The Wise Seek to Worship Him
WISE MEN
The birth of Jesus who is the Savior of the world was announced to the world in terms supernatural. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, KJV) The means of pronouncement and the observances
and experiences of those involved in the broadcast cannot be explained in mere natural terms. Not only did angels appear to Jewish shepherds but a heavenly phenomenon, that caught the attention of learned Gentile observers, was used to draw those Gentiles to the City of David to worship One whom they would hail as King of the Jews. They were able to predict our Lord’s birth and have been numbered among His earliest worshippers (the gifts themselves an act and type of worship).
Concerning the gold, frankincense, and myrrh, Adam Clarke comments: “Some will have these gifts to be emblematic of the Divinity, regal office, and manhood of Christ. They offered him incense as their God; gold as their king; and myrrh, as united to a human body, subject to suffering and death. The gold was probably a very providential supply, as on it, it is likely, they subsisted while in Egypt.”
The so-called Magi were evidently important persons in their own right. If Herodotus is correct, these men were Medes and were of the learned and priestly caste among the followers of Zoroaster. That would have made them worshippers of only one God and they would have, therefore, rejected polytheism and idolatry. “The simple creed and high morality, which Zoroastrianism in its purest form professed, were well adapted to prepare its faithful disciples to receive a further revelation, and we may reasonably believe that the wise men who had been thus guided to worship the new-born king of the Jews had been faithful to the light afforded to them, for ‘in every nation he that feareth Him (God), and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to Him’ Acts 10:35 (E.W. Maunder, ISBE). Egyptian pharaohs and Babylonian and Medo-Persian monarchs surrounded themselves with wise men. “Originating from the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates, the Magi were religious priests, Chaldeans, physicians, philosophers, astronomers, astrologers, soothsayers, in short, the brain trust of their kingdom.” (Tom Stewart, What Saith the Scripture?) Such are those who were seeking to worship the King of the Jews.

May the Lord God draw our attention beyond false presumption

Getting Past Irritations
Getting past personal irritations and any sense of injustice and all the frustrations that are like prickly fibers in a cocoon to align with God’s word and His ways can get difficult. Deut. 30:11 confirms that in verse 11 even before verse 19 tells us to choose life. Deut. 30:11— This commandment, that I’m commanding you today is not TOO difficult for you, it isn’t TOO much for you, it’s not out of your reach. 12 It’s not on a high mountain–you don’t have to get mountaineers to climb the peak and bring it down to your level and explain it before you can live it. 13 And it’s not across the ocean—you don’t have to send sailors out to get it, bring it back, and then explain it before you can live it. 14 No. The word is right here and now—as near as the tongue in your mouth, as near as the heart in your chest. (Msg) So, difficult or not, choose life. Just do it!

Choose Life
Our Lord commanded us to choose life (Deut.30:19). You’d think that goes without saying. Who, in their right mind, wouldn’t choose life? It sounds simple, but it actually can get complex and difficult, because the first challenge is listening to your spirit instead of your soul! Your spirit is where His Spirit dwells, so choosing life starts with pulling from His Truth and Wisdom instead of how we feel because of throbbing pain or blinding fear or understandable anger. Besides extreme emotions, choices from the soul can be under the influence of squirrelly thinking or deception or bad moods. We have to work past the soul to the spirit to choose life.

May God’s Words Resonate

May the words of Yahveh be alive in you all this week.
May they resonate in your thoughts so that they counsel
you, invigorate you, guide you and fill you with hope.
“When you go, they [the words of your parents’ God]
shall lead you; when you sleep, they shall keep you;
and when you waken, they shall talk with you.”

Conquering Choice
Hunters who go after the Big Five in Africa have to take “enough gun” to bring down their powerful prey. Likewise, we need to understand the personal war in a life cocoon so that we “carry enough gun” and do not show up with a BB gun for a tank fight. The most effective weapon that we have for life’s many Cocoon-Conquering-Quests is CHOICE. Deut 30:19— I have set before you life and death, [Life if you dig out of the cocoon and death if you stay in it ], the blessings and the curses; therefore CHOOSE LIFE.

Inclination of Ear and Application of Heart

May you make your ear attentive (v.2) and seek as for hidden treasure (v.4)
so that you may understand more perfectly and profitably the knowledge of
Yahveh. As it has been well put, “the inclination of the ear and the application
of the heart”. May you discover the knowledge of God that is not to be found
in nature or creatures or the writings of philosophers and heady, pithy literary
collections but rather by His Word and presence.
“Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and discover the knowledge
of God.” (Prov.2;5, CEB)

Future Beyond the Cocoon
It is a well known fact that it will cripple a butterfly if, for any reason, their cocoon is opened prematurely. It’s essential that they stretch and strain and develop through their tough place in order to have the strength it takes to fly in the future. If we don’t, for some reason, process through our tough places we won’t have the character, changes, revelation, stamina, skills and strength that we need for our future. Cocoons are simply not optional, process is key to change and growth. If you are in one of your life-cocoons right now, be it physical, mental, circumstantial, relational or financial, oxygen and change and resolve are reachable. Be encouraged, you do have a future beyond it.

Dealing With Spider Webs
Politicians and idealists seem to only be able to come up with ideas to swat the spiderwebs but don’t seem to be interested in dealing with the spider-sin.
”Those who hide their sins won’t succeed, but those who confess and give them up will receive mercy.” (Prov.28:13, CEB)
“Ephraim tried to hide his guilt. He thought his sins were a secret, but he will be punished”

In Cocoon Times
Psalm 139:16 (Paraphrased): “When I had not yet existed for even one moment, I was commissioned by God’s purpose. Before I was even wrapped as an embryo in my mother’s womb I was marked and approved by God’s eternal wisdom and greatness.” As surely as we were in the womb being transformed to come forth as a living being, reflecting the likeness of our natural fathers, we are in “cocoons” in life being transformed to reflect the likeness and character of our heavenly Father. What I mean by “cocoons” in life is the tough, tight places in life, times when we are caught in a web of circumstances or conditions that have us hot and bothered, barely able to breathe and can’t see a way out. In “cocoon times”, we can either walk in faith and keep doing what we know to do and realize God is going to utilize it for our growth and development, or we can try to run and escape . . . maybe for an entire lifetime. Or we can take a machete to the thing, pitch a fit and tear up jack! (Of course that very rarely fixes real-life situations and usually makes them worse!) The bottom line is we only do damage when we refuse to change as needed.

Agreement With the Will of God
As sons of God our confession must come into agreement with what already is:
the will and purposes of God (Mt.6:10). Jn.6:6—”for He Himself knew what He
would do.” THEN comes: Matt.16:19—“I will give you the keys of the Kingdom
of heaven and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and
whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Learn to Live in God’s Will

As the people of God assemble today, may they receive profitable
instruction from the Holy Scriptures that cause us to learn to live
in conformity to God’s will and to behave honorably.
”All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is
profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of
error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness
[learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and
privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and
moral courage];” (2Tim.3:16, Amp)

Have a Good Day
Today is a good day. May this be your good day in realizing and embracing
the blessings and protection of Jehovah God. Circumstances for the people
of God turned completely around, from things shaping up to wipe out the
entire Jewish population to people asking to be circumcised so they could
become Jews and partake in their obvious favor and blessings. Satan has
not yet learned the lesson that attempts to destroy the people of God end
up increasing them. Have a good day.
“And in each province and in each city wherever the king’s commandment
and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a banquet and a good
day. And many of the people of the land became Jews, for the fear of the
Jews fell upon them.” (Esther 8:17, Jubilee Bible)

See What Shall Be

The prophetic mind can see what others simply cannot. Jesus was in communion with the Father and had His mind, His manner of thinking (Matt.14:23; Jn.5:19 “likewise” means “in the same way”). The mindset that is not prophetic only looks at present conditions. The prophetic mindset looks at what shall be. Abraham only considered Sarah’s dead womb. But God considered the life He was going to put in that womb and did not hesitate to inform Abram that his seed would be as the number of the stars of the sky (Gen.15:5). Prophetic voices have God’s perspective on what is and what shall be and refuse to be bound by the limitations of the poverty of the human experience, and refuse to get into agreement with it by speaking it.

Day of Triumphing in Christ

“This is the day which the Lord hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Ps.118:24)
On this passage Clarke basically says that since the Lord
has called us to triumph, this is the day He has appointed
for that purpose. He seems to be claiming it for himself,
as should we—this time period, this season, even this very
day is the day of our triumphing in Christ.
MARTY GABLER brings an encouraging word in this 2 min. audio file.
“I have held back the enemy by My Hand.”

Speaking to Challenges
We must speak prophetically to challenges. The sons and daughters of God must have a mindset that is prophetic. The prophetic mind thinks on the same scale that God Almighty thinks on. God does not speak “ant” language; He speaks “giant” language. Jesus was thinking, “We can feed these 5,000 people.” (Jn.6) Someone had to be available to go with what Jesus already knew He would do. Jesus already knows what He will do in our families, churches, cities and nation. He is looking for prophetic capacity for the purpose of prophetic declaration and participation.

Meeting Challenges

There are great challenges before us now and challenges yet to come upon this
world. Those challenges must not go unmet. And who better to meet them than
those who have been with Jesus? Each son of God and daughter of God is being
tested by Holy Spirit because Jesus wants each of us to participate (Jn.20:21; Gal.4:1-7).

Strength for the Weary
As the people of God assemble today, may the weary receive strength and the weak receive power.
Isa 40:27-31 says, Why do you say, . . . “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my just claim is passed over by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who WAIT upon the LORD will renew their strength. [vigor, physical strength, ability, power, fruitfulness, wealth.] They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary [exhausted from labor], they will walk and not be faint. [fatigued, weakened by weariness]” (NIV)
