Don’t Flop Down on the Ground

Rest is not giving up and flopping down on the ground. It’s not sitting down and doing nothing. Inactivity is resignation to opposition. After recent events in this nation, we must not stop assembling ourselves, must not stop giving, must not stop shining. It is time to pray more, assemble ourselves more, give more and shine more in the light of our Lord’s love. It just might become contagious. (Isa.60:1) “Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!” We are praying you discover daily that the glory of the Lord is shining on you and through you.

Find the Quiet

In the last two months, I have been in several conversations with upset and anxious people. Hearing their circumstances makes me understand their distress, but mid-conversation I hear again the instructions I heard that morning to “stay still” and “stay thankful”. I want to say to them, “I know it is a challenge when you are anxious and “what-ifs” are erupting in your thoughts and shooting holes in every hope that raises its head, but find the quiet stillness of confidence in God.  Then be thankful that opens the door to Him and He is already on the doorstep.”

Rest in Safety

As the people of God assemble may they encourage one another to hope in the Word of God and the God of His Word. May they be reminded of the unfailing Word of God and find rest in safety and fear none. “And you shall be secure and feel confident because there is hope; yes, you shall search about you, and you shall take your rest in safety.” (Job 11:18, Amp)

Find Rest

As the people of God assemble today may they find rest unto their souls. May they exchange tears and weariness for strength and joy. May they discover that true rest is responsibly acting in the authority they have been given by their Lord and Savior and not try to live a lifestyle driven by mere desire and obligation to people and causes not ordained by their Lord. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.” (Matt.11:28)

Is Rest a Foreign Word?

Have there been times when “prayer” was pretty much just kicking and screaming until you were worn out, then lying in a puddle of tears hoping God, in bountiful pity, Fogwalkforestput all the puzzle pieces in place just as you prefer them? Was “rest” just a foreign word? The word “rest” is a delightful word. Our rest is (2Tim.1:12) “I know (have knowledge of, and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and keep that which has been entrusted to me and which I have committed [to Him] until that day.” In God we trust. We are praying you discover daily our Lord’s invitation, “Come to me and I will give you rest”.

Shine More

Moving From Burdened To Rest

Moving From Burdened To Rest

Rest is not giving up and flopping down on the ground. And after kicking and screaming until we are worn out, then lying in a puddle of tears while God, in bountiful pity, puts all the puzzle pieces in place just as we prefer them. “Rest” is not sitting down and doing nothing. After recent events in this nation, it is not time to pray less or stop praying. We must not stop assembling ourselves, must not stop giving, must not stop shining. It is time to pray more, assemble ourselves more, give more and shine more. “Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!” (Isa.60:1)

“Rest” is responsibly acting in the authority we have been given; our rest is that “I know (perceive, have knowledge of, and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and keep that which has been entrusted to me and which I have committed [to Him] until that day. (2Tim.1:12) Rest is not inactivity but activity couched in a holy confidence in spite of circumstances.
