On the morning of our 10th anniversary, I proudly presented Kathy with a special card I had remembered to buy the day before. It was an expensive one that had gold-embossed raised letters. The 
message on it was very romantic and meaningful. It was the 10th year in a row that I had not forgotten to get her a card. Without reading it she sighed, put it back down on the table and said, “Just once, it would be nice to have something YOU said instead of something you paid a total stranger to say.” Ouch! There was no thank you and no passionate kiss! That evening I was in my time of devotion with the Lord. I was singing the latest song that had already sold over a million copies when Kathy’s response to my card came flooding back through my mind. It was as though the Lord was saying, “I would like to hear a song from you that was not written by someone else.” Ps.98:1 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song”. The Hebrew meaning of the term “new” is “something fresh, a new thing.” In other words, a NEW SONG which is sung to God is one that has not been sung by anyone else. A NEW SONG is one of spontaneity and delight. You are the only one who can sing that NEW SONG to God because you are the only one who truly knows what God means to you.

Do you think Elizabeth was PREPARED to be the mother of the forerunner of the Messiah? In all her prayers for a child, that had definitely never entered her mind! On top of that, Elizabeth was barren; and she and her husband were both well along in years. Age opposed purpose! Age defied destiny. Age contradicted the plans of God! So, no, she was not PREPARED to birth John the Baptist, but she was POSITIONED by God . . . in destiny . . . in purpose . . . in the history of mankind! So many people have been talking about how dark the world is getting. Many are very worried and some don’t hesitate to express their deep fears. One Christian I was told about recently can’t sleep and it is affecting their health. BUT I think I found a SECRET in John 8!! ”Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. Do you think Zacharias eating his bagel and lox at breakfast was PREPARED to meet Gabriel at work that morning? When the gigantic angel suddenly showed up with a telegram from God, it terrified Zacharias. Prophet Isaiah (9:7) assures us that “There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.” The Kingdom of God is the government of God in action—God’s will being acted out (Matt.6:10)—and we are assured in the Word of God that His government will increase with a never-ending increase.

I invite you to fill in the blank: In spite of ______________, the Kingdom of God is advancing. The Kingdom is advancing in spite of anything you can put in that blank. You are part of something that is 
bigger than you are and it is still standing and it is still advancing. (1) The wall is still standing. You and I may only be small pebbles in its makeup but we are part of the wall that is still standing. (2) You and I may not even vaguely resemble King David but we are part of David’s kingly, warring company. (3) You and I may not be Gideon but we are part of the Gideon company that does not consider the odds. We consider Him who has called us. (4) You and I may not be the whole bucket of water that is being thrown on the fire but we are drops in that bucket that are putting out flames.

Paul helped the Christians in Rome to wake up to a matter that would be a vital factor in their future: …”The Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart”… (Rom.10:8, NKJV). Some of us came through an era of religious training and teaching that left us with the understanding that the vital factors of our lives and our future would be the result of what someone else said to us. Some have grown up in dysfunctional families and some have come out of bad marriages thinking that they do not deserve anything more or different than the negative that was said about them. But the helpful instruction of Paul is that the word our ears (and the atmosphere and the environment) need to hear is the word that comes out of our own mouth. But that word must be influenced, must be shaped by THE Word of God: “…that is, the Word of Faith which we proclaim;” (v.8b). What was to come out of the Romans’ mouths was to have been influenced by the instruction of the Word from godly leaders and teachers.

(Melissa Gabler) — If God cloaks something for a time, it is not only to hide it from the devil and his destructive minions, but it is also to hide it from our own self-sabotage. Yes, the devil and self-sabotage are two different things. However, the devil LOVES stoking the flames of self-sabotage! All we have to do is let our fears and concerns fall out of our mouths like kindling for the enemy’s threatening bonfire. So many times we make the devil’s job so easy.

We are being equipped so that the Kingdom of our God can advance in us and through us. It’s going to involve taking dominion and bringing God’s order into all the mountains of culture and into individual lives and into circumstances and into history. Not every act of dominion is going to be as quick as stopping the wind and waves because changing the powers-that-be may take a while in some cases, but let’s do this. Let’s be sons that reach for what’s in reach. Let’s be the sons that bring the order that creation is groaning for. It starts with crying out, “Bid me Come, Lord.” (From Kathy’s article “Bid Me Come”)

There are people who stopped taking medicine or started taking a medicine because an individual, who had no medical training, said they should and the result was disastrous. There are people who 
have brought someone into their life or expulsed someone from their life because an individual said they should and the result was disastrous. There are people who have invested in something an individual told them to invest in and the result was disastrous. We should be very wise in deciding whether to live by something said by others and decide the correctness of it by the truths evident in the Bible. ”…the counsel of the wicked and ungodly is far from me.” (Job 22:18, Amp)

(Kathy Gabler)—Can the Church, after this many centuries of preaching and teaching and experiencing God still have mis-beliefs and mis-understandings about Him and His Word? We don’t want to say, “Amen,” but we can say, “Evidently.” However, the good news is that as long as we are not stubbornly or fearfully determined to stop and camp out on a “someday” or “no way” or “never now”, 
God who is faithful intends to open our understanding of “Thy Kingdom come”. Just like yeast spreading, our understanding should be continually increasing and more and more folks should be realizing that “THY KINGDOM COME” means more than heaven “someday”. It means more than Thy Salvation come or Thy Religion come. It means more than Thy Tradition come and even more than Thy Church come! It might hit a holy nerve to realize that the Kingdom is more than the Church and that it actually encompasses the Church! The Church can be a touchy subject with us Christians because the Church cradles our concepts of Christianity. “Churchianity” provides the platform for our worship and represents God to a community. Churchianity usually defines our expectations upon God and His Word. Even so, when we pray, “Thy Kingdom come”, it can rattle Churchianity and initiate changes. In fact, we need to be aware that “Thy Kingdom come” is going to cause more radical rattles this year, both personally and corporately, because there are some NEW NORMS in the making.

If it were not possible to keep standing in freedom, our Lord would not have commanded us in His Word to do just that. He does not want us to be captive to any degree of slavery. Do you think Mary was PREPARED for a conversation with an angel to end with her being pregnant with the Messiah? Nothing could have prepared her to feel so disqualified in her society yet be so divinely POSITIONED in the plans of God . . . in destiny . . . in purpose . . . in history! Without reading it she sighed, put it back down on the table and said, “Just once, it would be nice to have something YOU said instead of something you paid a total stranger to say.” Ouch! There was no thank you and no passionate kiss! That evening I was in my time of devotion with the Lord. I was singing the latest song that had already sold over a million copies when Kathy’s response to my card came flooding back through my mind. It was as though the Lord was saying, “I would like to hear a song from you that was not written by someone else.” Ps.98:1 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song”. The Hebrew meaning of the term “new” is “something fresh, a new thing.” In other words, a NEW SONG which is sung to God is one that has not been sung by anyone else. A NEW SONG is one of spontaneity and delight. You are the only one who can sing that NEW SONG to God because you are the only one who truly knows what God means to you.
Do you think Joseph was PREPARED to find his fiancé pregnant with the Messiah? The turn of events very likely made Joseph feel betrayed and a victim of injustice. He could easily imagine his name being whispered in snide comments among his peers. His boyish dreams of heroism and purpose never looked like this, yet he was POSITIONED . . . in destiny . . . in purpose . . . in history . . . to be a hero of the faith. As the people of God assemble today, may they be filled with the fullness of God and challenged to a new level in what our Lord has in His purposes for each member of the Body of Christ, as we stand for our families and as we confront the present climate of culture in our nation. “May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” (Eph.3:18-20, KJV)

So many people have been talking about how dark the world is getting. Many are very worried and some don’t hesitate to express their deep fears. One Christian I was told about recently can’t sleep and it is affecting their health. BUT I think I found a SECRET in John 8!! ”Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. So if you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path.” (Jn.8:12, LB)
Do you think Zacharias eating his bagel and lox at breakfast was PREPARED to meet Gabriel at work that morning? When the gigantic angel suddenly showed up with a telegram from God, it terrified Zacharias. Obviously, he was not PREPARED, but he was POSITIONED by God . . . in destiny . . . in purpose . . . in history . . . for that meeting. Awareness of purpose can be easily lost among the stuff of everyday life. Nevertheless, our efficient God is weaving our lives with purpose daily. Growing up on Abraham Avenue, playing Hopscotch and Hide-and-go-seek, Zacharias, Elizabeth, Joseph and Mary had no idea how they would fit in the plans of God and the history of man. Amid all their lessons in history and prophecy from the Torah, they had never pictured themselves as key players in the greatest story ever told. As the people of God assemble today, may the Lord walk through walls of opposition, walls of impossibility, walls individuals have built between themselves and other members of the body of Christ. May He miraculously walk through every barrier into our midst today so that He might release in us and through us His peace, gifts and redemptive power. “That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.” (Jn.20:19, NLT)
Prophet Isaiah (9:7) assures us that “There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.” The Kingdom of God is the government of God in action—God’s will being acted out (Matt.6:10)—and we are assured in the Word of God that His government will increase with a never-ending increase.
bigger than you are and it is still standing and it is still advancing. (1) The wall is still standing. You and I may only be small pebbles in its makeup but we are part of the wall that is still standing. (2) You and I may not even vaguely resemble King David but we are part of David’s kingly, warring company. (3) You and I may not be Gideon but we are part of the Gideon company that does not consider the odds. We consider Him who has called us. (4) You and I may not be the whole bucket of water that is being thrown on the fire but we are drops in that bucket that are putting out flames.
Paul helped the Christians in Rome to wake up to a matter that would be a vital factor in their future: …”The Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart”… (Rom.10:8, NKJV). Some of us came through an era of religious training and teaching that left us with the understanding that the vital factors of our lives and our future would be the result of what someone else said to us. Some have grown up in dysfunctional families and some have come out of bad marriages thinking that they do not deserve anything more or different than the negative that was said about them. But the helpful instruction of Paul is that the word our ears (and the atmosphere and the environment) need to hear is the word that comes out of our own mouth. But that word must be influenced, must be shaped by THE Word of God: “…that is, the Word of Faith which we proclaim;” (v.8b). What was to come out of the Romans’ mouths was to have been influenced by the instruction of the Word from godly leaders and teachers.
(Melissa Gabler) — If God cloaks something for a time, it is not only to hide it from the devil and his destructive minions, but it is also to hide it from our own self-sabotage. Yes, the devil and self-sabotage are two different things. However, the devil LOVES stoking the flames of self-sabotage! All we have to do is let our fears and concerns fall out of our mouths like kindling for the enemy’s threatening bonfire. So many times we make the devil’s job so easy.
We are being equipped so that the Kingdom of our God can advance in us and through us. It’s going to involve taking dominion and bringing God’s order into all the mountains of culture and into individual lives and into circumstances and into history. Not every act of dominion is going to be as quick as stopping the wind and waves because changing the powers-that-be may take a while in some cases, but let’s do this. Let’s be sons that reach for what’s in reach. Let’s be the sons that bring the order that creation is groaning for. It starts with crying out, “Bid me Come, Lord.” (From Kathy’s article “Bid Me Come”)
As the people of God assemble today may their thoughts, their hearts and their actions be about freedom and liberty in Christ. May they rejoice in the freedom He has given them and may they impart that freedom to others through their love, compassion, words and actions. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has chosen me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed” (Lk.4:18, GNT)
May the Lord use us, through our language and our attitudes, to inspire others to lift up their heads and look unto the hills from whence cometh their help. “Now your attitudes and thoughts must all be constantly changing for the better.” (Eph.4:23, Living Bible)

There are people who have invested in something an individual told them to invest in and the result was disastrous. We should be very wise in deciding whether to live by something said by others and decide the correctness of it by the truths evident in the Bible. ”…the counsel of the wicked and ungodly is far from me.” (Job 22:18, Amp)
God who is faithful intends to open our understanding of “Thy Kingdom come”. Just like yeast spreading, our understanding should be continually increasing and more and more folks should be realizing that “THY KINGDOM COME” means more than heaven “someday”. It means more than Thy Salvation come or Thy Religion come. It means more than Thy Tradition come and even more than Thy Church come! It might hit a holy nerve to realize that the Kingdom is more than the Church and that it actually encompasses the Church! The Church can be a touchy subject with us Christians because the Church cradles our concepts of Christianity. “Churchianity” provides the platform for our worship and represents God to a community. Churchianity usually defines our expectations upon God and His Word. Even so, when we pray, “Thy Kingdom come”, it can rattle Churchianity and initiate changes. In fact, we need to be aware that “Thy Kingdom come” is going to cause more radical rattles this year, both personally and corporately, because there are some NEW NORMS in the making.
If it were not possible to keep standing in freedom, our Lord would not have commanded us in His Word to do just that. He does not want us to be captive to any degree of slavery. We have been set free to enjoy freedom within the auspices of His character and redemptive purposes. Living our lives under the wisdom and direction of the Word of God leads us in the liberty of sons/daughters who know their Father desires nothing less than the richness of that purchased freedom. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ Who has brought us to liberty that we may glorify Him who purchased it. ”Plant your feet firmly therefore within the freedom that Christ has won for us, and do not let yourselves be caught again in the shackles of slavery.” (Gal.5:1, Phillips)
July 4th is a celebration about freedom in the USA but we know that, the world over, “if the Son gives you freedom, you are free!”. (Jn.8:36, CEV) “[Freedom in Christ] It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Gal.5:1, NIV) “Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.” (1Pe.2:16, NIV)
The month of JULY IS FOR SETTING OUR EYES ON THE GOAL that is centered in Christ; for getting a solid grip on His purpose for us. “It’s not that I have already reached this goal or have already been perfected, but I pursue it, so that I may grab hold of it because Christ grabbed hold of me for just this purpose.” (Phil 3:12, CEB)
As the people of God assemble today, may they come to be in harmony with each other and endure as they are encouraged by the example of Christ Jesus being taught and ministered in their midst. “May God, who gives you this endurance and encouragement, allow you to live in harmony with each other by following the example of Christ Jesus. Then, having the same goal, you will praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Rom.15:5-6, GW)
