Though You Walk in the Midst of Trouble

“Though you walk in the midst of trouble, may the Lord revive you; May He stretch forth His hand against the wrath of your enemies, And may His right hand save you. The Lord will accomplish what concerns you. [**We should declare out loud that the Lord will accomplish what concerns us**] Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” [**We should declare out loud that the Lord will not forsake the works of His hands**] (Taken from Ps 138:7-8)

Contend, Wage Warfare and Heed

Do you have a word or promise of God that has not come to pass in your life? Then (1) CONTEND—Deut.2:24 “begin to possess… and contend”; “contend”: to excite oneself against a foe,  (2) WAGE WARFARE— 1Tim.1:18 “wage the good warfare”: expedition, campaign, (3) HEED—2Pe.1:19 “…the prophetic word which you do well to heed”:  to attach oneself to; to be given to or addicted to; to devote thought and effort to.  Seems that while we are expecting God to do it all, there is a considerable amount we can be doing.

Putting on Jesus

MELISSA—A practical way to pray is by putting on Jesus: Romans 13:11-14 “Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.  Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”  – Back to the above mentioned side note, you “put Jesus on” through relationship and the prayer that flows from that relationship hits the target because it comes from His thoughts and ways which stand above anything happening here! (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Discerning-Obedience

KATHY—I sat at lunch with a friend who is a real trooper in the trenches.  As I listened to her heart after God, the thought came to me, ‘The only thing that can stop her from getting to God’s intentions would be getting worn out on the way.’  I made a decree over her, “This year, you will be quick to discern the difference between obligation and obedience.”  The enemy cunningly lays snares for a compassionate heart to distract them by the needs of others while they’re on the way to a God-mandate.  If distraction can deplete our energy, hell can hinder the purpose and timing of God.  We must be wise this year and budget our efforts as diligently as our pocket books.

Father God Will Never Leave Us

As the people of God assemble today may they cease to focus on those matters that press them with fear and cause their hearts to be troubled and consider defeat. May they worship and sing victoriously and preach zealously of the victory of the risen Christ and the promises of Father God Who has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb.13:5). Ps.25:3,Amp—“Indeed, none of those who [expectantly] wait for You will be ashamed; Those who turn away from what is right and deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed (humiliated, embarrassed).”

Ordinary or Holy Ground?

Where you are standing may look like ordinary ground at first glance. Where you are presently, may seem like a wilderness without purpose but there is an all-wise, loving Father who in His wisdom and within His carefully planned timetable of events says, “Take off your shoes so that you do not tread thoughtlessly on ground and time that I have set apart for a purpose.”  “Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” (Ex.3:5, NKJV)

A Practical Way to Pray

MELISSA—Here are some practical ways to pray during this time.  (Quick side note, our first priority in wartime prayer is to tend to our relationship with our God.  It’s through that relationship that we learn to trust the One who created this earth, and know how to pray from divine truth.)  Back to prayer, 1. A practical way to pray is tongues.  Praying in tongues is speaking mysteries that only God can understand.  1 Corinthians 14:2 “For one who speaks in an unknown tongue does not speak to people but to God; for no one understands him or catches his meaning, but by the Spirit he speaks mysteries [secret truths, hidden things].”  There’s no babbling going on here, just full-on pure interaction with the King.  So, this means the soul can’t get in the way, nor can what we just saw on the news.

I Will Restore

KATHY—Perhaps we could paraphrase Joel 2:25 like this:  I will restore the years swallowed up because you did not realize the significance of MY purpose and destiny in your life.  The circumstances were forces that I used to change you, to build character, to build strength, to complete a work within you and to bring about the right timing and conditions for My purpose in you.

The Contagion of Cynicism

The attitude of cynicism tends to be contagious: the attitude of the person who has been somewhere and it was a disappointing venue, now others don’t want to go there; the attitude of the person who was married and it was a disappointing experience, now others don’t want to take the chance on marriage; the attitude of the person who went all out to succeed but they ended up broke and embarrassed for having even tried, now others are afraid to step out. Cynicism displaces anticipation and induces lethargy. We must dwell on the God of the impossible and His Word that brings our focus back to all possibility (Matt.19:26). He is God and will never cease being everything He has always been. Our experiences plus the experiences of others, or even the lack of experiences, do not determine the ability or reluctance of God to do wonders among His people. The Bible does not say, “All things are possible to him who has always had a perfect track record.” But it does say, “… If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mk.9:23, NKJV)

Prayer During Times of War

MELISSA–Here are some thoughts on prayer during times of war, such as we are dealing with at this time.  In Matthew 6:7 Jesus gives insight on prayer, “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”  Vain repetitions here means: “To chatter, be long-winded, utter empty words, stammer, repeat”.  In times like these there is a tendency to just rattle off every fear and concern we have.  Jesus gave good advice here as he explained in verse 8, “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”  We need to come to God prepared to hear an answer and not just to throw up our worries all over Him.  This really came to life for me recently when I had just had one of those days where my concern list got filled up.  That evening I sat down to be quiet and listen when, all of a sudden, I was standing in this beautiful garden.  The trees caught my attention because they seemed lively and animated.  As I was taking in their beauty they all turned in one direction and I realized they were responding to the Lord walking through the garden.  I saw Him walking toward me when this thought hit me, “He knows”. In that moment I literally felt my shoulders and body relax.  I knew He knew about all of those things on my list.  Not only did He know, He already had an answer for each of them and my part was to simply trust.  As we navigate this time of war we don’t have to rattle off our fears to God.  He knows not only what’s manifesting but what is behind each manifestation.

Yahweh Above all Else

As the people of God assemble today may they sing praises that declare the value of Yahweh and His Word above all else. May they speak of and exemplify trust and dedication to Most High God so that the coming generations can see the value of putting their hope and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and may they experience the comfort of the safety and wholeness of belonging to the body of Christ. Isa.26:4,Amp—“Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].”

Turning to the Bible

May there arise within the heart of America a dissatisfaction and weariness with unrighteousness and ungodliness and may there be a turning to the truths of God’s Word, the Bible.  “Uprightness and right standing with God (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) elevate a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Prov.14:34, Amp)

Big Battles

MELISSA—Of the battles currently happening, the biggest battle going on right here amongst us is our children vs. Molech.  Molech was the god of the Ammonites and Phoenicians to whom some Israelites sacrificed their infants (see Leviticus 18:21).  I don’t think it can get more obvious that evil is after the children.  The spirit of the Molech agenda is about conforming children (who make future adults/leaders) into confused, damaged, mindless and anomalous automatons that can be easily controlled and enslaved.  This is proof that it is powers and principalities we are warring against (Eph.6:12) and all of the misguided individuals hyping evil rhetoric are simply the victimized puppets.  If people think all of this is crazy, they better understand that this thing is steadily cranking up.  Early in the year 2022 my Dad heard, “By halloween of 2022 the underbelly of the USA will be exposed.”  And, to a considerable degree, it has with articles and news features even using the headline with the word “underbelly”.  All these types of, may I say, “explosive” issues show us that we better be aware and prepared for what’s just ahead. So, it may be a good idea for us all to pray and to get involved, at some level, in the culture: 1Tim.2:12,Amp—“First of all, then, I urge that petitions (specific requests), prayers, intercessions (prayers for others) and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all people,  2  for kings and all who are in [positions of] high authority, so that we may live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”   Matt.5:16,Amp—“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

The Sabotaging of Anticipation

KATHY—The Father-son relationship is where anticipation is often sabotaged.  If all we can see in the mirror is who we are now or any given moment, instead of who we were born to be, there is no anticipation because we are not thinking like our Father.  (“As a man continues to think in his heart, so is he”, Prov.23:7)  If we see ourselves as “only human” or not worthy or capable to act in our Father’s authority and power, that roots back to relationship and sonship issues.  If we have to rebuild our sense of covenant every time that doubt or condemnation or failure knocks on our door, we won’t come close to anticipation or God-outcomes.

Jesus Has Outscored the Devil

We are reminded regularly that the devil is growing more angry as “he realizes how short his time is getting” and that, after all, “he is the ruler of this age”. But being the very embodiment of a philosophical self-centered, narcissistic viewpoint and an influential entity upon a high percentage of duped humanity is far different from being in charge. Ps.24:1—“The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”  God has not given over the earth to the devil while He bites His nails hoping we will be able to hold on until we escape. In Matt.6:13 “evil” means full of labors, annoyances, hardships; toils, perils; causing pain and trouble. Jn10:10—Jesus said that the devil’s baggage includes stealing, killing and destroying but that the Kingdom qualities of Jesus include “life and that more abundantly”. Jesus has outscored the devil at every turn.

Current Battles

MELISSA—It would appear that we are currently in the midst of WW III, it just looks a little different in 2023 than it did in wars past.  Let me explain by breaking it down into battles currently happening. The Russia vs. Ukraine battle: Let me start by saying, I do believe it is a war zone over there and people’s lives are being greatly and horrendously affected.  Many still seem to be wondering as to why this is happening.  War is fueled and affected by what is happening in other dimensions and there are powers and principalities that are stirred up and causing uproars.  People are pawns of these spiritual uproars and that is why the truth is not easy to find.  I say all of this to remind the sons and daughters of God that it is of utmost importance to be led by the Holy Spirit when praying over this situation.  Only He knows the hearts of men and what is truly going on. (As she mentioned in the paragraph above, Melissa will share thoughts on battles that are currently happening in her next few posts.)

Discernment

KATHY—Wisdom would have us at least take note of contradictions that burst into our lives to discover or discern if they are a wake-up call from the Holy Spirit.  We must live ready to believe in God more than our beliefs if there is a show-down between the two.  I believe there will be such show-downs coming in the remainder of this decade because the Kingdom, like leaven, is spreading in the earth.  God is moving forward in the already written history of His people, building His church and maturing His sons.  When these confrontations come, we have three major resources to set and confirm our course: the Word, godly counsel and discernment.

There are five different words translated “discern or discernment” in the Old Testament. Their meanings include “to scrutinize or look intently at so as to recognize what is going on, an experienced gaze, to hear intelligently, to separate mentally (or distinguish), to be cunning, to diligently direct, to feel, to know by seeing, to perceive or to discover.”  Discernment by dictionary definition means to separate or distinguish, to see or understand the difference or to make a distinction.  In 1 Cor 12, another dimension is added to the meaning of discernment.  In this setting, discernment means “to judge the purity of something, as in to detect any mixture in its source or motive.”  When discernment comes as a gift from God, as in I Cor 12:10, it is God enabling us to separate or distinguish the difference between the human soul and the supernatural at work.  This discernment gift includes understanding the mental disposition of someone.  It also enables us to see the distinct differences between the Holy Spirit and angels or demons at work in a situation.  Discernment, whether it is a keenness developed through experience or a gift of the Spirit of God, is an awesome weapon that is both a beneficial and essential resource for the days ahead.

Rejoice in Being God’s Sons

As the people of God assemble today, may they realize the power of being a son of God, rejoice in being God’s sons and walk in that authority over the powers and entities that seek to deceive them hoping that they will live mediocre, defeated lives. Jn.1:12—“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”

What God Has Released to Greatest Effect

May the Lord help each of His sons/daughters to get to the place where they can function at peak level and release what He has put in them to greatest effect. And may the display of it take the world by storm, wow the most lauded and talented, and leave those who wield power in awe at Who the Lord is and what the Lord has done through His own. “I will offer You my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe. You have approached even the smallest details with excellence; Your works are wonderful; I carry this knowledge deep within my soul.” (Ps.139:14, The Voice) “….They will see Yahweh’s glory, the excellence of our God.” (Isa.35:2b, WEB)

The Metal of Un-carnal Weapons

Kathy Gabler—God’s Word and His principles and His character and His will are the metal of un-carnal weapons.  For example, when we discover strongholds in our own lives that do not align with His Word or principles or character or plans, humility can become an un-carnal weapon.  The Word says that if we will humble ourselves He will give us grace. (1 Pet 5:5)  So, when we choose to humble ourselves before God, we position ourselves to receive grace.  That means we are enabled to change and the stronghold is brought down.
