Hearing and Training

The following list is not only how the prophetic lifestyle is lived out, it is also ways in which He trains us for a prophetic lifestyle.  This is not a comprehensive list.  There are so many ways to hear from the Alpha and Omega.  We don’t all have the same exact experiences because we each have a personal relationship with God.  The way you hear has to do with this most important relationship of your life! But, as you’ll see, there are similarities in ways we all hear.
1.)  Coincidences: the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but seem to have some connection. (Webster’s Dictionary)  Coincidences can easily be put in the I don’t want to be weird category, so they can easily be ignored.  Pay attention! Remember, God is working on many levels, so why would we not experience coincidences?
2.) DeJa-Vu: a feeling that one has seen or heard something before. (Webster’s Dictionary) Nope, not spooky at all, rather a fantastic training experience! If you have one simply ask what you need to see.  If you don’t get an answer, perhaps you were being trained to pay attention.
3.) Dreams: of course God speaks to us in dreams.  Our conscious mind is out of the way.
4.) Visions: are like a movie in your head or right before your eyes.
5.) Double-take: is that thing which makes you look again because you thought you saw something and it ends up not being there.
6.) Feelings: are about a knowing in your gut, excitement out of nowhere, uneasiness out of nowhere.
7.) Urges: to pray, do something, call someone, go somewhere.
8.) Hearing: still small voice or loud and clear.
9.) Thoughts: came out of nowhere.  You weren’t even thinking about that subject and the thought won’t go away.  It just sits in your mind.
10.) The place between awake and asleep: the mind is not in the way here.  From my experience these moments have been very clear.
11.) In conversation: something strikes a chord, confirms something you heard, or an idea comes “out of nowhere”.  An inspirational conversation, if you will.

Blame and Self-Pity

Blame and self-pity are big signals that anger is in residence.  BLAME builds a prison of offense and/or condemnation around you.  Forgiveness is the ONLY key to that prison.  We must watch for BLAME in our thinking and our conversations.  “Self-Pity” is a big signal that anger is unresolved:  “I was hurt,” usually justifies anger rather than resolves it.  Just like a person who justifies their actions has not repented of them, rehearsing the hurts is refusing to let go of offense.  It is blocking the CHANGE needed.  Being “hurt” is “tails” and “BLAME”  is “heads” of the same coin.  We can start with “heads” and describe the action of the offender; or cut to the result, “tails,” and describe the offense taken.—Kathy Gabler

What Are You Hearing?

How do you know if what you are hearing is God? Well, does it line up with His word? For instance, murder and adultery… not God! Also, He trains you to hear Him. “The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them.” (Proverbs 2:12)  Sometimes we train ourselves to ignore the prophetic lifestyle because we “don’t want to be weird”.  This really is an epic life we are meant to live—not fairytale or fantasy, but epic.  Why epic? Epic is quite unlike fairytale or fantasy that denote magic, rainbows and butterflies, and other-worldly superhumans. “Epic” denotes work, grit, fight, humans living their destiny and winning.  So, don’t ignore His training.  Don’t ignore that relationship.  (Fifth excerpt from Melissa’s article “Prophetic Lifestyle”.)

In The Face of Great Challenges

We are facing issues that generations before us did not face. Within moments of events taking place in remote parts of the world, we are watching them in real time. There are great challenges before us now and challenges yet to come. Those challenges must not go unmet. (Isa.45:15, The Voice) “Cyrus said You have kept yourself hidden from others, but You are indeed God, who saved Israel in the face of great challenges.” Great Jahweh who saved Israel in the face of great challenges has not run out of solutions for present generations. Just as He used ordinary people in biblical times, He is still using them in these challenging times. We are praying you discover daily that you are trusting in Mighty God to help you meet the challenges in your life.  (Marty’s Daily Discovery as heard on TEXAS PRAISE RADIO at the bottom of the hour 24hrs/day.) www.txpraise.com

Opportunities, Timing and Connections

The prophetic lifestyle opens opportunities, timing, and connections.  Opportunities: having the ears to hear to be at the right place at the right time for yourself and others. Timing: none of us understand the timing of God because He is working on so many levels.  It takes a prophetic lifestyle to see beyond the limited vision of our normal dimensions. It can keep you sane where timing is concerned. Connection: Brings lives together for God team-ups, projects, events, etc.  We were never meant to do life alone (1 Corinthians 12:20-21).  In this day and age, this way of life is a total necessity for the body of Christ.  (Fourth excerpt from Melissa’s article “Prophetic Lifestyle”.)

Assembling and Admonishing

As the people of God assemble today, may they habitually admonish and encourage one another concerning the faithfulness of God in these days and may they have a heart to habitually assemble so that others may be edified.  “Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.” (Heb.10:25, Amp)

What Shall Be

A prophetic mindset doesn’t merely consider present circumstances but looks into the future to see what shall be. When Isaiah prophesied the birth of JESUS, he did not say, “For unto us a child shall be born.” He said, “For unto us a child IS born.” (Isa.9:6) He spoke in the prophetic perfect tense which declares an action already completed. His prophetic mindset was deep within him and came out of his mouth declaring that what Jehovah intended would, indeed, come to pass (Rom.4:21). The prophet got into agreement with God in spite of present circumstances (Rom.10:16; 2K.6:15-17). Only in agreement with God (the mindset of the One Who stands above it all), and His purposes for the advancing of His Kingdom, is there hope that overcomes the impossibility of the challenges of a generation. All those who are born again of THE Prophet have some degree of THE Prophet in them and so, are prophetic.

Representative of Heaven

You are a representative of heaven during your lifetime. “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9, Amplified)  (Third excerpt from Melissa’s article “Prophetic Lifestyle”.)

Awaken to True Concerns

May the Lord awaken people to true concerns about life and our nation. (Amos 6:3-6, Msg)  “Woe to you who are rushing headlong to disaster! Catastrophe is just around the corner!…  Woe to those who live only for today, indifferent to the fate of others! Woe to the playboys, the playgirls, who think life is a party held just for them! Woe to those addicted to feeling good—life without pain! those obsessed with looking good—life without wrinkles! They could not care less about their country going to ruin.” May people awaken and embrace biblical values, and think and act righteously so that our families and our nation not go to ruin. We are praying you discover daily that you are awake to biblical values and righteousness for the sake of others.  (Marty’s Daily Discovery as heard on TEXAS PRAISE RADIO at the bottom of the hour 24hrs/day.)

What is a Prophetic Lifestyle?

What is a prophetic lifestyle? It is hearing and seeing God’s intention about the here and now, and what is to come on a regular basis.  Or as my Mom puts it, “PROPHETIC” is God revealing Himself, His thoughts, His will, His insights, His plans, His wisdom or instructions or warnings or the plans of hell.  Why is a prophetic lifestyle important? A prophetic lifestyle starts with a hearing ear. The statement  “He who has ears to hear let him hear” is made in all of the following passages: Matthew 11:15; 13:9; Mark 4:9; Luke 8:8; Revelation 2:7; 3:6.  To be said this many times must mean it’s rather important. This lifestyle lives in agreement with the intentions of God and stops enemy assignments from manifesting on the earth. (Second excerpt from Melissa’s article “Prophetic Lifestyle”.)

December is For Going Over

The month of DECEMBER IS FOR GOING OVER. December is for going over things that have mounted up and stubbornly stood in opposition. We will not wait for the New Year but will go over the top of opposition and defeat at the end of the year so that we may have a head start at the beginning of the year and our going over shall set the pace for 2018. ”…YOU SHALL GO OVER and take possession of that good land.” (Deut.4:22, ESV)

Prophetic Lifestyle

It’s our time to be who God intended us to be.  First things first, however. Let me clarify.  A prophetic lifestyle does not mean you have to be a prophet.  The office of prophet is designated by God and recognized by the 5 fold ministry.  We are all capable of living a prophetic lifestyle without being a prophet. (First excerpt from Melissa’s article “Prophetic Lifestyle”.)

God Was Kinda Wondering

Of all the things God could possibly wonder about, the Bible tells us He was wondering where His interceding people were. Is 59:16—And He saw that there was no man and wondered…(“wondered” 8074  shamem- to be desolate, to be appalled, to stun, to stupefy; to be deflowered, to be deserted, to be appalled, causing horror (Brown-Driver-Briggs). Could it actually be that this God who loved Israel so much felt “deserted” or that the Arbiter of the universe was actually “stunned” or maybe even “stupefied” that people who knew His precepts and had heard His voice so clearly through His prophets could possibly leave His beloved Israel uncovered from lack of prayer? While we have a great host of people who want to speak for God and prophesy (some eagerly volunteering to prophesy judgment and doom), where are those falling on their face and interceding? 1Tim 2:1 “I exhort therefore, that, FIRST OF ALL, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;” (KJV).

The Literal Among the Symbolism

When considering a dream or vision, watch for literal aspects among the symbolism.  During the dream, this dreamer (mentioned in my 11-24-17 post) was anxious about who could help and who would be responsible for the outcome of this situation.  She was not able or even skilled to help with this medical situation. That detail indicated this was not God commissioning her nor a God-to-Man communication with instructions for her to hurry and handle her daughter’s challenge in real life. This dream was from within her and revealed her concerns  regarding her baby having a baby.

Her daughter had just been appointed as a new pastor.  The anxiousness was because of the many factors a baby implies.  She was worried that her daughter may lack experience or ability or maturity or experience to handle what she was beginning.  Her dream brought the anxiousness that was already within her up into her awareness like a flood.  That is why she woke up feeling frantic with a sense of urgency.  When the dream revealed her inner fretting, that she had not realized, she knew she must choose to trust God instead of herself and come to relief and resolve through effectual prayer for her baby girl.  (Last excerpt from Kathy’s article “Considering Dreams and Visions”.)

Relationship and Being Proven

Have you ever noticed that there is a tendency in many people to want to advance beyond others, to advance in the exercise of authority whether they have been approved or not?  In 2Sam.15, David’s son Absalom pushed for and expected to be able to take authority in areas where he hadn’t been proven. We find the scriptural principle of the process of being proven in 1Tim.3:10.  Biblical principal tends to follow this pattern:  (1) Process while walking out relationship;  (2) Process leads to being proven;  (3)  Process and being proven leads to a track record that follows the principal of Lk.16:10– “faithful in little can be trusted in much”.  We are praying you discover daily that you are staying in relationship long enough to be proven so you can be trusted with much.  (Marty’s Daily Discovery as heard on TEXAS PRAISE RADIO at the bottom of the hour 24hrs/day.) The Setting of a Dream

When considering a dream or vision, note the setting.  See if it is a reference to an event, season, relationship, pattern, timing, etc.  For example, if the setting is Grandma’s house, the dream message is likely dealing with family history or something from your childhood. The setting of this lady’s dream (in my 11-24-17 post) was a time and place of  birthing or a time and place of new responsibility, a new beginning and a new focus. That was a clue to understanding the reason for this dream, especially since her baby, (literally her youngest daughter), was in a time and place of just such new responsibility.  (Ninth excerpt from Kathy’s article “Considering Dreams and Visions”.)

Home Safe Haven

By end of day, have you felt that you were in an environment that had no understanding of your beliefs and values? Did it press on you like a heavy weight that seemed to preoccupy your mind? You and each of your family members need a place that is familiar, a place that is a sanctuary from cynicism and expressions of hopelessness. May your home be a place of faith where you are edified and the Name of the Lord is spoken and His blessings are enjoyed.  (Prov.24:3, Amp) “Through skillful and godly Wisdom is a house (a life, a home, a family) built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation],”  We are praying you discover daily that you are making your home into a safe haven of faith and love.  (Marty’s Daily Discovery as heard on TEXAS PRAISE RADIO at the bottom of the hour 24hrs/day.)

Watch for Symbolism in a Dream

When considering a dream or vision, watch for symbolism.  Symbolism is an object, person or action or event that represents something other than itself.  If cats are talking or dogs are driving your car, you’re “not in Kansas anymore” and you’re not talking “literal.”  Thankfully, we do not have to be experts on symbolism to discover what something symbolizes.  We can find out what a symbol represents through prayerfully brainstorming it or researching it until we find an option that bears witness concerning the dream.  (By the way, when you do get understanding about a symbol, record it.  It is likely to become part of your dream language or dream vocabulary and it will usually have the same significance in future dreams.)  (Eighth excerpt from Kathy’s article “Considering Dreams and Visions”.)

Look to the Hills

As the people of God assemble today, may they “look to the hills from whence comes their help”. (Ps.121:1) May they look to the place where God’s presence is welcomed and enthroned. May they look to the place from whence come the messengers of peace whose feet are beautiful as they “bring good news, good news of good things and who announce salvation and who say, ‘Your God reigns’”. (Isa.52:7)

What a Day Can Hold

From the spontaneous song Melissa Gabler sang Sunday morning:
You don’t understand what a day can hold. With each breath you take things can change.  You don’t understand what this day can hold.  With the next breath you take life can change. With each step you take won’t you expect the impossible? Won’t you expect the answer? Don’t you understand that a day sits in the palm of His hand? With each breath you take life can change.  So, won’t you get ready for the impossible at your door? Because each day sits in the palm of His hand and there’s nothing outside of His grasp, nothing too far for His eyes to see.

Extreme and Strange Dreams

A good friend of mine had a strange dream and could not stop thinking about it.  She said, “I’ve been asking the Lord what He’s saying, but I don’t have an interpretation.” In her dream she was in a hospital maternity ward.  There was an infant she did not know but she felt concern and responsibility for the baby.  When she went to change the baby’s diaper, she realized this baby was pregnant and about to give birth.  She frantically sought out help but the nurse was too busy with other patients.  She woke up with a sense of frantic concern and urgency that lingered for days and she desperately sought the Lord to understand what He was saying.

Extreme and strange dreams sometimes seem so far out of our control that it is easy to conclude they are not natural and therefore must be SUPER-natural in source.  We then assume God is the one that is saying something but don’t realize His silence is saying something, “It is not me talking.”  The frustration gets thicker because we cannot imagine how such a strange dream experience could come up from within us!  It is a good thing at this point to look at the dream again and dissect it.  (Seventh excerpt from Kathy’s article “Considering Dreams and Visions”. More on this subject in coming posts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.)

Give Thanks is a Good Thing

It is a good thing to be reminded on one special day of the year that it is our full time occupation every day (while going out, while being out and while coming in) to give thanks to the LORD for goodness is not just an attribute, it is what God is and He can be nothing else. Let there be giving of thanks (in both speaking and singing) to Jahveh, who is most gracious.   “It is a good and delightful thing to give thanks to the Lord, To sing praises to Your name, O Most High” (Ps.92:1, Amp)
