The Lord Who Replenishes

May our wonderful LORD replenish (Heb.: to be filled, be satisfied,
to confirm, to be accomplished) that which has been depleted in
your health, your finance, your marriage, your dreams and your purpose.
“For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every
sorrowful soul.” (Jer.31:25, KJV)

Godly Passions
It should be a point of relief when we realize that our passions and energy can be godly without being religious. If you are called to the market place, your passion and energy thrives there. If you are called to nurture, your zeal and passion might be parenting or teaching. If you have a gift of hospitality, your call could range from the hotel industry to decorating and design. The point is that we bear the presence and purpose of God into every arena of life. We bring glory to God by doing what we were created to do. Jesus said that in John 17:4, “I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.” (NAU)

The Strong One Supports

Even if we are getting older we still have the same Strong Right Arm
to support us and we can walk with vitality in our step and stand erect
and go forth into the future with expectancy—because of Who He is.

I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.” (Isa.46:4, NKJV)

Submit Daily

Rebuilding the temple in Haggai parallels our mandate in the New Testament, “Seek first the Kingdom of God,” because He was telling them: 1) Put ME first daily, 2) be determined to know Me and honor Me daily and 3) submit to MY government, MY authority, MY purpose, MY call, MY plans and MY order for your life . . . DAILY. Grow into a mature son. Change the future by learning how and where you were created to succeed.

Open My Mind, Lord

As the people of God go about the day, may delusions and lies be defeated, and their minds be opened to the transforming truths
of the Holy Bible; and may they discover keys from God’s Word to the defeating, distracting things that bind so that they walk
out free in Christ Jesus.
“Open my mind and let me discover the wonders of your Law.”

May the Righteous Flourish

May the people who are justified and vindicated by God, the right, correct and lawful ones (“righteous”, BDB) bud, sprout, bloom, break out of leprosy and fly (“flourish”,BDB).
“The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].” (Ps.92:12, Amp)

A Willing Spirit
It is hard to see eternal purpose through the grit and grime of experience. So, our spirits have to be renewed, and that starts with cleaning life’s grime off the windows. That’s why David prayed in Psalm 51, “Create in me a clean heart, [send your window-cleaning presence!] O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” A steadfast spirit is a spirit that circumstances cannot bully, that emotions cannot control and that experiences cannot defeat. (v.11) “Don’t cast me away from your presence and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and sustain me with a willing spirit.” (NAU) A willing spirit is a spirit that is willing to try again, that is willing to believe again and that is willing to hope again.

One Greater Than the Temple

Jesus did not seem at all concerned about offending people who didn’t believe the way He believed. In Matt.12 He and His disciples walk through a corn field on the Sabbath and the disciples picked and ate corn. When approached by the Pharisees and rebuked for it, Jesus defended the disciples. He then walks into the synagogue and heals a man’s withered hand on the same Sabbath. He has now stacked up two major offenses. The Pharisees immediately called for a little confab to plan to destroy Him using the healing as their condemning accusation. Instead of apologizing and going great lengths to attempt to prevent offense, He rather reminded them in verse six that they were the ones offending by not acknowledging He is greater than the Temple and its system they claimed was being violated. “One greater than the Temple is here.”

Decision With Vision
Prov 29:18 – says, “Without a vision the people perish.” “Where there is no revelation or prophecy the people cast off restraint,” (RSV) When we have no vision, no awareness of God’s calling and purpose and plans, we have no guidelines for choices, no criteria for life. We tend to make life decisions like friendships, marriage, education, career and investments randomly, without awareness of how all areas of our life connect to the plan and call of God. That’s why our lives sometimes feel disjointed and conflicting and we end up confused, wounded and scarred with a bitter residue in our attitudes.

Not Focusing on Time

May we not focus on the loss of time and opportunities as we head into the remainder of this year. But may we focus on Him Who is faithful and desirous to get us to appointed times and purposes and may He help us not to sabotage what He is working in us.
“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” (Ps.138:8, NKJV)

Rebuilding Thought Patterns

The key difference between winning war and merely surviving is our beliefs and attitudes, and both start in our thinking. That’s why God was trying to change Judah’s thinking and focus (Hag.1:5-9). Rebuilding the temple would change their future. Rebuilding the temple would set their priorities in order and break the cycle they were in. Rebuilding the temple was about vision and purpose. When we have vision of a future that is different, better and beyond today’s limitations, we can muster the passion and zeal to take ground and get to change.

Praying for the Blessing of Others
As the people of God assemble today, may each one look beyond opportunities
to dwell on and point out the faults of others. May each one pray for the other
that their faults not overcome them but that they escape faults and shortcomings
and be blessed for the purposes of the Lord and the blessing of others.
“and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and
any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s
well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very
purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being,
happiness, and protection].” (1Pe.3:9, Amp)

Perseverance is the Evidence

Faith is the evidence of things not seen.
Perseverance is the evidence of faith.
Perseverance is the evidence of trust.
Perseverance is the “amen” spoken by us.
“For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes in Him [Christ]. For this reason we
also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His
Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.” (2Cor.1:20, Amp)

Falling Into Unbelief
Falling into unbelief isn’t really even complicated. When trials are extensive and answers to prayer are long in coming, doubt will always show up and build a case for unbelief. Doubt sniffs us out when we are afraid. Fear stinks and Doubt smells it! Fear is similar to germs in that it’s everywhere. We can dismiss it and wash it away like we do germs with soap, or we can allow the fear germs to infect us: “I’m afraid the situation might never change. I’m afraid they might not be healed. I’m afraid I might not be able to stand and keep fighting.” The moment we embrace fear, Doubt says, “AMEN,” and we begin the descent into unbelief; and unbelief is always a losing-ground war!

Experience and Taking Ground
Experience is hard to out argue. Experience can dominate our belief system. Experience can demand we doubt God and square-off with Him: “God, IF you’re there, then do something!“ Have you ever wondered why some people get prayers like that answered? They pray, “If you are God, heal me!” And they are healed! Or, “If there really is a God, give me a miracle.” And they get it! That’s got to be God’s goodness to bring them to repentance. Mature sons, already in the Vine, cannot start with, “IF you are God, then . . .” God will not accept that challenge. He knows a manipulative hissy fit when He sees one. At the point of a hissy fit, the next step is our response, not God’s. We can either repent and take some ground or spiral down into unbelief.

Conditioned by Truth
As we have seen in Hag.1:5-9, Judah was set-up to cower under pressure. We can understand why they shrunk back. They had been captives for generations. We can live under hereditary curses and generational outlooks on life that “set us up” to suffer loss financially or physically or relationally simply because that is the only experience we have known. We can be programmed for defeat and have mindsets that keep us prisoner to the same beliefs, appetites, reactions and choices of prior generations. If that is the case, we are likely to spend our lives merely surviving, not winning, not increasing, not taking any spoils. If we examine our lives, we might discover that is why we survive instead of advance. Have we like Judah been conditioned by our experiences instead of the Truth?

Harmoniously Set In

As the people of God assemble today, may each one realize how the
Father has set them in the Body of Christ so that they may function
effectively in a Holy Spirit-coordinated symphony that lifts a
harmonious praise to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body,
as it hath pleased him (1Cor.12:18, KJV)

Maintain Your Confidence
May you be able to maintain your confidence in God and His
will for you as you face every trial and discouragement. May
our Lord help you endure and accomplish all He has
designed for you to walk in.
“Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for
it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. For
you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that
you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and
thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is
promised.” (Heb.10:35-36, Amp)

Ordering Life According to Wisdom of God

Hag 1:5-9, “The LORD Almighty says “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” This is what The LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the LORD. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the LORD Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house.” (NIV) The instructions were clear: “Give careful thought to your priorities. Don’t decide your day according to your problems or your feelings or your circumstances. Order your life according to my wisdom and honor.” He was telling them to think differently so they could change their world.

Inheritance With Wisdom

May the Lord work in our behalf to bring us inheritances and
windfalls, and may we receive them and appropriately handle
them with wisdom so that we increase and bless others.
”Wisdom is good with an inheritance, an advantage to those
who see the sun.” (Eccl.7:11, ESV)

Giving up — Not an Option
By the time we find Judah in the book of EZRA, after being prisoners of confusion in Babylon, they are tired of looking for change and seeing only sameness. As soon as they came from captivity, they set up an altar for sacrifice and laid the foundations of a temple. However, in Ezra 4, it tells us their neighbors discouraged them and frightened them away from building. They’d hired counselors against them to frustrate them. They wrote accusations against Judah and Jerusalem saying they would become traitors. The government then stopped them by force and work on the temple ceased until the second year of Darius king of Persia.
By then however, the storms of life had layered grit and grime on their “windows” making it difficult to see anything encouraging. They couldn’t see the need to keep on trying! They had no spirit nor courage to try again. They said, “Not NOW, we haven’t even recovered from captivity. We can’t deal with one more thing right now!”
Hag 1:1-4, “In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai. This is what the LORD Almighty says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come for the LORD’s house to be built.'” Then the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai: “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?” (NIV) Giving up because we are weary is not an option.
