He Will be the Last One Standing

Perhaps we could paraphrase Joel 2:25 like this:    “I will restore the years swallowed up because you did not realize the significance of MY purpose and StandingMountainLightdestiny in your life.  The circumstances were forces  that I used to change you,  to build character,  to build strength, to complete a work within you and to bring about the right timing and conditions for My purpose in you.”   Of course, when you are eating locusts without the honey and pulling crispy, creepy locusts shells out of your hair and swatting them away from your nose, eyes and ears, you wonder if you will be naked and half eaten or even be able to see the Redeemer who is coming.   If you dared open your mouth you would ask for His ETA.  However, that is the time to let the last line of Job 19:25, echo through you, “And at the last He will take His stand on the earth”.   He will have the last word and He will be the last one standing in our behalf.  So, let’s dare to trust Him to keep our accounts and wait for Him to show up as our Redeemer.  —Kathy Gabler

Staying on the Path

This is the day the Lord has made so. . .    In this day we will rejoice and we will PathwaySunTreespractice caution concerning byways and side roads, staying on the path of righteousness by making decisions based on the Word of God. We will avoid deception and deceiving. We will recognize that the straight road is pictured as the road on which no one ever loses his way. “Consider well the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established and ordered aright. 27 Turn not aside to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil.” (Prov.4:26-27, Amp)

Outliving a Siege

The last sentence in Joel 2:25 says,  My great army which I sent among you…”.   That tells us that God sent the army of locusts, the swarm of circumstance.   Did He siege_Jerusalemsend them to ultimately rob, kill and destroy His people?  No.  Interestingly, through those times that it feels like we are helpless and chaos is king, our Redeemer is watching and working behind the scenes and at every intersection.   Even during a siege there is a redemptive factor at work and, whether we realize it or not, the conflict is working something out of us and into us.  Overcoming a locust season is an opportunity for sons to build muscle and maturity.  Coming out with both is a redeeming result of difficulty.   Outliving a siege positions us for redemption of our purpose.  Matured and muscled, we are then equipped to embrace every opportunity restored, every resource restored, every potential restored, every strength restored, every harvest restored, every energy restored and the years lost in the difficult, building process. —Kathy Gabler

Part of Something Bigger

As the people of God assemble today may each one be aware that he/she is a part of looking upsomething that is bigger than they are–that they are a part of the momentum of God that will not ever stop but shall ever increase (Isa.9:7). We will worship and honor our Lord who made us one body for His glory, so shall we move forward as one, laying down our lives (our ambitions, aspirations and personal agendas) so that body might glorify JESUS in this earth before a culture that is jaded by the fruitless philosophies and idealisms of a man-focused society.

Jehovah Making up for the Years

Holy Scripture says that Jehovah will restore what the locusts have eaten. (Joel 2:25) handtoeyeslookingHe will make up for those times that no matter how many bugs you killed, they kept coming.  He will restore those years it took to fight and endure the swarming  circumstances.   He will make up for the time it took for circumstances to consistently strip away your strength and hope.  He will make up for all those mornings when the sunrise woke up the dread in your soul again and circumstances continued to devour your day and your future.  He will make up for the months and years that opposition smothered you and circumstances robbed you through changelessness. He is, indeed, your Redeemer! —Kathy Gabler

Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus

As the people of God assemble today may they fix their eyes on Jesus who endured the cross, despised the shame and is now set down at the right hand of the throne of God as the Victorious Lamb. May they know that Jesus rose from the dead because there was more to come.  “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  2 FIXING OUR EYES ON JESUS, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  (Heb.12:1-2, NAU)

Our Redeemer

A redeemer is one who delivers, avenges or ransoms as needed, one who buys back locustwhat was lost.  Think about all that can be lost to us, like lost opportunities, lost resources, lost potential, lost strength, lost harvest and lost energy (to list a few).   Our Redeemer can even buy back time, He said so in Joel 2:25,  And I will restore to you the years [I will make up to you for the years] the swarming locust has eaten, the locust larvae, and the stripping locust, and the cutting locust. . .”  This scripture does not only say He can restore the years, it says He will.  — Kathy Gabler

Breaking out of old Patterns

BreakthroughwallGod is breaking us out of old patterns. He is breaking old patterns of habits, of things that defeat us, the old patterns of thoughts and attitudes that lead us into defeat. He is breaking those old patterns so that we can walk in freedom and be at peace in His purposes. “He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.” (Ps.23:3, NKJV)

God-Cloaked Answers

Have you ever had times when a revelatory nugget pops up, then within days you hear the same nugget from other sources? That’s been happening as of late and I’m learning curtainpullbackto pay attention to those! Following is one such instance that has been not only ringing in my ear, but answering some of those seemingly unanswerable questions.
While in conversation this was quoted to me from a book, “God hides some things for specific times so that the enemy cannot destroy them.” That stuck with me, and a couple of days later I read a quote from some- one else that was expressing the exact same thought! Well, that really hit me between the eyes, especially because these came from trusted sources. It was an “Are you listening?” moment.
I began meditating on God hiding something for a specific time, and it felt like this statement began filling cracks in my understanding. If God cloaks something for a time, it is not only to hide it from the devil and his destructive minions, but it is also to hide it from our own self sabotage. Yes, the devil and self-sabotage are two different things. However, the devil LOVES stoking the flames of self sabotage! All we have to do is let our fears and concerns fall out of our mouths like kindling for the enemy’s threatening bonfire. So many times we make the devil’s job so easy.

Stir up the Gift

firePaul urged Timothy, “Stir up the gift of God within you” (2Tim.1:6 KJV). There was no impassioned plea for Timothy to sit quietly by until a holy stick-bearing angel came and stirred up the fire. Actually, the imperative is to do just the opposite: “[You] Fan into flame the gift of God.” This phrase was used in the common vernacular of the time to describe the rekindling of a fire that had been allowed to die down through neglect (W.E. Vine).

We Will See With Our Own Eyes

There are blessings, signs, wonders and miracles about to happen in our lives, our eyefamilies, our churches and our nation because God was witnessing of it before you and I were ever born—for His Name’s sake. We will not fall backward from promise in our confession. We will not say as Abraham, “Since You have given no offspring to me, one born in my house is my heir.” (Gen.15:3). Because He who is Witness responds “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir.” (v.4) We will not see promise from afar or second-hand. We will see it with our own eyes and give Almighty God praise.

Not Preoccupied With Others Views

The thief of Jn.10:10 will get us preoccupied with other people’s views of our TalkingPointingrelationship with God or their opinion of the likelihood of God’s promise coming to pass in us. He wants us totally dismayed with the time period between promise and fulfillment. Such a spirit readily points out failed relationships and failed attempts “to be a part of” so it appears that there is now a “blemish” on our calling. His memory works overtime reminding us of failed or unheeded opportunities. Hence, the implication of our being unworthy or unreliable as participants in any divine purpose. [Therefore] My brothers and sisters, try hard [make every effort; strive] to be certain that you really are called and chosen by God [confirm your calling and election]. [For] If you do all these things, you will never fall [stumble]. (2Pe.1:10, EXB)

Father’s Hearts Affirming

As the people of God assemble today, may hearts of fathers be turned to the coming FatherArmAroundSongeneration. May fathers in our congregations discern the potential of the youth around them and let their hearts be turned to affirming them, encouraging them and enabling them on to their destiny in Christ. May this be the most memorable Father’s Day with fathers and children turned to each other in love and in honor, grasping the heavenly Father’s heart for the generations to glorify His intent. “May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.” (Ps.115:14, TLB)

Like Father, Like Son

Jesus was the Kingdom of God exposed to mankind. In Jesus, the Kingdom was FatherArmAroundSon1observed (Matt.12:28). In Jn.1:14 The Message version puts it like this:  “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” Though the Father was sitting upon a throne in heaven, He could be seen in the earth in Jesus as He interacted with His environment. (Jn.20:21b) Jesus said, “…as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” There are people in our neighborhoods and at our jobs and in our families who need to see the Father through us. We are praying you discover daily that your life is reflecting Jesus.

Whose Report Will You Believe?

That dreadful dream detractor, that depreciating disparager is a thief and has come lookintodistance“only to steal and kill and destroy (Jn.10:10).” His goal is to steal away a word, a hope, a dream or a vision that God has given. He would love for you to think it has been canceled or, at the very least, that you will have to settle for something less. You end up bedraggled, talking like, “It’s not going to be what I originally expected it would be but ‘many are the trials of the righteous’ and I’m just glad to know the Lord.” The detractor spirit finds many an ear willing to listen, willing to believe and willing to act on the altered information. BUT, whose report will YOU believe?  “The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, And a good report makes the bones healthy.” (Prov.15:30, NKJV)

Live and Deliver

Anything that has to do with deliverance, anything that would bring you to possess Moses bulrushes.jpgthe land, anything that would bring you to a new chapter in your life must be nourished. If it is nourished it will overcome Pharaoh (Just like Moses was saved and nourished). God nourishes us and those dreams, hopes and promises He gives us so that they might live and deliver. “But Zion said, The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me. Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. Your sons hasten back, and those who laid you waste depart from you! (Isa.49:14-17).”

To Show Lovingkindness

MinisteringThis is the day the Lord has made so…  I will rejoice and be glad because, in this day, the Spirit of the Lord and His compassion are enabling me to show loving-kindness and mercy while I am plowing up ground to make way for the development and effect of good that will make a difference in someone’s life.  “Do they not err who devise evil and wander from the way of life? But loving-kindness and mercy, loyalty and faithfulness, shall be to those who devise good.” (Prov.14:22, Amp)

Wind and Confidence

If the detractor cannot knock you completely out of the race, he wants the wind and CARFAX 250confidence knocked out of you so that your performance is hindered. It would be somewhat like a high performance racecar driver pulling in for a pit stop and saying, “Don’t put much gas in the tank and don’t put on any new tires because I don’t deserve it the way I’ve been driving.” Cf.”For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ (2Co.1:20).” Never stop saying “Amen” to what God has said.

The How of God’s Promises Not Our Concern

PathLightWalkNothing is birthed and the flames of gifting fade away when we take our focus off “God said” and place it on our inner doubts and struggles. Those doubts are fed by the detractor and those he enlists. What God promises, He also performs. The “how” of it is not our concern. It is God’s and it is no problem (cf.Heb.11:3). Cf.”Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (Ps.37:3-4).”

Be Concerned for One Another

As the people of God assemble today may they look to their all-sufficient, beneficent Pray one anotherGod and may they then look upon one another and consider the other’s concerns. May there be interest in the well-being of one’s brothers and sisters in Christ and may there be prayers, encouragements, words of knowledge and prophecies to strengthen the saints. “Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others. Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]” (Phil.2:4-5, Amp)
