fear, but it’s a substandard fear. A substandard fear is fear of lack, death, pain, trauma, loss, etc.We, however, are waking up to what we were meant to operate in, which is the premium fear of the Lord. In this premium fear we operate out of awe, reverence, trust, insight and understanding.This is a totally different way of living! Substandard fear is unclean fear, but premium fear of the Lord is clean fear.This obviously leads to totally different outcomes.
Melissa — I am writing this during the pandemic between Palm Sunday and Easter of 2020, on the day before Passover.I have to say, I have been hearing about awakening coming for a while now but had no idea it was going to look like this. This is… well, it’s an interesting, mysterious, exciting and epic time to be alive. How should I describe it? It’s like being in one of those super deep naps where dreams seem like reality, and when the alarm goes off it’s almost painful and confusing. It’s that kind of nap where it takes a minute to not only regain consciousness, but you have to decipher what was the dream and what is real. This is the best way I know how to describe this awakening. I think I thought it was mainly going to be people waking up to God and looking for Him, and we would all be ready to introduce them. Well, I was a tad off. This thing is definitely beyond my logic and realm of standard operation. So, here’s to waking up to this exciting and epic time!
Melissa — We are in the midst of a seriously sobering season. We are in the thick of the increase of His perpetually increasing government (Isaiah 9:7). Awakening won’t be limited to the American church’s view of what it should look like to be most effective. Awakening is going to seep through the cracks in the foundation of the American church and reform it. Awakening brings reformation. We better be ready for awakening to bring some shock and awe too! It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, (Eph. 5:12-13 NLT) This awakening is going deep. It’s going to shed light on things that have been going on under our noses but we haven’t seen it because we have been asleep. It will be shocking, but that is why reformation comes with it.
