MARTY GABLER—As the people of God assemble today may they look to Him Who has plans and a future for each of them. May they clearly see and understand that just because they may have a history of defeat and never-ending need, that the future Jehovah God is working on is one of hope and security in Him. Marty Gabler—What of the New Year? — Thoughts, Plans & Inventions —— The Psalmist declares he is aware that He is included in God’s thoughts. One of the meanings of “thoughts” (Jer.29:11) is “an invention.” God has a plan for you in 2025 and, if necessary, He will INVENT required elements to work together to get you to that goal that glorifies Him and serves His purposes. He is beneficent and He is creative.
“thoughts”: a device, a plan, a purpose, AN INVENTION (Thayer) “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” (Jer.29:11, Amp)

Kathy — As surely as Ishmael was a potential within the loins of Abraham, most of our “Ishmaels” are rooted 
within our own soul. An “Ishmael’s” strongest lure is usually that it is a logical or practical answer to a dilemma. An Ishmael represents a deceptive compromise or settlement or detour in our destiny. It is an effort to get to promise our way instead of God’s or in our time instead of His. Eccl.3:11, Amp — “He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end.”

2020 is the time period the Lord has made (Ps.118:24). We will rejoice because the 
Lord has made it in keeping with His purposes and plans. It is a time period that we may not thoroughly understand nor have a complete grasp of. Yet, the times are in His hand (Ps.31:15). Throughout 2020 we will continue to rejoice because the all-wise God is not behind the times nor even trying to catch up. He has already stepped out into tomorrow and bids us come and partake in His worthy enterprise and we will engage His design with energy and expectation of the extraordinary. May the Lord grant you every enabling blessing for His Kingdom purposes in 2020. “So shall you know skillful and godly Wisdom to be thus to your life; if you find it, then shall there be a future and a reward, and your hope and expectation shall not be cut off.” (Prov.24:14, Amp)

(Kathy Gabler)—Our Battles this last year may have been physical or financial or attacks from people or harassment in circumstances or a siege of constant pressure. Whatever the conflict, I think battle-weariness sets in at the 
point there seems to be no let up, no end. Changelessness is exhausting. It can make us too tired to muster hope, but like David, that’s the time to talk to God openly. In Psalm 55, David told the Lord that he just wanted some peace and quiet, a walk in the country and a cabin in the woods. He told Him his heart was desperate for change(MSG). When we come to God in exhausted desperateness, He does not meet us there as a stonewall of resistance. That place of meeting with Him is a threshold, a starting place, a second wind. Just breathe.

By looking around us today, by looking at the recent past and even the distant past, how is it that we can decide what tomorrow is going to be? There are things in the plans of God that have not yet been formed that will be our answer. Elijah’s servant went down to the sea seven days in a row before he saw what had not been formed the day before or the previous five before that (1K.18:44).
“You have heard [these things foretold], now you see this fulfillment. And will you not bear witness to it? I show you specified new things from this time forth, even hidden things [kept in reserve] which you have not known.
7 They are created now [called into being by the prophetic word], and not long ago; and before today you have never heard of them, lest you should say, Behold, I knew them! (Isa.48:6-7, Amp)
