Carrying What the Nation Needs

LoadCarryBurden.jpgMelissa — We carry what our nation and the world needs, and you can change things from where you are at this moment. God used a remnant of people time and time again to make big changes. He’s God, a tiny dose of His power can turn this nation right-side up! Our new motto for this unconventional year and beyond can be: As goes the remnant, so goes the nation. (Melissa will be speaking on the “Prophetic Lifestyle for Every Believer” at DREAMS VISIONS AND PROPHECY Sept.11-13, 2020__No Fee. Grace Church Willis Phone# 936-856-2455)

The Master is Unconventional

While dealing with the wind and waves of a violent storm, the disciples were not expecting anything unconventional from Jesus. Ps.50:21 “These things you have BoatCloudsShore.jpgdone, and I kept silence; you thought that I was just like you; I will reprove you, and state {the case} in order before your eyes.” (NAS) They may have been thinking that He was like them, being subject to the same limitations they were subject to. They were expecting conventional things from an unconventional Savior. If only they could have grasped the concept that He is THE MASTER OF THE STORM.  After Jesus had calmed the storm in Mk 4:41, they asked one another, “What manner of man is this?” (KJV). In other translations it reads “Who is this?” Not fully knowing who He was, and was therefore capable of, little did they know that He would be coming to join them walking on the water! If your logic is questioning, “What manner of man is this?”, the answer is, The Master Of The Storm. When the Master is called on and relied on, it is possible to get unconventional results in an unconventional year, for He has power over the power that threatens, even over the storm.

“Logical” Doesn’t Mean “Necessary”

Israel had, for four hundred years, been in a situation where they knew what to LookAround Hand Head.pngexpect each and every day. Their surroundings were so familiar that they had become acceptable. Their situation was identifiable. They could understand to the point that they could logically describe it. But “logical” doesn’t mean “necessary”. It was not all that easy to walk away from yesterday — especially something you had “learned to live with.” But you don’t have to learn to live with anything that is not part of God’s purpose.   Ps.138:7-8, TPT — “By your mighty power I can walk through any devastation and you will keep me alive, reviving me. Your power set me free from the hatred of my enemies. 8 You keep every promise you’ve ever made to me! Since your love for me is constant and endless, I ask you, Lord, to finish every good thing that you’ve begun in me!”

Don’t Like to Feel Out of Control

Kathy — My preference is that all my experiences stay within the “known” (normal HallLightDimensions.jpgdimensions of height, length, width and time) so that I don’t feel out of control! The problem is that my being in control and my preferences do not position me in childlike faith and it takes childlike faith to trust Father to speak to me whenever and however He chooses. Then it takes childlike faith to continue to believe that He did! 2Cor.5:7, Amp — “for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]”.

Don’t Leave the Giant in the Valley

If David would have gone home just to pray about Goliath it would have left the giant in the valley. The problem with giants is they don’t stay in valleys. Had David ValleyStreamClouds.jpegnot confronted and contradicted Goliath, he would have marched up the mountain and right into Jerusalem to capture Zion. The giants of this hour are after the defeat of “Zion”, i.e., determined to take out every practice and symbol of our Lord in this nation. Joel 2:17, Msg — “Between Sanctuary entrance and altar, let the priests, God’s servants, weep tears of repentance. Let them intercede: “Have mercy, God, on your people! Don’t abandon your heritage to contempt. Don’t let the pagans take over and rule them and sneer, ‘And so where is this God of theirs?’”

The Grace of His Love

As the people of God assemble today may they sing of and speak of and encourage one another of the goodness of Father God and the mercy and grace of His love. churchlightraysEph.1:3-6, Msg — “[The God of Glory] How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.”

Beyond Skills to Purpose

David was sent by his father to check on his brothers who had gone to war. When David came up over the top of the mountain and saw the scope of what was in the ManLookMountain.jpgvalley below, he could have easily concluded that this ordeal was none of his concern. It did not appear that David had any abilities or skills or protocol to deal with this escalated national problem. The lesson we take away from this bit of Israel’s history (as in numerous others) is that we should never forget to factor in God’s purpose and power. Zech.4:6, CEV — “So the angel explained that it was the following message of the Lord to Zerubbabel: I am the Lord All-Powerful. So don’t depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.”

Contradict the Threat Before it Takes Place

After a series of very uncomfortable events, Joseph ends up in Pharaoh’s court. National and international disaster of famine threatened on the horizon but he BarnSilo.jpgconfronted it and contradicted it with preparation. Not only was Pharaoh’s nation saved but Joseph’s as well. In this case, the threat was contradicted before it took place. Preparation and supply contradict lack. Heb.11:7, Msg — “By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.”

Wizards and Serpents Contradicted

The Kingdom of God in Moses confronted and contradicted the wizards of Pharaoh. AaronMosesRodSerpent.jpgThey were not only confronted but the serpents were devoured by Aaron’s rod. Ten gods of the Egyptians, which they believed to be invincible, were confronted and contradicted by Moses during the plagues. In this hour of history the wizards of this age must be confronted and contradicted with wisdom, authority and power from the throne of God. Josh.1:9, Amp — “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Walk Out What we Were Born to Do

Kathy — Doubt, fear, offense, deceit, unforgiveness and depression can crawl up on anybody’s porch. Mature sons master them and continue to walk out what they FatherSonBuildwere born to do. When His sons mature, His government is demonstrated on earth as in heaven and His supernatural touches the natural. Let’s be encouraged. Our Father is faithful and patient. He will keep working with us to grow us up into full stature! Eph.4:13, Amp — “until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity].”

Contradicting the Storm

The disciples confronted the storm on the lake but Jesus contradicted it with peace. wavesWhen Jesus said to His disciples that He had been given all authority in heaven and on earth and then commissioned them to disciple nations, that was the announcement that believers had now become the embodiment of the Kingdom like He was. We have the same authority and power to contradict darkness. Deut.28:7, Amp — “The Lord will cause the enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way, but flee before you seven ways.”

Hard to Forgive

Kathy — A person who has been abused will find it hard to forgive when emotion morningsunrisingdemands they keep a vigil over injustice. Thinking differently would mean trusting God’s Word that He is faithful to bring justice. It is a challenge to forgive by choice; it is a directive from the God we trust. God supplies enabling grace to follow His directive and forgive when it is not deserved. Though difficult, it is not impossible. Matt.6:14, Amp — “For if you forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Displace Dependencies

As the people of God assemble today may the Lord Jesus Christ walk into the gatherings of His people and displace dependencies among His people with the jump uppowerful overcoming presence of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit will hover over His people until the chaos of dependencies (personality, emotional, prescription drugs, illegal drugs, alcohol) is brought to order and liberty. Gen.1:2, Amp — “The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.”  Lk.24:49, Amp “And behold, I will send forth upon you what My Father has promised; but remain in the city [Jerusalem] until you are clothed with power from on high.”  2Cor.3:17, Amp — “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).”

Repentance, Release and Change

Kathy — Repentance ushers in release and change for everyone. One reason we holding headavoid it is shame locks us down. The fact that we need to think differently and change feels like an indictment against our self-image or even worse, against our Christianity. That’s the deception of shame in action. The truth is that repentance brings healthy changes and change is part of the process of maturing and overcoming.  2Co.7:10, TPT — “God designed us to feel remorse over sin in order to produce repentance that leads to victory. This leaves us with no regrets. But the sorrow of the world works death.”

Coming Prepared for a Fight

Giants won’t stay in the valley. They intend to go far beyond their threats and use their intimidation and bulk to conquer. Goliath had not come all the way from FightingHandsBattle.jpegPhilistia to intimidate a few Hebrews. He was of a mind to march right through the middle of Saul’s army, right through Jesse’s farm and straight into Jerusalem. He came prepared for a fight. Israel had only confronted the giant and didn’t seem to even have a plan for contradicting him. The best time to deal with giants is while they are still in the valley. There must be plans, commitment and action. 1Sam.14:6, Amp — “Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come on now, let’s go across to these uncircumcised pagans. Maybe God will work for us. There’s no rule that says God can only deliver by using a big army. No one can stop God from saving when he sets his mind to it.”

Offense Distorts

Kathy — Offense distorts the way we see everybody and every event in life. Cain OutFocusPeopleDistorted.jpgobviously did not see God as a loving, wise, just, heavenly Father and he would not accept correction. He was too angry and perhaps too ashamed, too disappointed or too self-absorbed to do the right thing. (One of the major signs of immature character is self-absorption.) We don’t see what is true or right if we cannot see past how we feel. Js.3:16, TPT — “So wherever jealousy and selfishness are uncovered, you will also find many troubles and every kind of meanness.”

Be Every Whit Whole

CongregationWorshipAs the people of God assemble today may they worship Yahweh in the liberty of the Spirit and may He inhabit their praises and may His powerful Presence fill each of them making them every whit [all; whole; complete] whole in spirit, soul and body. Jn.7:23b, KJV – “…I have made a man every whit whole…”

Giants and Causes

Those were dark, oppressive days. The raging giant held the entire Israelite army in tense, intimidating suspension. David searched the faces of the older generation GiantFootMan.pngattempting to determine why the offensive oaf was going unchallenged. Could it be that a nation would just sit by while an uncircumcised leader and contingent openly expressed their intentions to subdue and rule them? When David inquired as to why the armored titan was only passively being confronted and not at all contradicted, he was sharply rebuked and told to go back home. Problem: the giant didn’t intend to stay in the valley. Giants always want more. Question: Is there a cause? 1Sam.17:29, KJV — “And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?”

Correction and Offense

Kathy — Gen.4:5, “But for Cain and his offering God had no respect or regard.” ManWalkAwayDoor.pngListen to that wording. There was something amuck with Cain’s heart and character already for God to have no respect for him as well as his offering. His character flaws became obvious when His behavior and action was not accepted by God. Instead of humbling himself before God for a son’s correction, He took offense! Prov.3:11, TPT — “My child, when the Lord God speaks to you, never take his words lightly, and never be upset when he corrects you.“

Harnessed Together for Power Results

I watched a video of a county fair somewhere in Mid-America. In a weighted-sled HorsesPullTogethercontest the 1st place horse pulls 4,000 lbs. 2nd place pulls 3,000 lbs. But when harnessed in tandem they pulled 16,000 lbs! Individual effort resulted in a total of 7,000 lbs. But together they pulled 9,000 lbs more than they did separately. Synergy: the interaction of two or more agents so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects. Together, we can get the Great Commission done. Eph.4:16, TLB — “Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly, and each part in its own special way helps the other parts, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”

Overcome Damaging Forces

ManFootRope.jpgKathy — We are becoming mature sons. But if we don’t overcome damaging forces like self-doubt and fear of rejection, they snare us. If snared, we develop an “offense or attitude or outlook” on life that hinders our self-image, self-worth and self-discipline; and those hindrances will undermine every opportunity and relationship we have. 2Cor.6:18, TPT — “I will be a true Father to you, and you will be my beloved sons and daughters,” says the Lord Yahweh Almighty.”
