Goliath vs. God’s Purpose

Marty—When a Goliath-sized obstacle rears its head and begins to proclaim to us all the many pieces it is going to rip us into, rather than trying to remember if our insurance premiums are paid, we should try to remember God’s Word over our life. Rather than predicting the picture of desolation this “monster” will leave us the subject of, we best begin to proclaim the purposes and prophecies of God for us and our seed. Heb.10:23,Amp—“Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His Word];”

HOLD

MELISSA—Recently on a Sunday morning I was getting ready for church and asked the Lord what I needed to pray over the service that day and I clearly heard, “Prepare us for the onslaught.” I instantly had a sense that there are challenges coming to those of us that have been in the church for a while, challenges that will try to knock us off of our foundation in Christ. I literally heard the question being asked, “Is what I have believed my whole life even true?” I shared this with those in my Pastor’s office before service. During worship Pastor asked me to share this and then he followed up with having the congregation take hands all across the room. He proceeded to say, “Hold. Hold. Hold,” and then he said,  “This is the stance we have to take in the days ahead.” This could not have been more accurate instruction. Within the following weeks lives began to erupt like a volcano. There was a moment in the midst of it all I was reminded of what I’d heard and realized I’d thought it was going to come from outside, but it started from the inside first. My Pastor’s words started ringing in my head, “HOLD.” This instruction brought peace and stability.

Putting The Pieces Together For Now

Melissa—Father God has been putting the pieces together all along, and you have a role in which to stand. Don’t give up now.  Don’t believe that you’ve missed it. Let me say this again, the long lasting, deep, most satisfying things take longer because we have to have the understanding and character to not only attain them but to sustain them. How do you know that you have not been trained all along for the role you are about to receive? Is He not that sovereign? Is He not the Redeemer of time?

Keeping Our Grip

As the people of God assemble today may they deeply experience the knowledge that Yahweh has a plan and that He may be fully trusted to keep His people on track with His intent regardless of the circumstances and fear-inducing turmoil so readily available on the web and on TV. May they determine and encourage one another that they won’t stop doing anything Jehovah has ordained them to do with any less faith, dedication, enthusiasm or determination than they committed themselves to in the past. Heb 3:14,Msg—“If we can only keep our grip on the sure thing we started out with, we’re in this with Christ for the long haul.”

Hold on to the Rail

There is a shifting going on and opportunities for many but we must hold on to the rail and continue to make progress. Recently (as I was praying over some persons we are ministering to) I saw a person walking down a passageway of a large ship. The ship appeared to be rolling as a result of rough seas. The person was trying, as best as they could, to maintain their balance. Then, they noticed the handrail on the wall. It was like, “Oh, yes, I could hold on to that!”. So they gripped the rail and took another step and shifted their grip forward and took another step. Even though the seas may roll and make progress tedious, God’s Word and His faithfulness are the rail we can grip and continue to move forward with. “You are to follow only God, your God, hold him in deep reverence, keep his commandments, listen obediently to what he says, serve him—hold on to him for dear life!” (Deut.13:4, Msg)

Contend For The Word The Lord Has Given You

army campContend for the word the Lord has given you.
1. CONTEND: “to excite oneself against a foe; to wage war.”
“…I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. BEGIN TO POSSESS IT, and engage him in battle.” (Deut.2:24, NKJV)

2. WAGE WARFARE: “expedition; campaign”
“This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,” (1Tim.1:18, NKJV)
Hint: The words “expedition” and “campaign” should be sufficient terminology to help us understand that contending for our word isn’t going to be just a day excursion. You’re going to have to take more than just your lunch.

3. HEED: “to attach oneself to; be be given to or addicted to; to devote thought and effort to”
“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;” (2Pe.1:19, NKJV)

CONTEND + WAGE WARFARE + HEED = keeping plenty busy!
