Both Hands on Plan A

The following is an excerpt from an article by MELISSA GABLER. (Melissa is speaking at Kingdom Equipping Congress 2016. The theme is “Sons/Daughters of the Kingdom”. Info: martygabler.com/kec2016)

This is the year to loose your grasp on plan B and take hold, with both hands, of plan A – His original intent for your life in 2016. If your answer is hidden, ask God what the right question is in this moment. Ask Him what, in you, might be hindering the answer. Ask Him what you need to know today. He’s got plans for you, He is not into punishing you. His M.O. is all about forgiveness, redemption, relation- ship, and promotion all for His glory. Hey, if He tells you it’s simply about timing then it’s really that simple. His timing is perfect. Look at the birth and life of Samuel. Perseverance is key! It’s going to be an amazing year. Get ready for your answers.

Don’t Limit the Limitless One

During the Gulf war I read about an interesting incident which happened to a sergeant who was a member of the Assemblies of God (I don’t remember which Assemblies publication it was. I am not attempting to quote but simply remember the story’s basic details). He and his men were awaiting orders at a designated position. While they were at this position, they were guarding some supplies. An Arab rode up on a camel and when he climbed CamelLoadedMandown, he presented the men with a small bundle. He was apparently quite desperate. It was obvious that he was pleading with the American soldiers but they were unable to understand the source of his desperation because the man only spoke Arabic. From a distance, the sergeant was sitting in a jeep watching the proceedings as the man fell to the ground and began drawing in the sand in an effort to communicate. Something in the sergeant’s heart was stirred as he observed the Arab’s frantic efforts. He walked over to where the commotion was and asked what was going on. The men showed him the bundle which contained an infant. The sergeant then asked the Arab what he needed. The Arab responded with great relief that, finally, someone could understand him. He told the sergeant that the baby was in desperate need of milk. It just so happened that there was a large stack of milk in cases which the soldiers were guarding. The sergeant gave his men orders to load as much milk as possible on the man’s camel. After the Arab had left, the soldiers approached the sergeant in amazement. One soldier spoke up and said, “Sir, none of us knew that you spoke Arabic.” The sergeant replied, “I don’t speak a word of Arabic.” With inquisitive looks, his men protested, “But, sir, we all heard you just speak Arabic to that man.” The sergeant heard himself speaking English and heard the Arab replying in English, yet they were both speaking Arabic. I wonder which operation of the Holy Spirit that was. Perhaps it was the compassionate heart of Jesus enabling two men to communicate who, otherwise, had no logical way of communicating. So, was it the gift of tongues or interpretation or was it mercy or the word of knowledge or the word of wisdom or perhaps some other? The end result was that a person who has experienced the power of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues was able to communicate with a man who spoke a language which he did not understand. Why would we want to limit this Limitless God Jehovah which we serve?

Manifest Sons Manifest Christ

AdultSonFatherThe following is an excerpt from a message by SIMON PURVIS. (Bro. Simon is speaking at Kingdom Equipping Congress 2016. The theme is “Sons/Daughters of the Kingdom”. Info: martygabler.com/kec2016)

I watched the season when we all tried to find our purpose while living external. There is only one purpose in earth, different functions but only one purpose. In Philippians 1, Paul was in prison and the people were praying for his deliverance. He made this statement, “The thing is not whether I live or die, the purpose is that Christ be manifest. For me to live is Christ.” You may be called to be an apostle or prophet, but that is not your destiny or purpose. That is a function in which you are to manifest Christ. Until we find out that our purpose is to manifest Christ, we will not know what life is about because callings and giftings will not satisfy. When we know Him internally, the motive is love and the purpose is that Christ be manifest. There is no other purpose for the saints. If we know Christ externally and get caught up in destiny and purpose, we fight people to the top, but manifest sons manifest Christ. Things that were important in the external are no longer important when we move into the internal.(This article was taken from a teaching given by Simon Purvis. Not the end of the Story

SamuelAnointDavidAs a mere boy David was anointed by one of the most powerful and effective prophets of all time. He was anointed, not to be pageboy, not to be the king’s confidant but to be king. But a few short years later he is standing in a cave shaking his head …. totally confused. This seemingly misplaced shepherd cries: Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life (Ps 142:4, NIV). But that was not the end of the story. That scenario certainly didn’t consume most of the pages of the book about David’s life. We also must read all the many, many pages which tell about all the battles David won. As he dances before the ark of the Lord while it is being brought to Zion (2Sam 6:14), they have come too late to tell him God does not make a way for those whom He calls. Scoffers have come too late to tell David God is not faithful, that God does not bring to victory those He ordains.

Understanding True Sonship

The following is an excerpt from Larry Burden’s new book “The Orphan Heart—Restoring True Sonship”. (Larry is speaking at Kingdom Equipping Congress 2016. The theme is “Sons/Daughters of the Kingdom”. March 2-4, 2016)

FatherWithChildrenMy early church experience was that of serving in any capacity that I could. I sang in the choir, served as a youth and worship minister, worked in the helps ministry as an usher and greeter, and more. Even when I received the call to full- time ministry, my mindset was that of serving in any capacity that was afforded me. I served as a pastor, teacher, and an executive administrator. Over the span of 29 years I was a faithful servant of the Lord, yet in that entire span of time I NEVER heard the message of SONSHIP! But here is the good news. It is NEVER TOO LATE!
Servant in scripture is defined as a slave, laborer, or bondman. A servant is one with no relational blessing of a father and who is destined to a life of servi- tude with no hope of inheritance. The word Son on the other hand is derived from a root word meaning build and speaks of a son who is a builder of the family name. A son is one who has the relational blessing of a father with full rights of inheritance as blood offspring. Their inheritance is accompanied by assigned privileges, authority, and possessions.
When you compare a servant to a son it looks like the following:
Servants honor their master by working; sons honor their fathers by being sons. Servants build relationship by performance; sons build relationship by love and trust. Servants are motivated by fear of punishment or hope of reward; sons are motivated by acceptance. Servants are works oriented; sons are inheritance ori- ented. Servants strive to earn love; sons freely receive love. Servants fear their masters; sons love their fathers. Servants fear failure; sons have the freedom to fail.
Without an understanding of true sonship, generations will continue to live as orphans and foster children. The key is to remove the curse of fatherlessness through the cross. The cross not only saves us from our sins and transforms us, it also gives to us a position of SONSHIP in our Father’s kingdom. Through the cross experience, we become translated into the eternal realm of the Father where we are given a new set of lenses to view ourselves differently. We have been given the right to see ourselves as SONS in the father’s house.

Not Out of God’s Purpose

OneBlackSheepJoseph had dreams. He was convinced, at one point, that they were not initiated in his own mind. Joseph is called to great responsibility. He is called to rule Pharaoh’s house. He shared his dreams and calling with brethren and as a result ended up in a pit and later in prison. He just stands there shaking his head. Now he is confused. But after a period of time, which was determined by an all-wise and all-knowing God, he stands before his brothers. They’ve come too late to tell Joseph he is out of God’s purpose. They’ve come too late to tell him that God does not step into the lives and conditions of men and work miracles. Standing before them he proclaims without a single doubt, “You did not send me here. It was to save many lives that God sent me ahead of you” (Gen 45:7).

Forward-Propelling Momentum

ForwardMomentumBy the time we find Peter in the 2nd chapter of Acts he has ceased his self-inflicting tortuous barrage of oaths and has already responded to the forward-propelling momentum of his Lord’s invitation. He is now proclaiming,  “These men are not drunk. I know what is happening here. This is what Joel was talking about. The Christ whom David spoke of was not abandoned to the grave but God has raised this Jesus to life!” (Acts 2:30-32). They’ve come too late to tell Peter that he cannot be restored to praise and purpose. They’ve come too late to tell Peter there’s no use in preaching. They’ve come to late to tell him that this Jewish area is a “burnt-over evangelistic field.” They’ve come too late because Peter just gave an altar call and 3,000 plus have jammed the altars to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
