Relationships That Build You Up
Marty Gabler—This year may you find and keep the kind of relationships that build you up and don’t tear you down. “For I am not ashamed, even if I have boasted somewhat too much about the authority that the Lord has given us—authority to build you up, not to tear you down.” (2Cor.10:8, GNB)

Family and Relationships
Everywhere people gather, eventually discussion will get around to talking about family and the difficulties of relationships. I remember hearing about a man who attended a seminar and upon arriving told someone that he had come there to learn how to manage his family. One of the older leaders responded saying, “Don’t try to manage your family; learn to love and serve them, then leadership in the family will come as a by-product of the loving and serving.” It has been said that the biggest favor fathers can do their children is to love their mother.
(Eph.5:25, NKJV) “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.” We are praying you discover daily that you and your family are walking in our Lord’s sacrificial love.

Shaking Going on
KATHY — If the shaking going on in your life has been in relationships, expect a bursting forth of Kingdom relationships. That breaks down to healing and restoration in old relationships – as God directs. Or, that means new relationships that are supernaturally ordained, timed and blessed by God, for His purpose and agenda are coming. You have been through 39 months on the Potter’s wheel to change who you are, to position you to prosper in God-ordained relationships! If business relationships have been the target for despair or division, now it’s time to see the birth of stable, established partnerships. You can be confident that God has been working in the character of each partner to position them for now. If marriage has been the issue, trust God. He has been faithful in the last 39 months to transform you and your spouse. The cyclones have broken and removed some strongholds. At the same time the forceful trials have caused you to grow strong in needed areas. You are not the same person you were 39 months ago. Now you are in the position, the birthing position, ready to see God’s good plans come forth. (The seventh excerpt of Kathy’s vision will be posted 6-26-23.)

Make a Fresh Start
Occasionally in life, we tend to put ourselves in relationships and situations that effectively serve to block any progress which we have thought we should have made by this point in life. The impassible wall our decisions make seems to just reach up and block the wind that would fill our sails and move us to a much more desirable haven. Now, today, is the time to call on God and move with God. (Ps.51:10) “God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life… 12 Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails!” We are praying you discover daily that your sails are full of the wind of the Spirit of God and you are by-passing old stopping points. Month of May is for Counsel
The month of May is for counsel – for giving counsel and receiving counsel. Expect the Lord to set up situations for you to (1) receive counsel for living – for knowing what to do when no one else does, (2) counsel for relationships, (3) counsel for finances, (4) counsel for walking out your Kingdom purpose, (5) counsel for working through seemingly impossible circumstances. Expect the Lord to set up situations where you will be able to pass on to others what you have freely been given. ”The wise will hear and increase their learning, And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth],” (Prov.1:5, Amp)

The Fallout of Emotions and Moods
Time and ravaged relationships will eventually prove that giving in to negative emotions or moods causes suffering similar to the fallout of chemical warfare. Moods are like a poisonous fog that suffocates everyone within reach! It is dangerous to tolerate “moods” because the “fog” of “my anger” or “my fear” is blinding, and we lose sight of what our negative emotions are doing to others and our own physical bodies. We can even wander deeper into the fog and reach a pit of indifference. In that “pit,” isolation and cynicism become an anesthesia that numbs upsetting emotions while it blocks out rational thinking. The ripple effects can be lethal . . . loneliness, hopelessness and failure to fulfill purpose. (The fifth excerpt from Kathy’s article “Investing in Relationships” published in SEEC Magazine.)

Moods and Manipulation
A friend, I will call “Amy,” shared her experience with me regarding her childhood friend, “Sharon”. Through the years, neither Amy nor Sharon had considered the other perfect, and imperfections were never a threat to their friendship. So, after many years, Amy was shocked to find herself in a dilemma over something that had always been there. She finally realized that Sharon’s cycles of emotional dives into anguish, depression and anger, which had always been written off to moodiness, was not just her “personality.” It became obvious that Sharon needed deliverance and healing. Yet Amy knew that if confronted, Sharon would be quick to explain and justify her behavior because she was a perfectionist-analyzer-thinker, or she might even more likely just get angry and consider Amy as petty and accusing. Amy had no confidence
to approach her from Gal 6:1. Neither did she think Sharon would accept the scriptural “wound of a friend” as a good thing that could lead to healing, so instead she pursued God’s direction for effectual prayer for her friend.
In the past, when Sharon was in “one of her moods,” Amy either stayed away or tip-toed around until it was over or tried to coax her out of it. Sharon’s family used the same methods of dealing with her mood swings. Amy had watched people in their church and social settings walk a big circle around her, never getting to know the real Sharon who was genuinely a source of wisdom and love. It grieved her to see Sharon and her family ruled by this despot of “MOODS”.
Surprisingly, as Amy continued to pray and search for insights, she came to some revealing truths about her own soul. Amy realized that she had never acknowledged these patterns in her friend because moods were familiar, even expected in her own world. She had grown up in a home where irritable or despondent moods were a silent demand for someone to fix conditions or feelings, etc., and moods worked because someone in her family would “do something.” The most frustrated or depressed family member or the one in the biggest soul-storm became the center of attention and dictated the agenda for the whole family any given day.
Beyond that, Amy made another discovery. As she considered the “destructives” in her own life that needed confession-unto-healing-release, not only did the Holy Spirit point out her emotional behavior patterns, but He further opened her understanding in how she had allowed and even fostered those same patterns in her young son. What we cannot see in ourselves we often cannot see in our children either. (That’s one reason destructive behavior patterns can continue for generations, and releasing generations to come is also a powerful motive to seek healing for our own souls.) It became clear that frustrated moods and manipulation through pouting were a pattern she dare not leave unchanged in her son’s life lest it rob him of childhood joy as well as joy in the years to come. What started as concern for a friend led her to a realization and confession that began a healing for three generations in her own family. As Amy sought answers for Sharon, deliverance came to her own house. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. (Ps 107:19-20). A paraphrase of that scripture is: He directed His command to heal their hurts and distresses and delivered them from their pitfalls and sources of depression.

Finding What You Lost
May the Lord help you to find that lost purse, lost wallet, lost credit card, lost money, lost jewelry, lost papers. May many rejoice with you. May you
find lost goals and lost purpose in life. May our merciful Lord help you find those lost moments of peace and security, even lost moments of delight and happiness. Jesus said, (Lk.15:8-9, Msg) “Imagine a woman who has ten coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and scour the house, looking in every nook and cranny until she finds it? And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll call her friends and neighbors: ‘Celebrate with me! I found my lost coin!’” We are praying you discover daily that you are finding valuable relationships, opportunities and things you have lost.

Wisdom in Etiquette
Not all of us got everything our parents, family and tutors tried to get across to us as we have progressed through life. Occasionally (if not more often)
we say something or do something that isn’t in keeping with those things that are most proper in relating to others. For some of us, there are probably people who think we grew up on the back side of the wilderness without any effort from a parent to impart wisdom and etiquette. But God is wise and He is also good and merciful to the point that He will give us the wisdom in etiquette we have not absorbed thus far.
“But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile].” (Js.3:17, Amp)

Purpose Not Cluttered
May the Lord keep us with His Word and His Wisdom that we
not become convoluted with side-tracking issues and that we
not clutter up our purpose and focus with relationships that
God has not ordained.
“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make
mismated alliances with them or come under a different
yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what
partnership have right living and right standing with God
with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have
fellowship with darkness?” (2Cor.6:14, Amp)
