KATHY GABLER—Hag 1:5-9, “The LORD Almighty says “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” This is what The LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the LORD. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the LORD Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house.” (NIV) The instructions were clear: “Give careful thought to your priorities. Don’t decide your day according to your problems or your feelings or your circumstances. Order your life according to my wisdom and honor.” He was telling them to think differently so they could change their world.

Melissa Gabler — I believe the awakening Holy Spirit is bringing us to is an awakening to the fear of the Lord. We are indeed headed into not only understanding but living in the fear of the Lord. I grew up hearing that the fear of the Lord is awe, reverence and respect for God, and it is, but there is still more. Here’s how the Holy Spirit presented it to me a month ago, “Either you are bowing your knee in awe and reverence to Me or you are bowing your knee in tolerance and submission to everything else.”

Since everything flows out of Jesus (Col.1:17), rank and order is not hierarchy, it is 
each person being where they are supposed to be and functioning as they are supposed to function. That is how the world will see His glory; when we are where we are supposed to be, doing what we are supposed to do, releasing Heaven into earth. (1Cor.6:20; 1Pe.2:12) Matt.5:16, Amp — “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

Kathy — Obedience should be the truest expression of submission, respect and honor in a mature son. Satan offered Jesus a quick way to the kingdoms of this world. Jesus was a mature son and so intent upon obedience that He couldn’t be tempted by success on an easier path. Satan could not get Jesus to focus on what He could do instead of who He was. That is mature character. Jn.10:18

May they not try to follow through with only a “reasonable facsimile thereof” but provide the full measure of the original intention and may God bless it and multiply it beyond initial expectations. What have our children heard? Have they heard blessing like the voice of blessing of Abraham to Isaac and the voice of Isaac to Jacob? Have they heard words of honor around the house and words of life, words of productivity? Are we just repeating in our home what we experienced when we were growing up or are we determined that our children will see the faithfulness of God in their generation? “As for me,” God says, “this is my covenant with them: My Spirit that I’ve placed upon you and the words that I’ve given you to speak, they’re not going to leave your mouths nor the mouths of your children nor the mouths of your grandchildren. You will keep repeating these words and won’t ever stop.” (Isa.59:21, Msg)

We have heard quite a lot from within Christian ranks that we should give special leeway for those of other religious viewpoints, yet 
ink is not wasted WHEN THE BIBLE SPEAKS of the necessity in honoring the Son of God–JESUS.
“that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” (Jn.5:23, NKJV)
“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (1Tim.2:5)
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”(Jn.14:6)
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”(Heb.7:25)

May desire for our Lord’s character and the empowering of the Holy Spirit help us to turn our backs on a godless, indulgent life and help us to take on a God-filled, God-honoring life. May we shine forth with words and actions that can only be described as honoring the Word and will of Almighty God, so that the present culture and system of this age can never swallow us up and lay claim to our lives. May the cloak of His likeness display who we are, and whose we are, without the need for superficial display of physical marks, titles or pretension.

May the Lord bring to their remembrance the good promises others have made to us, no matter how long ago. May they consider the commitments they made and set about honoring those promises. May they not try to follow through with only a “reasonable facsimile thereof” but provide the full measure of the original intention and may God bless it and multiply it beyond initial expectations. Gen. 41:9–”Then the chief butler spoke to Pharaoh, saying: “I remember. . .” v.12–”Now there was a young Hebrew man with us there. . .” v.14–”Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph. . .”
What have our children heard? Have they heard blessing like the voice of blessing of Abraham to Isaac and the voice of Isaac to Jacob? Have they heard words of honor around the house and words of life, words of productivity? Are we just repeating in our home what we experienced when we were growing up or are we determined that our children will see the faithfulness of God in their generation? “As for me,” God says, “this is my covenant with them: My Spirit that I’ve placed upon you and the words that I’ve given you to speak, they’re not going to leave your mouths nor the mouths of your children nor the mouths of your grandchildren. You will keep repeating these words and won’t ever stop.” (Isa.59:21, Msg)
May you lift your head, get a deep breath, may your eyes clear and focus and may you walk in the way that is right and enjoy the favor of the Lord. “For the Lord God is a sun and a safe-covering. The Lord gives favor and honor. He holds back nothing good from those who walk in the way that is right.” (Ps.84:11, NLV)
As the people of God assemble today, may they sing out of honor, praise and worship to their God who is above all and above every name. May they proclaim to one another and into the atmosphere His greatness that is worthy of undivided worship, praising Him for Who He is, God Most High! “Sing God a brand-new song! Earth and everyone in it, sing! Sing to God—worship God!” (Ps.96:1-2, Msg)
ink is not wasted WHEN THE BIBLE SPEAKS of the necessity in honoring the Son of God–JESUS.
May desire for our Lord’s character and the empowering of the Holy Spirit help us to turn our backs on a godless, indulgent life and help us to take on a God-filled, God-honoring life. May we shine forth with words and actions that can only be described as honoring the Word and will of Almighty God, so that the present culture and system of this age can never swallow us up and lay claim to our lives. May the cloak of His likeness display who we are, and whose we are, without the need for superficial display of physical marks, titles or pretension.
