He is Mighty to Save

May we lift up our heads from the struggle of battle and
behold Him who has already overcome, and trust ourselves
completely to Him Who is mighty to save.

“WHO IS this Who comes from Edom, with crimson-stained garments from Bozrah [in Edom]? This One Who is glorious
in His apparel, striding triumphantly in the greatness of His might? It is I, [the One] Who speaks in righteousness [proclaiming
], mighty to save!” (Isa.63:1, Amp)

Distracted by Pain

BackHurtOur mandate is to rebuild this temple to house His presence and His purpose. What distracts us from our mandate? One of the things at the top of the list is pain. Pain has a way of capturing our attention. Pain has a way of becoming a priority, but even pain must bow to God’s authority and power and purpose. Marty hurt his back a few years ago. He laid on the bed begging and pleading for healing and relief. Between groans, he decided to call and cancel the service scheduled for the next day, but the Holy Spirit said, “You are not dealing with this like a son.” “How do I do that, Lord?” he asked aloud. The answer came just as loud. “Declare your position and purpose.”

Aloud he began to declare, “God has purpose for me in Lockhart, Texas. I will go and do what I was born to do.” Not even remembering how he got off the bed, he found himself packing. He was still in pain, but able to move again. He took ground inch by inch, moment by moment that day. By the time he stood in the pulpit and preached, the pain had completely left him.

He could have thought like Judah, “I will pursue the purposes of God someday, just not now.” I have to recover first! But as he adjusted his priorities in his thinking, the process of healing began as he headed toward purpose.

The Focus of Desperation

I laughed at myself as I recalled frantically calling out to the Lord a while back. I was frantic to find a title to a vehicle we were selling. Marty and I had both searched our desks and files, but neither of us could find the title. Rifling through my files one CameraFocusmore time, I suddenly heard myself praying, “Lord, help us. No, seriously, really make something happen this time!” Well, that was certainly no exemplary prayer of faith and power to confess publicly, but it was a powerful prayer in that it turned a light on for me.

As the light came on, I could plainly see the unverbalized script going on behind the scenes. As soon as I had muttered, “Help, Lord,” I thought of praying those same words hundreds of times concerning another situation in my life. The remembrance came to mock me for there was no help showing up after years, no sign of change, no movement whatsoever in my circumstances after those hundreds of prayers. The reminder was not only a damper on expectation for any present help, it was an in-my-face threat that God would not show up with resolve of this title situation.

The voice of desperation does not equal prayer mainly because desperation most often focuses on the problem which is the opposite of a faith focus on the One who has the answer. I suddenly realized I had been whining (hundreds of times), but I had considered it prayer. I repented. The awesome thing about repentance is that it brings change that brings change. Suddenly, in a Holy-Spirit-photo-memory-moment, Marty saw the title and it was right where we had put it, in a forgotten safe place. Hey, that’ll preach, the answer is SAFE until we can see it.

I laughed again. I love the smell of victory, especially even before the smoke of battle clears!  (Kathy Gabler)

May the Righteous Flourish

May the people who are justified and vindicated by God, the right, correct and lawful ones (“righteous”, BDB) bud, sprout, bloom, break out of leprosy and fly (“flourish”,BDB).

“The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].” (Ps.92:12, Amp)

A Willing Spirit

It is hard to see eternal purpose through the grit and grime of experience.  So, our spirits have to be renewed, and that starts with cleaning life’s grime off the windows.  That’s why David prayed in Psalm 51,  “Create in me a clean heart, [send your window-cleaning presence!] O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”  A steadfast spirit is a spirit that circumstances cannot bully, that emotions cannot control and that experiences cannot defeat.  (v.11) “Don’t cast me away from your presence and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit.” (NAU) A willing spirit is a spirit that is willing to try again, that is willing to believe again and that is willing to hope again.

One Greater Than the Temple

Jesus did not seem at all concerned about offending people who didn’t believe the way He believed. In Matt.12 He and His disciples walk through a corn field on the Sabbath and the disciples picked and ate corn. When approached by the Pharisees and rebuked for it, Jesus defended the disciples. He then walks into the synagogue and heals a man’s withered hand on the same Sabbath. He has now stacked up two major offenses. The Pharisees immediately called for a little confab to plan to destroy Him using the healing as their condemning accusation. Instead of apologizing and going great lengths to attempt to prevent offense, He rather reminded them in verse six that they were the ones offending by not acknowledging He is greater than the Temple and its system they claimed was being violated. “One greater than the Temple is here.”

Safety in Counselors

Safety is not in the multitude of prophesies and visions and revelations. Safety is in the multitude of counselors (Prov.11:14). There are “sheep” who don’t believe they need the flock and certainly don’t need a shepherd because they have a multitude of visions and prophecies. We call those sheep “wolf food”.

The Soul Can Initiate Dreams

The soul can initiate dreams, pulling from the senses, emotions, imagination, stresses, thoughts and experiences.  God has given us the dream tool, not only as a direct line to hear from Him but also as a means of revealing our own issues to help us resolve them. When dealing with soul NightCloudsMoondreams, it can be easy to miss the point and dismiss an uncomfortable dream rather than benefit from it and get to godly  resolve!  We have all had strange dreams where we went to the breakfast table feeling guilty.  Have you ever awakened with a load of guilt left by a dream?  For example, a common soul dream is dreaming you are back in school and can’t find your class or your homework.  It could be that your current situations or activities are reminding your soul of the same feelings of those embarrassing, immature, insecure years.  Or you could be glimpsing something in your soul that was never resolved  from back there in that stage of maturing and training. Or you could be feeling unequipped or fearing failure in your future plans.  In any case, there is no benefit to carrying that guilt around the rest of the day.

Rehearsals Through Dreams

I believe God sometimes calls us to rehearsals through dreams.  The Spirit of God can enlarge our vision and plant hope in our hearts as we sleep.  These dreams can become un-carnal weapons in our arsenals.
WalkWaterDreamI’ve heard many dreams of people ministering under a tremendous anointing or doing supernatural exploits under a heavy anointing.  Others have experienced the powerful presence of God in a dream that is beyond anything they’ve known.  Still others have dreamed of powerful exploits at work or dreamed of the elation of great accomplishments in their community.  Some have literally experienced such dreams and then had them come to pass.  Others are left to wonder the purpose of such dream experiences.  I do not believe God-sent dreams are wasted or without purpose.
Such dreams build confidence in us, like a play rehearsal builds confidence that we know what to do when the time comes.  These dreams can influence our desires and goals and set us upon God-ordained pursuits, provoking us beyond hindrances and limitations in life.  They can be equipping dreams, opening us to the newness of obediences ahead.  I believe rehearsal dreams are sometimes the confirmation or Amen ahead of time, so we will be assured something is God when we get there.  After all, direction is easy to recognize when we have already rehearsed the path in dreams.

Wise and Harmless Dreamers

TwoPeopleTalkingDreamers and visionaries can learn to be wise and harmless.  We can ask for wisdom so that we do not mistake insight for a license.  Also, we can remember to consider our dreams as OUR telegrams with a purpose for ME!  If you are convinced a dream is for someone else, at least get godly counsel or agreement before sharing it.

The spoken word is powerful.  Therefore the spoken dream can become a living, driving force – positive or negative.  Lord, help us to remember the tongue has the power of life and death and reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing, (Proverbs 12:18)

Growth and Development

Concerning Growth and Development: I once heard a known speaker on TV say that if a gift is from God it comes full-grown and there is nothing TreeGrowthfor a person to grow in.   (1)  Scriptural precedent shows us that our Heavenly Father is willing to work with our humanness and allows us time to develop.   (2)  The scheme in Galatians shows us the process of a growing son and his father’s willingness to trust him after various stages of development (Gal.4).   (3)  The master in Jesus’ parable of Matt.25 trusted his servant at a much higher level after the servant proved himself capable at a much lower level.  (4)  In Lk 2:40, 52 Dr. Luke speaks of the growth and development of the Person we call Jesus.   (5)  Even the young prophet who ministered in a high-profile incident in 1Kings 13 needed to grow and develop before he was able to properly discern matters.   His immaturity and inability to discern properly was his loss and a lion’s gain (v.24).   (6)  The Hebrew writer encourages us to train our senses so that we may be able to discern (Heb 5:14).   (7)  Although Elisha had spent some period of time with the great prophet Elijah, his mentor informed him that there was a great deal more to come.

Remain Solidly Committed

oak-treeAs the people of God assemble today, may they recall the
blessings of God and the rich, life-giving Word of God and
be encouraged and strengthened to remain solidly committed to Him.

When he arrived there, he was pleased to see what God had done for
them out of kindness. So he encouraged all the people to remain solidly
committed to the Lord. (Acts 11:23, GW)

Dreams and Conversion

In one African Muslim country, a young man violently tore up a Bible tract and threatened the life of The Every Home for Christ worker going door-to-door with the literature.  The next afternoon as the worker sat in his home, he was shocked to see the man knock at this door saying, “I must have another booklet.”  The Muslim explained that the previous night two hands awakened him, and when he turned on a light and asked who was there, a voice said, “You have torn up the truth.”  The voice instructed him to acquire another booklet, directing him to the worker’s home.  There the Muslim read the booklet and became a believer and is now preparing for ministry.  An Assemblies of God missionary said, “It all takes place in context, dreams are one step, a link in the chain that leads to conversion.”

The Holy Spirit Is Available

Jn 16:13  “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever LightRayGardenPathHe hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14  “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15  “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.”   The Holy Spirit now makes available to all what was only available to a few in the Old Testament. (Lk24:49; Jn16:13; 20:22; Acts1:8; Eph5:18; 1Jn2:20) We must have impartation from the Holy Spirit to know what is to come. He takes the things of Jesus and shows them to us. Jesus is the One who has a future and if we are to participate in HIS future, we need to know the things that are of Him.

Isa 33:5  “The LORD is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. And He will be the stability of your times, A wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; The fear of the LORD is his treasure.” (Amp)

“He is the God who does the undoable,
changes the unchangeable,
and provides the impossible.”

Intervening in Dreams

DreamStairsManMy niece dreamed recently that she was in her kitchen sautéing some onions.  Her dad, who had passed away the previous year, stood in the doorway of her kitchen.  Scrunching his nose at the strong odor he asked her, “What is that smell?”  She answered that it was just onions frying.  He shook his head and said, “No, that smells like gas.”  As soon as he said the word “gas,” she awoke and sat up in bed.  Immediately she smelled the gas.  Running to the kitchen she found a burner which had not been completely shut off.  The gas fumes had slowly been filling the house since supper earlier that evening.

Her Heavenly Father sent special forces to her rescue.  Like a Navy Seal Special Ops, the dream was a timely intervention behind the scenes to stop an explosive attack before it reached success.  Who but God could dispatch the exact messenger who would represent the authority and particular skills needed to bring her to a wake up call. The messenger was in her earthly father’s likeness not only to represent trustworthy and sound counsel, but her earthly father had also been a fire chief for years!

The angels on assignment came in her dream to bring an un-carnal weapon for her victory.  Many people have had similar dreams and experiences and I’m sure some have experienced angelic intervention without realizing it.  I believe we can expect even more reports of God sending angels from His arsenal to intervene in the affairs of men in days ahead.

The Whole Story

The whole Story is about JESUS. Since the whole Story is about Him, how can it all be winding down for the Church? “But Jesus answered them, My Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work.” (Jn 5:17) When GroupMountainTopdoes the Father or the Son ever stop working? And… if They are working, is Their work any less than perfection of purpose no matter what the view from our angle? How could the Church Jesus is building be one generation away from extinction? How could the Bride that Jesus will marry go to her wedding in shame and defeat? How can the Head have a body that is defunct? Eph 5:27 shows us that His Church is a “glorious Church” and in Heb 12:27 it is the instrument of the Kingdom that cannot be shaken: 27 “The phrase ‘one last shaking’ means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered.  28  Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander.” (The Message) His Kingdom is an ever-increasing Kingdom, not an unwinding Kingdom. (Isa 9:7; Dan 2:35; Mt.13:33) God is wound up about His Son’s destiny and the destiny of JESUS is realized in the sons of the Kingdom and we will not stop short of the glory of God. “For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship].” (Rom 8:19, Amp)

Strategic Dreams

“Indeed God speaks once, or twice, {yet} no one notices it. In a dream, a vision of the night, when sound sleep falls on men, while they slumber in their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction,” Job 33:14-16.(NAU)  I am continually amazed at the strategic dreams God SleepDreamsends in the night. I consider strategic dreams to be those timely telegrams that confirm direction or give instruction or release insight and understanding about our lives and circumstances.  These dreams can bring answers when we need them as well as bring answers to questions we don’t even know to ask.

Strategic dreams and visions can become un-carnal weapons in our lives.  “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,” (NKJ) 2 Cor 10:3-4. We can access God’s arsenal of un-carnal weapons by seeking Him.  We become skillful with His weapons as we learn His ways. We learn His ways by paying attention to the truth He reveals and by submitting to His order and following through on His directions.  Our Creator’s creativity is unlimited!  He has unique, customized weapons in His arsenal that will counter any weapon ever formed against us, (Isa 54:17).

No Need to Forfeit God’s Stuff

HandOutStop1I believe it is essential that we teach the word and thereby expose and destroy the works of darkness.  Nothing was ever created in hell.  All hell can do is mis-use God’s stuff.  Jer 23:28 – Let these false prophets tell their dreams and let my true messengers faithfully proclaim my every word. There is a difference between chaff and wheat!( TLB)

I pray we realize there is no need to forfeit God’s stuff just because it has been perverted or misused by lovers of darkness.  Instead, may we celebrate dreams, visions, prophecy, words of wisdom and all the gifts God has provided so that we walk in the wisdom and authority of God, confident and fully equipped.

Fear Dumping

Melissa Gabler —
The Holy Spirit prompted me to ask for a season of “Fear Dumping”. Then I saw

a picture of a chronic cycle just about at its start over place, but this time there
was a button readily available to be pushed called “Fear Dump”. When we make
the choice to push that button, all of the fear driving that cycle will be dumped
causing that cycle to end! A season of fear dumping is upon us, PUSH THAT BUTTON!

God Gave the Tool

ToolBoxI know many religious people put dreams and visions and prophecy in the category with fortune tellers and witches and psychics.  However, it was God that gave man the dream tool and it was God who promised to pour out His Spirit with dreams and visions and prophecy following.  Several times in both the Old and New Testament, God communicated His plans, instructions and insights through dreams, visions, prophetic words and supernatural experiences.  And there are numerous biographies of godly men and women with such experiences throughout history since the New Testament times.  If we throw away the real with the counterfeit or throw away all truth because some truth has been abused, we are robbing ourselves.

“Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean and in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.” (Ps. 143:8, Amp)

Not Responding to Manipulation

May the Lord give us some basic good sense (with its foundation in Biblical truth) not to respond to manipulative, abusive and guilt-oriented presentations of so-ConPhonecalled causes, no matter how religious, humanitarian or worthy they sound.

May He direct our compassion, time, finance and zeal into the avenues He has for each of us to be most effective in, avenues that will set us up to glorify Him and show forth His character.
“Since God has so generously let us in on what he is doing, we’re not about to throw up our hands and walk off the job just because we run into occasional hard times. We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don’t maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don’t twist God’s Word to suit ourselves. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God.” (2Cor.4:1-2, Msg)
