We know a lady who got to see Father do the unconventional to redeem a life. She was trying to get a certain vacation booked for her family for spring break. She tried with three different agencies and couldn’t get it done. Finally, she got ahold of a young man with an agency in another part of the nation and began to tell him what she wanted. But suddenly she had an urge to tell the young man that she is a pastor’s daughter. He responded, “Well, I am a pastor’s son. But I haven’t been to church in years.” Then she got a word of knowledge for him. She said, “There are three things that have happened in the last three days that have been very difficult for you and the Lord wants you to know that He is working in all of them to bring about victory for you.” The young man began to weep. Our friend patiently waited for a bit and then he said, “You are not hearing nearly what I would cut loose with if I wasn’t in this office with all these people. Just this morning on the way in to work, I was sitting in traffic and just yelled out, ‘God, if You are there and You are real, You are going to have to do something to let me know!’”. He said that in the last three days his wife had told him she was leaving him, he found out that he is about to go bankrupt and he had decided to take his life. Our friend told us that she finds it interesting that Father is consistently using her more along those lines outside of the four walls of the church than He does inside them, when He used to use her more inside the four walls. Father is going to use each of us in unconventional ways in 2020. All we have to do is what Jesus instructed us to do: “AS YOU GO preach the Kingdom…” (Matt.10:7). AS WE GO we can speak and demonstrate the Kingdom of God (His rule and authority and character) to those He puts in our path as we go.
God is giving His people loving and creative insights into impacting people’s lives. People in this present culture are not wondering whether or not they will go to heaven or hell if they die, they are concerned whether they have a purpose and what they will do if they continue to have to deal with present moral and cultural challenges. God will speak to us about what He is concerned about in a person’s life while steering us away from pet peeves (religious pet peeves and pet peeves formed from our family paradigms) so that we can effectively impact them with His love and compassion. “Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they’ll be won over to God’s side and be there to join in the celebration when he arrives.” (1Pe 2:12,Msg)
Emmanuel means “God is with us”. He is the God-Man who was born of a virgin that God might dwell among men. Jesus, Emmanuel, lived redemptively among men. He didn’t come to bring merely a message or a creed but He lived out redemptive acts through His life on earth. His disciples, those whom He has redeemed by His redemptive act of His shed blood on the cross must, in turn, live redemptively among men. There are too many and too much to redeem to simply live to go to heaven. (Matt.1:23, NKJV) “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” We are praying you discover daily that you are living redemptively to the glory of Emmanuel.
