Melissa — We are in the midst of a seriously sobering season. We are in the thick of the increase of His perpetually increasing government (Isaiah 9:7). Awakening won’t be limited to the American church’s view of what it should look like to be most effective. Awakening is going to seep through the cracks in the foundation of the American church and reform it. Awakening brings reformation. We better be ready for awakening to bring some shock and awe too! It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, (Eph. 5:12-13 NLT) This awakening is going deep. It’s going to shed light on things that have been going on under our noses but we haven’t seen it because we have been asleep. It will be shocking, but that is why reformation comes with it. DR. GREG CRAWFORD — A few years ago the Lord told me, “Your message this week is written on the capital wall. Go to the state capital and get your message.” I went to the capital and began my search. I read everything hanging on all the walls. I read plaques and things posted on every floor and almost every public room. I was coming up with nothing. As I kept ascending to the very top floor in the rotunda, I finally found it. Written around the very top were the words, “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” The words “a new birth of freedom” are what stood out. I would later learn this was Lincoln’s last line of the Gettysburg address. The Lord spoke to me and said, “This will become the rallying point for the awakening and reformation you seek. This will be the common sound that will unite and draw people to a common cause.” I assumed that was for my state but today I see it is for the nation.

WHAT we need more than better politicians is an awakening move of God. WHERE we need that move of God is in the Church. WHY we need that move of God (perhaps it might better be labeled a reforming move of God) is because, having lost sight of our purpose in the earth, the Church is bemoaning and reacting rather than decreeing and acting. HOW the move will come is determined by the resistance from those He is attempting to move upon, i.e., the types of circumstances in which they will be willing to hear from God. There are numerous creative circumstances in the Bible that were allowed to develop to awaken purpose in those who eventually became Sunday School story heroes. But then, their goal was not to get to heaven. It was to stop the giants and the systems that dared defy the Lord of Hosts. WHEN God moves, we must be ready to yield to a paradigm that allows His government to reform us before we inadequately try transforming a nation. (1Pe.4:17 “judgment begins in the house of God”) After not preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom (the rule of God, not just a get-out-of-hell-free message; Matt.4:23; 9:35; 24:14) and Kingdom culture for 200 years, we are crying out in our nation for a political figure to legislate morality to produce a culture that doesn’t destroy itself and shed innocent blood. (Matt.5-6 is Kingdom culture)

As the people of God assemble today we are celebrating Reformation Day! On October 31, 1517 Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-five Theses to the Wittenberg Church door in Germany. What had been covered over by centuries of profitable and manipulative tradition, was exposed and the truth of God’s Word, the Gospel of salvation by grace (Eph.2:8), was made known. There is ONE Mediator between God and man, not a Mediator plus someone or some religious/ecclesiastical system (Heb.10:10). That Mediator, JESUS, alone was appointed by God to make atonement for the sins of men by His death. His atonement alone gives only Him authorization to be our Intercessor with God in our behalf. All persons (no matter race or creed) are to go directly to that Intercessor JESUS (Heb.7:25) and trust only in this Mediator alone. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1Tim.2:5).

Melissa — I am writing this during the pandemic between Palm Sunday and Easter of 2020, on the day before Passover. I have to say, I have been hearing about 
awakening coming for a while now but had no idea it was going to look like this. This is… well, it’s an interesting, mysterious, exciting and epic time to be alive. How should I describe it? It’s like being in one of those super deep naps where dreams seem like reality, and when the alarm goes off it’s almost painful and confusing. It’s that kind of nap where it takes a minute to not only regain consciousness, but you have to decipher what was the dream and what is real. This is the best way I know how to describe this awakening. I think I thought it was mainly going to be people waking up to God and looking for Him, and we would all be ready to introduce them. Well, I was a tad off. This thing is definitely beyond my logic and realm of standard operation. So, here’s to waking up to this exciting and epic time!

Righteousness is not wrought in a nation because of the existence of acceptable political candidates. Righteousness cannot reign in a land until there is repentance (a change of mind and turning from unrighteousness) so that reformation may be the bone and the constant in the various limbs and avenues of societal function. It is not easy to be redefined or repositioned when there is no model for it. Without a model, there is no guarantee that the upheaval in our lives is worth it! We are much more secure when we 
have a contemporary model to go by, but when God is building a model, it might start with you! You might be the one building a boat before anyone even grasps the concept of rain or flooding. You might be the one climbing out of the boat and walking on water. That means you are the one who must be willing to make mistakes or face the criticism and ridicule that reformation requires. It’s happening folks! The intensity you feel right now is an evil agenda being de-throned. God has not, and will not take His hand off of this nation! We are a blessed people, and we GET to be a part of His Kingdom invasion. Come. On. Now. “The zeal of the Lord of hosts“ is accomplishing a miraculous transformation in the United States of America. Does it look like what most of us thought a miraculous transformation would? Probably not. Does it matter what we thought it should look like? Absolutely not.

What, Where, Why, How, When — What we need more than better politicians is an awakening move of God. Where we need that move of God is in the Church. Why we need that move of God (perhaps it might better be labeled a reforming move of God) is because, having lost sight of our purpose in 
the earth, the Church is bemoaning and reacting rather than decreeing and acting. How the move will come is determined by the resistance from those He is attempting to move upon, i.e., the types of circumstances in which they will be willing to hear from God. There are numerous creative circumstances in the Bible that were allowed to develop to awaken purpose in those who eventually became Sunday School story heroes. But then, their goal was not to get to heaven. It was to stop the giants and the systems that dared defy the Lord of Hosts. When God moves, we must be ready to yield to a paradigm that allows His government to reform us before we inadequately try transforming a nation. (1Pe.4:17 “judgment begins in the house of God”) After not preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom (the rule of God, not just a get-out-of-hell-free message; Matt.4:23; 9:35; 24:14) and Kingdom culture for 200 years, we are crying out in our nation for a political figure to legislate morality to produce a culture that doesn’t destroy itself and shed innocent blood. (Matt.5-6 is Kingdom culture)

This is a day of celebration! I doubt you will see any children walking around this evening dressed like Martin Luther but it is a significant day in church history. October 31 is Reformation Day. This is the day celebrated as the day that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the Wittenberg church door in 1517. The reformers believed that only Scripture was the authority for Christians, not traditions of a church and they preached salvation by grace and not works. We celebrate those who courageously stood against the theological norms of the time, confronting corruption in the church at the price of risking and/or losing their lives. Happy Reformation Day!
