August is for Looking Where our Help Comes From

MARTY GABLER—The month of August is for looking unto the hills where our help comes from. It comes from the Lord (Psalm 121:1-2). In August, let us do as instructed in verse one as we lift up our eyes to where our Help is. We must lift up our eyes to see beyond the immediate representations and visages of what appear to be immovable, indefatigable threats against purpose and life. Verse 3 unembarrassedly announces to us that “He will not suffer thy foot to be moved” while verse 5 boldly reminds us in the most certain of terms that “The Lord is thy keeper”. All through August we must lift up our eyes and run to the Rock (Ps.61:2) because the Psalmist proclaims with all assurance that “The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil; He shall preserve thy soul”.

Hopes And Dreams For A New Season

There are people who have hopes and dreams that a new season is just ahead and that it will hold something fresh and fulfilling. There is a God-something in us that urges us to reach beyond what we have experienced and strive for more than we have known. We so desire to eagerly respond to the “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” invitation of Jer.33:3. We want to see and experience the “never seen” and “never known” which is beyond our own capacity so that we may know resolve and victories and fulfillment that have, heretofore, been beyond our reach. So, we must lift up our heads from where we are and look to where there is transforming power and radical answers that change individuals and grip them with an insatiable vision for the Kingdom of Heaven in the earth. Ps.121:1-2,NASB—“I will raise my eyes to the mountains; From where will my help come?  2  My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Where my Help Comes From

As the people of God assemble today may they lift up their eyes from their immediate discouragements and fears and look to the mighty El Elyon Who created heaven and earth. May they find comfort in being covered by His hand and may they be filled with the assurance that He has never failed in His promises and He is acting in their behalf.  Ps.121:1-2,Msg—“I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.

Sun Not Strike You

As the people of God assemble today may they receive encouragement from the Word and from one another that the Lord is on their side, that He surrounds them and goes before them and that “The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun will not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your life.” (Ps.121:5-7)

Chewing off the Side of the Boat

Esau reached a point where he decided that he had resisted the now-demands of his belly long enough and also decided that his birthright just wasn’t worth living for something in the future (Heb.12:17). We may stay the course with hunger in our belly but we best stay the course. Moby Dick may be doing his best to chew the side off the boat but we must row, bail water & proclaim the promises of God above the racket of mighty molars crunching boat parts. To cease to stay the course is tantamount to selling one’s birthright. In ceasing, we trade the garments of a possessor for the rags of a beggar. Ps.121:1-3, TPT — “I look up to the mountains and hills, longing for God’s help. 2  But then I realize that our true help and protection come only from the Lord, our Creator who made the heavens and the earth. 3  He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall. God is my keeper; he will never forget nor ignore me.”

Wage Warfare With Prophecies

As the people of God assemble today may they encourage one another to look unto HillsMorning.jpegthe hills from whence cometh their help, that help that comes from God (Ps.121:1-2). May they declare that they will not stop praying and believing and declaring the truths of God Almighty and call one another into alignment with the words of the Lord they have received before the chaos and the tumult and the storms. 1Tim.1:18-19, TPT — “…in keeping with the very first prophecies that were spoken over your life, and are now in the process of fulfillment in this great work of ministry, in keeping with the prophecies spoken over you. With this encouragement use your prophecies as weapons as you wage spiritual warfare by faith and with a clean conscience…”

See the Bigger Picture

Prayer & Declare — All-Powerful Lord, I pray that we might be able to see what is beyond our limited sight and understand that which is beyond our confined MountainManLookcomprehension that we may see the bigger picture which You have in mind and function more effectively, not being held back by our small paradigms. May we no longer prefer our petty paradigms but deny them their limiting hold on us while looking to see your expansive possibilities.  I declare that we will lift up our eyes from the din of what we hear and see and will look to You and Your Word and Your Power that are able to perform that which You have promised and that which You intend according to Your great wisdom.   “And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward;” (Gen.13:14, NKJV)   “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?  2  My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” (Ps.121:1-2, NKJV)
