Imperative to be Properly Connected
The fruit of our lives is a witness of the connections we have made. In Jn.15:4, Jesus makes it plain that the only way a branch can produce fruit is to live in the vine, i.e., be properly connected. ”Abide in Me, and I will abide in you. A branch cannot bear fruit if it is disconnected from the vine, and neither will you if you are not connected to Me.” (Jn.15:4, The Voice)

Connected to a Higher Source
Jesus wanted His disciples connected to a higher source than the religion they had been stooped in. Jesus wanted followers whose lives
showed His loving, redemptive character as a result of their relationship with Him. The legalism they had practiced could identify adherents but couldn’t produce fruit that witnessed to who the Father really is. The only thing their legalism communicated was that they were connected to a religion and its rules. Jn 15:8 “This is how my Father shows who He is–when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples.” (MSG) The fruitless things in their lives were pruned back by the word of Jesus so they might produce good fruit, good character (15:2). We are praying you discover daily that the character of Jesus is demonstrated in your life. (Marty’s Daily Discovery as heard on TEXAS PRAISE RADIO at the bottom of the hour 24hrs/day.)

Accomplished Through Connection
Jesus blessed many lives. He did miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit that redemptively impacted people. Jesus got done what He got done
because of His connection with the Father. Jn 5:19 Jesus said to the Jews, “I can guarantee this truth: The Son cannot do anything on his own. He can do only what he sees the Father doing. Indeed, the Son does exactly what the Father does.” (GW) The fruit of our lives is a witness of the connections we have made. In Jn.15:4 Jesus makes it plain that the only way a branch can produce fruit is to live in the vine, i.e., be properly connected. We are praying you discover daily that you are connected to Father God through Jesus for His redemptive purposes in the earth. Connected to the Vine
The cell phone ad showed two young adults speaking who have just met. The young man says, “I felt there was a connection between us. Do you feel
the same way?” But, the signal drops. She begins her positive response to him, but is not heard. The silence on the other end of the line confirms his worst fears of rejection. The message is that the future could be lost if one does not have the proper connection. It is of the utmost importance to be properly connected to the right party. (Jn.15:5, Msg) [Jesus said,] “…When you’re joined with Me and I with you, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.” We are praying you discover daily that you are staying connected to Jesus, the Vine.

Connected to a Higher Source
Jesus wanted to get His disciples connected to a higher source than the religion they had been steeped in. The legalism they had practiced could identify adherents but couldn’t produce fruit that witnessed to Who the Father really is. The legalism was a witness to their personal determination but not to the character of the Father. The only thing their legalism communicated was that they were connected to a religion and its rules. Jn 15:8 “This is how my Father shows who he is–when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples.” (MSG) They had to be pruned back by the Word of Jesus just so that they would be ready to bear good fruit (15:2).

Don’t Die on the Vine

If we don’t seek the kingdom and His righteousness, we can die on the vine. Dying on the vine means that fruit goes unpicked, food goes uneaten, harvest goes unrealized and destiny goes unfulfilled. We can be connected to the vine and be on our way to heaven, yet not reach fulfillment of purpose during our lifetime. We can love God, yet go through life missing His direction and timing simply because we are not seeking the kingdom, not pursuing a relationship with Him.
