(Melissa) Now, here is where the “God cloaked answer” comes in. If I would have been healed immediately, I would have sabotaged my healing. I say that because just two weeks ago I was asking the Lord what do I need to know today about this, and as plain as day I heard, “You have a fear of relapse.” OH MY! He absolutely hit that one dead center! That little stinker has had its claws in so many areas of my life. Now, it no longer does. That fear will not sabotage the answer.

The attitude of cynicism tends to be contagious: the attitude of the person who has been somewhere and it was a disappointing venue, now others don’t want to go there; the attitude of the person who was married and it was a disappointing experience, now others don’t want to take the chance on marriage; the attitude of the person who went all out to succeed but they ended up broke and embarrassed for having even tried, now others are afraid to step out. Cynicism displaces anticipation and induces lethargy. We must dwell on the God of the impossible and His Word that brings our focus back to all possibility. He is God and will never cease being everything He has always been. Our experiences plus the experiences of others, or even the lack of experiences, do not determine the ability of God to do wonders among His people. The Bible does not say, “All things are possible to him who has always had a perfect track record.” But it does say, “… If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mk.9:23, NKJV)

(Melissa) Last year was a year of getting the tools needed for the tool belt. It was a year of starting to ask the wise, right questions instead of the fear-driven questions. A fear-driven question already has an answer in mind and can’t hear anything but that. A wise question is open to hear truth. Asking those wise questions last year always got an answer. A lot of answers were personal things that needed to be dealt with in me. This even led me to go on a fear fast (that has not ended)! We must do something to see beyond our norm. What about an imagination that is available to God? Do we only see the mundane and the predictable and then do we pray and limit our expectations from that mundane perspective? Have we sentenced ourselves to only praying within the predictable because of past disappointments and the conclusions of others? Children run around with a towel tied around their neck imagining that they can fly, imagining they are super heroes until we talk them out of it. There is no evidence in scripture that anyone imagined the Red Sea parting. Phillip could not begin to imagine 5,000 people fed with only a couple of little fish and a little bit of bread. What if when we come up against the next impossible situation we just said, “Hey, what awesome way does God want to do this?” “What would the average person never imagine in this situation?” Graham Cooke was quoted as saying, “Sometimes I think that sin is not necessarily immorality or selfishness. Sometimes it just means we live drab, colorless, stale, and unimaginative lives before God.” Holy Spirit, quicken the Word of God within us to inspire us to see beyond the limiting realm of our daily existence. ”For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isa.55:9, KJV)
(Melissa) Here’s how God started breaking down this cloaking idea for me. I’m going to give a very recent and personal “for instance”. I’ve been dealing with a physical matter, not life or death, but an irritating battle that has almost caused a lock down due to the “WHAT IF this gets worse” record playing in my head… on repeat. It’s that kind of battle that sent my emotions from one side of the spectrum to another. After all, I’m not the only person to have dealt with this issue. There are plenty of others living with it. BUT I don’t see why I HAVE to live with it. So, I have been seeking God on the matter, and He has so beautifully and faithfully been giving me revelation regarding my healing all along this journey. Throughout this journey I have known in my core that this physical issue is a done-deal. In fact, at the beginning of this year I heard someone say that this is going to be a year of reversal! WELL, COME ON NOW (go ahead and take that for you and yours right now!). Just another confirmation that not only am I being healed, but this thing is going to be reversed!

As the people of God assemble today, may they stand in the liberty wherewith Christ has made them free, and in their praise and worship of Him may they pull further from captivity and its residue than they ever have before. May sounds and acts of freedom fill the atmosphere and may those who are bound be set free in an atmosphere of breaking shackles.

If it were not possible to keep standing in freedom, our Lord would not have commanded us in His Word to do just that. He does not want us to be captive to any degree of slavery. We have been set free to enjoy freedom within the auspices of His character and redemptive purposes. Living our lives under the wisdom and direction of the Word of God leads us in the liberty of sons/daughters who know their Father desires nothing less than the richness of that purchased freedom. (Melissa) If God cloaks something for a time, it is not only to hide it from the devil and his destructive minions, but it is also to hide it from our own self-sabotage. Yes, the devil and self-sabotage are two different things. However, the devil LOVES stoking the flames of self-sabotage! All we have to do is let our fears and concerns fall out of our mouths like kindling for the enemy’s threatening bonfire. So many times we make the devil’s job so easy. A child is always full of anticipation and is always using their imagination to carry them beyond the mundane of ever-present limitations. When children approached Jesus in Mark 10:13-15 He expressed a desire to be surrounded by them and their minds ripe with anticipation. He announced to the deeply, zealous religious people around Him that He desired they become like those little ones who don’t try entering the Kingdom with agendas, preconceived ideas, preferences and jaded imaginations which leave no room for the limitless possibilities of Almighty God. It would appear from this context that we will not see (v.15) the awesome, mind-shattering acts of the rule and power of Jehovah unless we approach Him with an imagination and attitude of anticipation to enter into His redemptive workings in this hour of unprecedented need and opportunity. Many have made their time, talents and money available to God to do the predictable, but mustn’t we make our childlike imaginations available to participate with a God Who has never been creatively stagnant and Who has never bowed to limit Himself to the mundane?
(Melissa) Have you ever had times when a revelatory nugget pops up, then within days you hear the same nugget from other sources? That’s been happening as of late and I’m learning to pay attention to those! Following is one such instance that has been not only ringing in my ear, but answering some of those seemingly unanswerable questions. While in conversation this was quoted to me from a book, “God hides some things for specific times so that the enemy cannot destroy them.” That stuck with me, and a couple of days later I read a quote from someone else that was expressing the exact same thought! Well, that really hit me between the eyes, especially because these came from trusted sources. It was an “Are you listening?” moment. The parents were sitting in the kitchen going over their finances and planning the family vacation coming up in five months. The little boy was walking down the hall past the kitchen door. As he passed, all he heard were the words “OK then, we’re going to Disney World”. He picked up his pace and headed straight for his bedroom. After an hour or so the parents decided it was bedtime and headed down the hall. They stopped at their little boy’s room to check in on him. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, laying over on his over-stuffed zipper bag, fast asleep with his swim mask on his head and wearing his Mickey Mouse t-shirt. He had heard something that filled him with anticipation and that anticipation had him prepared to get under way. Mk.10:15-“…Whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” This is not declaring to us that we have to be like a child to go to heaven. It is talking about seeing the authority, power, rule and active sovereignty of God because we have childlike anticipation for participating in God’s Kingdom agenda and activity.

Sometimes these contradictions are obvious, like when I walked out on the porch and a snake was on my porch. That thing had crawled up on to the roof ledge of a second story porch! It was a very loud contradiction to my plans and future. (I knew it was a personal issue because I was the only one home.) One of the symbolic meanings of a snake is “a threat to the future,” and sure enough, one of us had to die that day! However, some personal contradictions are not as obvious, even on our porch, because they are always there and we don’t see them as a threat to our future purpose and fulfillment and destiny. Contradictions on your porch can be from old wounds and memories that haven’t faded and still cause fear or anger or discouragement. They linger like a cloud on your porch waiting to come and go with you. Contradictions to your purpose can come from family traits like anger or pride or being judgmental. You don’t notice them because they have always been there. The fact that you need to change your thinking in some part of your life is not an indictment against you! The simple truth is that without repentance, there is no change and without change there is no overcoming contradictions that keep affecting your life and your legacy.

The guy hurried from the garage to the kitchen brushing past his wife who was just coming out of the laundry room. Grabbing her dishpan, he headed back out to the garage without so much as a howdy do. “Where do you think you are going with my new dishpan?”, the wife demanded. Obviously on a mission, the husband yelled over his shoulder, “To change the oil in my pickup!” Even more vehemently and quickly headed in his direction, she yelled back, “Not with my good dishpan, you’re not!” at which point he demanded to know why not. She firmly replied, “Because that pan is sanctified! It is sanctified for dishwashing and nothing else!” In Josh.3:5, Joshua’s instruction to the people of Israel was “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” He well might have been instructing them to separate themselves from things like cynicism, unbelief, opinions of others, past disappointment or from anger. Anger and disappointment are anticipation busters. Joshua did not suggest the Israelites find a knock-em-down prayer line to get in. He instructed that they sanctify themselves. Sometimes we fail to sanctify ourselves today and end up wondering why we don’t get to experience God’s wonders tomorrow.

If your health or finances or circumstances contradict your God-design and purpose and future, His will is that you overcome those contradictions. So this boils down to two things in my thinking: 1) we need to recognize the contradictions in our life and 2) we need to know that overcoming them will involve changing our thinking and choices. I’m not talking about contradictions coming at us from Washington D.C. or CNN or TBN or our boss. I’m talking about up close and personal, on-our-own-front-porch stuff that is hindering our purpose and future. The simple truth is that without repentance, there is no change and without change there is no overcoming contradictions that keep affecting our life and our legacy.

As the people of God assemble today, may hearts of fathers be turned to the coming generation. May fathers in our congregations discern the potential of the youth around them and let their hearts be turned to affirming them, encouraging them and enabling them on to their destiny in Christ. May this be the most memorable Father’s Day with fathers and children turned to each other in love and in honor, grasping the heavenly Father’s heart for the generations to glorify His intent.
“May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.” (Ps.115:14, TLB)
There is a statue in the Woodlands area just north of Houston. A child is standing on the shoulders of a man. The plaque at the base of the statue is a quote attributed to Sir Isaac Newton. It reads something like this: “The reason the present generation can see so far is because it is standing on the shoulders of the former generation.” Is the generation coming after us presently standing on their fathers’ shoulders? Does that generation even know that those shoulders are available? Have we taken that generation and lifted them, no matter what the cost, up and onto our shoulders? Are we expecting them to simply stand alongside us and inherit the same inadequacies and shortcomings we have been willing to live with? Some people rehearse to their children the failures and injustices and less-than-desirable qualities of their heritage. While some boldly abort the coming generation while they are still in the womb, some abort them in a more socially acceptable manner once they are out of the womb. In either case, the future has been robbed of their God-ordained potential. Perhaps it is the job of the mothers to push until they are born and then perhaps it is the job of the fathers to push up until they are securely standing on our shoulders.
Whether we each realize it or not, our purpose is a piece of the bigger purpose that God is stewarding. Perhaps part of your purpose is being God’s expression of mercy in an office or for you to be the medicine of healing because you can make others laugh. Or maybe He placed your skills and personality as a connector to get people to solutions in a community. Most of the time we are not aware of how God is using the details of our daily lives as a part of His bigger intention, but God watches over you and who you were born to be. He also intends that you outlive anything that contradicts any facet of your multi-faceted purpose and fulfillment.

When someone has attempted to say something hopeful or positive about the future I have heard (from Christians) statements like: “But they said ‘such and such’ on the news”. “But the guy who works at my office said ‘such and such’.” “But I read an article on the internet (that was written by a complete stranger without any credentials) and it said ‘such and such’!” Hey, what about NOT looking everywhere else and what about saying: BUT GOD IN HIS WORD SAYS….!

(KG) Everyone breathing is carrying a God-purpose. We are in 2016 to be sons and daughters of God making history in the earth. Not one of us is insignificant or without a holy calling. Whether we realize it or not, our purpose is a piece of the bigger purpose that God is stewarding. You may be a school bus driver that God positioned in a sphere of protection over three children that the enemy’s trying to take out before they become a principal and mayor and police chief that they were born to be. Perhaps you are raising a child that will affect the medical world in twenty years. Maybe you are living in a particular county so that your taxes can help change it for a God-plan. God is bigger and better planned than the opposition that is against you.

Grabbing her dishpan, he headed back out to the garage without so much as a howdy do. “Where do you think you are going with my new dishpan?”, the wife demanded. Obviously on a mission, the husband yelled over his shoulder, “To change the oil in my pickup!” Even more vehemently and quickly headed in his direction, she yelled back, “Not with my good dishpan, you’re not!” at which point he demanded to know why not. She firmly replied, “Because that pan is sanctified! It is sanctified for dishwashing and nothing else!” In Josh.3:5, Joshua’s instruction to the people of Israel was “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” He well might have been instructing them to separate themselves from things like cynicism, unbelief, opinions of others, past disappointment or from anger. Anger and disappointment are anticipation busters. Joshua did not suggest the Israelites find a knock-em-down prayer line to get in. He instructed that they sanctify themselves. Sometimes we fail to sanctify ourselves today and end up wondering why we don’t get to experience God’s wonders tomorrow.
If your health or finances or circumstances contradict your God-design and purpose and future, His will is that you overcome those contradictions. So this boils down to two things in my thinking: 1) we need to recognize the contradictions in our life and 2) we need to know that overcoming them will involve changing our thinking and choices. I’m not talking about contradictions coming at us from Washington D.C. or CNN or TBN or our boss. I’m talking about up close and personal, on-our-own-front-porch stuff that is hindering our purpose and future. The simple truth is that without repentance, there is no change and without change there is no overcoming contradictions that keep affecting our life and our legacy.
As the people of God assemble today, may hearts of fathers be turned to the coming generation. May fathers in our congregations discern the potential of the youth around them and let their hearts be turned to affirming them, encouraging them and enabling them on to their destiny in Christ. May this be the most memorable Father’s Day with fathers and children turned to each other in love and in honor, grasping the heavenly Father’s heart for the generations to glorify His intent.
statue is a quote attributed to Sir Isaac Newton. It reads something like this: “The reason the present generation can see so far is because it is standing on the shoulders of the former generation.” Is the generation coming after us presently standing on their fathers’ shoulders? Does that generation even know that those shoulders are available? Have we taken that generation and lifted them, no matter what the cost, up and onto our shoulders? Are we expecting them to simply stand alongside us and inherit the same inadequacies and shortcomings we have been willing to live with? Some people rehearse to their children the failures and injustices and less-than-desirable qualities of their heritage. While some boldly abort the coming generation while they are still in the womb, some abort them in a more socially acceptable manner once they are out of the womb. In either case, the future has been robbed of their God-ordained potential. Perhaps it is the job of the mothers to push until they are born and then perhaps it is the job of the fathers to push up until they are securely standing on our shoulders. 
God’s expression of mercy in an office or for you to be the medicine of healing because you can make others laugh. Or maybe He placed your skills and personality as a connector to get people to solutions in a community. Most of the time we are not aware of how God is using the details of our daily lives as a part of His bigger intention, but God watches over you and who you were born to be. He also intends that you outlive anything that contradicts any facet of your multi-faceted purpose and fulfillment.
anticipate the provision or intervention of God if we are not looking to God and His Word. When someone has attempted to say something hopeful or positive about the future I have heard (from Christians) statements like: “But they said ‘such and such’ on the news”. “But the guy who works at my office said ‘such and such’.” “But I read an article on the internet (that was written by a complete stranger without any credentials) and it said ‘such and such’!” Hey, what about NOT looking everywhere else and what about saying: BUT GOD IN HIS WORD SAYS….!
us is insignificant or without a holy calling. Whether we realize it or not, our purpose is a piece of the bigger purpose that God is stewarding. You may be a school bus driver that God positioned in a sphere of protection over three children that the enemy’s trying to take out before they become a principal and mayor and police chief that they were born to be. Perhaps you are raising a child that will affect the medical world in twenty years. Maybe you are living in a particular county so that your taxes can help change it for a God-plan. God is bigger and better planned than the opposition that is against you.
