Definitions and Disappointments

Kathy — Being quick to put our expectations and definitions on a word from God can set us up for disappointment, because we know in part. We must allow God to define terms and add parts. Through the process we more fully understand what He said up front. So, no matter how contradictory or upsetting a part might seem, we can rest assured when all the parts finally come together, God’s intent and purpose will prevail. Isa.46:10, TPT — “I declare from the beginning how it will end and foretell from the start what has not yet happened. I decree that my purpose will stand, and I will fulfill my every plan.”  (On March 3, 2023 Kathy will be speaking on “The Kingdom in This Present World” at Kingdom Congress at Grace Church in Willis,TX. The meetings will not be livestreamed. For detailed information go to martygabler.com/kc2023/)

Departure Platform or Kingdom Mandate?

As long as there are a people who feel they have their “ticket stamped” to go to a “much better place,” there will be no reform of what they deem to be merely an exit platform, rather than a Kingdom mandate (cf.Jn.20:21;Lk.9:2;Jn.16:7). If the departure platform is somewhat rickety, people will just try to stand still and hope the train out of there arrives soon. With such a view, no one reforms or rebuilds the platform; they simply grip what is available to grip and hope to be off of it as soon as possible. The emphasis today upon the sudden coming of the Lord isn’t about Him, it is about us. The religious pundits pounding their pulpits exclaiming the quick return of our Lord are getting hearty (and well financed) “Amens!” in response to their promises of sudden escape from disappointments, rudely jostled comfort zones and nerve-racking prognostication. We have been taught by pop-theology to use faith for immediate relief, not long-term endurance, not long-term results (Heb.11:13 does not figure into Esau’s demands for immediate relief).  The Esau mindset of blowing off the coming generations and spending what you’ve got on relief for the present generation flies well in today’s skies. Joseph did not get immediate results (or relief) after his prophetic dream and prophetic pronouncement. He and Daniel and Esther were sent ahead to “preserve a posterity,” “continue a remnant” and “save lives.” (Gen.45:7 Amplified) Joseph stood and stood and took ground “until the Word of the Lord proved him” and he was not proven to guarantee him plenty of airtime and notoriety but for the survival of a nation (Ps.105:18). He was not dealt the luxurious right of faith for immediate relief or escape. But the result was the salvation of a nation and its being propelled into the future of its destiny for Jehovah’s purposes and Name’s sake.  (On March 3, 2023 MARTY will be speaking on “The Kingdom in This Present World” at Kingdom Congress at Grace Church in Willis,TX. Moving From Defensive Position to Offensive

MELISSA–The initial hit from the enemy might require you to go on the defense, but you never stay there. I will explain this in a tactical way. I took self-defense classes for a number of years. One of my instructors recently said, “We teach you to defend yourself one time. We will never teach you to stay in a defensive position. You must counter, control, and finish the fight.” Well, my goodness. What strategy! After you defend yourself one time from your enemy’s attack you then strike back with the weapons and skill God has given you. You can’t stay just in the defensive position. You propel forward because He already set up your counter measures and you are well armed, and able! What are your counter measures? Number one: Scripture. Number two: your Holy Spirit-breathed prophetic words. Other than that, whatever God has personally set up for you. Ask Him to show you and open your eyes to see! Don’t get bogged down in the fear of it. Look for His provision because it is already there. Isaiah 54:17-“no weapon formed against you shall prosper” is not an afterthought. It is solid forethought!

Discernment is Seeing a Difference

KATHY—I knew an older gentleman who was called to be an intercessor and that calling was confirmed through a prophetic word.  He had not recognized the calling, nor could he receive the word, because of his definition of an intercessor.  His belief was that an intercessor was a person who prayed for many hours every day.  His experience indicated that was neither his lifestyle nor his desire; so, he could not believe he could ever be an intercessor.   After a conversation with a discerning friend, he discovered intercession is not bound to one particular lifestyle and he opened his heart to the call of God.  His misunderstanding had been keeping him from fulfillment and effectual purpose for years.  Discernment is about seeing a difference that will make a difference.  Discernment turns the light on so we can take action and make adjustments. Ps.119:130,Amp—“The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.”

Dreaming of Dreams Fulfilled

As the people of God assemble today may they dream while they are wide awake. May they dream of answered prayer, of facilitated, fulfilled life-dreams and fulfilled hopes and expectancies for their family members and their brothers and sisters in Christ. Eph.1:11-12,Amp—“In Him we also were made [God’s] heritage (portion) and we obtained an inheritance; for we had been foreordained (chosen and appointed beforehand) in accordance with His purpose, Who works out everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His [own] will, 12 So that we who first hoped in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him have been destined and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory!”

Dreams Coming True

In 2023 I am praying to see a lot of posts that start with: “Hey, you guys, God is awesome! Another dream just came true!!!”

Do I Trust God?

(MELISSA)— As of late my meditation topic has been Trust.  You know: “reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.” (dictionary com)  It should be a natural byproduct of being a believer. I thought so until God asked me if I trusted Him.  Of course… wait, do I?! That’s an answer I thought was sure at this point in my life.  The amazing thing is in that moment, trust made sense for the first time.  All of a sudden there was a relief in my core that I’m not sure I have ever felt.  Without Him saying a word, there was an understanding that actually trusting God meant to actually let go of needing to know the process of getting to an answer.  (MELISSA will be hosting, leading worship and speaking at Kingdom Congress March 1-3, 2023)

Finding Security

KATHY—Does God ever send us a word that conflicts with our personal beliefs?  Yes.  It’s not that God is out to upset our apple cart.  It is that He loves us too much to let us continue finding security in our beliefs that are tainted by error, warped by experience or hindered by misunderstanding.  These things will leave us at dead ends, frustrated and unfulfilled at some point in our destiny, and He loves us too much to simply allow that.  Prov.3:26,NLT—“for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.”

What You Dwell on Determines Your Hope

If we tend to look back and find ourselves distressed over expectancies and hopes that did not come to pass in our lives in the past year or we begin to consider what seem to be impossible/inevitable challenges of the future, why don’t we not dwell there but begin to make declarations like: I will not allow any person nor any adverse circumstance to determine the lifespan of the hope God originally put in me. Phil.1:6,Msg—“There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.”
