What is an Intercessor?
KATHY GABLER—I knew an older gentleman who was called to be an intercessor and that calling was confirmed through a prophetic word. He had not recognized the calling, nor could he receive the word, because of his definition of an intercessor. His belief was that an intercessor was a person who prayed for many hours every day. His experience indicated that was neither his lifestyle nor his desire; so, he could not believe he could ever be an intercessor. After a conversation with a discerning friend, he discovered intercession is not bound to one particular lifestyle and he opened his heart to the call of God. His misunderstanding had been keeping him from fulfillment and effectual purpose for years. Discernment is about seeing a difference that will make a difference. Discernment turns the light on so we can take action and make adjustments.

Faith Positions us to Receive
KATHY—I heard an inspiring example on a recording by Alan Vincent some time ago. He was scheduled to be in a meeting with some church leaders in northern India. When he got to the airport, he was told he did not have the proper papers and could not go to that region. He sat down to get in agreement with God’s perspective of the chaos. He realized all systems of the world belong to God and as God’s servant this airline would have to serve him and take him so he could obey the Boss. As he sat praying in that vein, the flight did not leave on time. It was delayed waiting for an important political figure. When the political entourage came rushing up to the desk, for no reason anyone could explain, the chief of the group turned to Alan and asked, “Sir, is there anything I can do for you?” Alan not only made the flight, he walked off the plane on the red carpet laid out for the political dignitaries! That kind of experience rearranges our thinking about circumstances. That kind of cyclonic chaos displaces frustration with faith! And faith positions us to receive.

Dreams for Insight
KATHY–God uses dreams and visions to give insight into situations: My aunt dreamed she saw a car on a highway. The fog was so dense around it that she could barely see its headlights. She woke up abruptly, startled and concerned. Suddenly she remembered Marty and I were out of town in a meeting; so she began to pray. Later that night we made it home but crept along the last few miles, the alternator going out and our lights going dimmer by the mile. God woke her to usher in deliverance even before the alternator began to fail. Like a Word of Knowledge says God is intervening, giving supernatural insight because He is ready to act, likewise a dream or vision mandate, says He is ready to act; so mustering faith and praying is no problem!

PRAYING is OBEYING
Kathy — PRAYING is OBEYING, and prayer will clearly bear fruit in 2020 as His Kingdom comes and His will is done in earth. On January 4th , six days after Marty made the declarations, I was reading Psalm 81. Verse 13, “How I wish my people would listen to me; how I wish they would obey me,” seemed to echo in my mind as I leaned my head back on my chair. As I slipped into sleep, I began dreaming, but then I heard someone speaking. I opened my eyes, wondering if I was awake or asleep as I tried to listen to what was being said. It is sometimes a challenge to
transfer words and concepts to paper, but this is the gist of what I heard: “I am bringing changes to the Church’s mode of operation”. My first thought was that I must pray that those who faithfully sit on the church bench be able to handle God-changes rather than hold to traditions or walk away in judgment. I took hope in what I heard next: “The prospering that comes from these changes will cause the differences to be embraced and welcomed by many. Even the economics of the Church will prosper like harvests hidden in history.” I had no knowledge of “harvests hidden in history.” I was a bit stunned at hearing such details. I thought, ‘Lord, hearing these things seems strangely beyond my usual reach and responsibility. This is the kind of stuff that Marty hears, so why am I hearing these things?’ Immediately, I heard, “So you can invest prayer toward these changes in My Church.” I have to admit that I felt too inexperienced for such an assignment, and that momentary feeling of being unequipped made me doubt my hearing. But I could not shrug this off to dreaming. I wonder how many of us have disqualified ourselves and forsaken an assignment through a reaction like mine. The soul (the mind and logic and will) is often quick to take the wheel and drive us into a ditch of doubt instead of down the path of obedience. It’s not that our soul cannot be part of obedience, in fact, it must. However, the soul simply cannot be the driver-dictator-controller. Being led of the Spirit is the means and method of walking out an obedience and getting to God-outcomes (in prayer or any other obedience).

Gates In Our Fences (by Kathy Gabler)
Gates In Our Fences (by Kathy Gabler)
While praying, I heard the Spirit of the Lord say He is going to put gates in our fences. There is new ground He wants us to take that is beyond our fences, beyond our norms, beyond our paradigms, beyond our limitations and beyond our traditions. He’s going to open new things to us and open us to new things. I know the Bible says there is nothing new under the sun, but sometimes we forget our God is not under the sun. Besides that, just getting past misbeliefs can be a whole new world for us. Going through a new gate is getting to change, getting to new horizons and getting to fulfillment, and its journey starts with a new thought that touches the future.
