Ground-Level Grit

KATHY GABLER—Let’s get down to some ground–level grit.  It is God that brings (leads, influences, carries, persuades) sons to glory.  The sons’ part is to overcome through the process of getting there.   Opposition is anything that contradicts the Word, will or character of God in our lives.  In John 14:30, Jesus pointed out one major source of opposition was  “the ruler of this world.”   Your adversary, the devil, will oppose you continually.  Though the glory of God may have never been in the forefront of your thinking before now, it has been number one priority with the devil all along. He is afraid you will do what you were born to do.

Bringing Sons to Glory

Kathy Gabler — God has always intended to bring sons to glory, not cherubs. Father’s design is this: Father – Sons – Glory.  Satan audaciously tried to share God’s glory and he failed.  He has since been on a mission of revenge with full intent to thwart the glory by taking sons out of Father’s design equation.  This might answer questions you have about experiences where opposition continued to unexplainable extremes, perhaps to the point of people saying, “The devil must be scared of you!”  It is true.  The devil is afraid that you will BE a son of God who does what you were born to DO and thereby be one of the many sons Father brings to glory.

Reflecting God’s Glory

“Glory” can be translated “excellence”. If we stop short of the excellent purpose and use of God’s power in our life, we have stopped short of His glory. The glory of God through us is purpose revealed and realized. Thayer says that “glory” means “splendor, brightness of the moon”. We only speak of the beauty of the moon because it is reflecting the sun, and the only reason there is reflection is because of the power of the sun. We can only show forth the glory of Him who sits on the throne in heaven. Let us ask, “What of my life points back to heaven?” We are not come-shorters; we are go-forthers whose lives bring attention and recognition to the redemptive God of the ages.

Representing the Father

The glory of God through us, His creation, is not our putting forth effort to hit an ideal or to align with a creed or even getting to heaven. It’s accomplishing things that show His character, His Name in this earth in spite of the influence of culture. That which is in heaven comes to earth through an earthen vessel (Jer.18:4-6; Matt.6:10) and continually points back to its Source in heaven (Matt.5:16). That is why Jesus could say, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father” because He never misrepresented the Father, no matter how hard people (and the devil) tried to get Him to adjust to their expectations.
