Devices and Schemes of the Crafty

This verse pretty much describes our nation at this time. BUT that description will not be the final outcome. Isa.59:14, NASB — “Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands far away; For truth has stumbled in the street, And uprightness cannot enter.” That has a ring of hopeless finality to it but the Word of God continues with the delivering acts of God because our Holy Father is not finished with this nation. Let us now read what God Almighty is in the process of doing. Job 5:12, Amp — “He frustrates the devices and schemes of the crafty, So that their hands cannot attain success or achieve anything of [lasting] worth.” Our Lord will not simply step in and do some frustrating, He will also bring judgment and meet out the consequences of their attempts to destroy this nation. Isa.29:15, Amp — “Woe (judgment is coming) to those who [try to] deeply hide their plans from the Lord, Whose deeds are done in a dark place, And who say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?” Yahweh sees and knows. 2Pe.2:9, Msg — “So God knows how to rescue the godly from evil trials. And he knows how to hold the feet of the wicked to the fire until Judgment Day.”

God was Just Wondering

Of all the things God could possibly wonder about, the Bible tells us He was wondering where His interceding people were. Isa. 59:16—“And He saw that there was no man and wondered…” (“wondered” 8074  shamem- to be desolate, to be appalled, to stun, to stupefy; to be deflowered, to be deserted, to be appalled, causing horror [Brown-Driver-Briggs]). Could it actually be that this God who loved Israel so much felt “deserted” or that the Arbiter of the universe was actually “stunned” or maybe even “stupefied” that people who knew His precepts and had heard His voice so clearly through His prophets could possibly leave His beloved Israel uncovered from lack of prayer? While we have a great host of people who want to speak for God and prophesy (some eagerly volunteering to prophesy judgment and doom), where are those falling on their face and interceding? 1Tim 2:1 “I exhort therefore, that, FIRST OF ALL, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;” (KJV).

Not Dependent on our Reach Alone

Have you ever been in a swimming pool and reached for a leaf only to have it move away from you because of the movement of the water under your hand, still out of reach towardreach? It seemed to be just beyond the reach of your fingers and only a small amount of effort would bring it into your grasp, yet it evaded you. I have also seen a parent holding a child and extending them forward so they might reach something otherwise unreachable. We are not dependent upon our reach alone. In Christ, in His purposes and plans, which include sons/daughters of the Most High, we are enabled to reach and shall reach what has been unreachable before now. Just as the parent held the child out so its little hand was able to grasp, our Lord wants us to grasp that which is within His Kingdom purposes.  “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear.” (Isa.59:1)
