Practical Aspects of Will of God
When David showed up at the scene of the battle where a giant prevailed, he only had two skills: playing the harp and shooting a slingshot. But somewhere thru the years it would appear that a father had taken time and interest and taught the boy how to use a slingshot (Lk.1:17). The will of God has a way of taking on very practical aspects.

Goliath was Born to Fall
I asked to understand why the power of the air could get to and maintain such a fierceness of warfare in a particular region I had been praying over. I heard the words, “10 layers” and then I realized
this power had been steadily gaining and reigning for decades, and the powers that be, those residing rulers of darkness in this region, have tenure. The air has been repeatedly conditioned as men’s choices, acts and decisions have remained “under the influence.” However, Goliath, no matter how big he grew was born to fall, and no matter how many opponents he fought on the way, the confrontation with David was his appointed demise. God’s “due time” appointments involve the intersection of time, place, circumstances and specific people. It is obviously due time for God’s order to prevail in the atmosphere of that region. That explains why the warfare has peaked to a crisis turning point. Decades of decisions and their results over that region are being set up like dominoes, poised for knocking down. (Kathy Gabler)

The Ordinary Ordained by God
Something very ordinary ordained by God to be applied in a unique circumstance turned the tide for a nation. Though the giant loomed large in the valley (1Sam.17:3-4), God had sent a shepherd boy over the top of the hill for the purpose of going down into that valley to contradict the giant. An army did not take out the giant. A small smooth stone from an ordinary shepherd’s sling was all it took to end the giant’s career. The faithful God of Israel still does business the same way He always has.

Under Authority
(Sam Brassfield) — David was under authority; therefore, he had authority. If we are not under authority, we have no authority. All authority outside
of the Triune Godhead is delegated authority. David had been given authority by his earthly father Jesse to tend his father’s sheep. David used that authority to slay the enemies that came to devour his father’s flocks. He just used this same premise of authority in regards to his heavenly Father. David knew that when he faced the giant who was in defiance of his heavenly father, that he would be given the power of God to back up the authority he had been given to protect God’s flock called Israel. 2017: The Game Changer #2

(Melissa) 2017: The Game Changer #2 — Time to slay the victim mentality. We saw the victim mentality come to a head in 2016 and get whipped! You know that “Sleeping Giant” we’ve been talking about for a while? Well, it’s name is “No More”, and it woke up in the latter half of last year. No more victims for Christ. No more victimized churches. 2017 will see God’s original intent realized in many areas.

God’s Supremacy Working
In the Bible the LION could not prosper against David because David kept God in the supreme position in his life, in his thoughts, and in his consideration. The BEAR could not prosper against David because of the supremacy of God in David’s life. The GIANT could not prosper against David even though he came against David with the deadliest of weapons. KING Saul could not prosper against David even though he was conniving and had supreme authority in the land. God’s supremacy was far greater than all of them. (Ps.74:12, NASB) “Yet God is my king from of old, Who works deeds of deliverance in the midst of the earth.” We are praying that no matter what the opposition, you discover daily God’s supremacy working in you and in your behalf.

Difficulties Of Change
1.) GIANTS—Giants represent the difficulties of change and the difficulties involved in making adjustments. When the 12 spies went in to spy out the promised land there were two different reports filed (Num 13:30-33). Caleb reported that the land was a “good land” and that they were able to take it. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it (Num 13:30). However, there were others who noticed the giants (v. 33-Heb.: bully, tyrant) in the land and decided that, even though the land was flowing with milk and honey, the difficulties this change offered were not worth the effort. If they could have walked in without any difficulties or having to make any adjustments, they would have voted to go into the promised land.

Respond To The Intimidation
The spirits that Goliath, Athaliah and Michal characterize are still operating in these days. The point of difficulty we reach in dealing with these spirits is that they employ likely human personalities to most effectively intimidate those pressing forward in change. Individuals and church groups will both face the sting of these characters as we come closer to realizing our destiny. It is the human voice that is intimidating pastors and leaders into digressing from what they joyously began walking in just a few short years ago. The threat of financial loss and the loss of membership are strong factors of intimidation and discouragement that the enemy is using. We must face these facts, identify the facts and scripturally respond to the intimidation.

Forms Of Opposition
This passage of scripture (“But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.” —2Sam 5:17) gives us the general idea that we, like David, are being opposed as we move forward with God and embrace the changes He is taking us through. In this article I want to show you four forms this opposition will take: 1) Giants represent the difficulties of change. 2) Athaliah represents that which attempts to prevent change. 3) Michal represents those who resent change. 4) Sanballat represents change being misrepresented.

Too Dangerous
Some people in the Bible had similar experiences with attacks and opposition. When the tribes of Israel got together and anointed David king, the Philistines went searching for him to take him out of the picture. “But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.” (2Sam 5:17). They realized that they had passed up a great opportunity to destroy David and now intended to correct their mistake. Now that the anointing had come upon David for his destiny, he was too dangerous. So, a concerted effort was mounted to remove him from any possible scenario which would bring Israel to the victorious state which God’s word had prophesied.

Signs And Wonders
Signs And Wonders (Kathy Gabler)
The words translated miracle or sign or wonder are, for the most part, interchangeable in the Bible. A working definition is: displays of the supernatural in this natural realm.
That is encouraging in one way because that implies one reason we don’t see signs and wonders is because we don’t SEE them, even though they are on-going. How many of the 5000 plus that were eating on the hillside realized their lunch was a miracle? I’m thinking a good percentage didn’t have a clue! How many thousands of people saw the same star as the three kings, but didn’t know it was a sign and a wonder? When David saw Goliath, he wasn’t looking for a miracle! He was just looking for a rock! However, there were miracles (plural) in the mix that day, beyond the anointed impact of a rock from a sling. The whole scene was a miracle of timing, circumstance and possibly Goliath choosing the wrong helmet that day! Someone who is trained in CPR can easily fail to see the miracle of being in the right place at the right time to participate in the intervention of God in a situation. Isaiah 20:3, calls it a sign and wonder that Isaiah walked naked and barefoot for three years. I’m just not so sure his wife called that a sign and wonder!
(This is the first of a series on Signs And Wonders.)
