“Oh, that my steps might be steady, keeping to the course you set; Then I’d never have any regrets in comparing my life with YOUR COUNSEL. I thank you for speaking straight from your heart; I learn the pattern of your righteous ways. I’m going to do what you tell me to do; don’t ever walk off and leave me… what you say is always so good. See how hungry I am for YOUR COUNSEL; preserve my life through your righteous ways!” (Ps.119:5-8, Msg) (The month of May is for counsel)

Trust to Dwell

Trust keeps the door open to dwell in His presence.  We stay around those we trust.  Ps.84:11 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord bestows grace and favor and honor; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Trust is the gateway to God’s intentions for us, equipping, protection, grace, favor and all good things.  It makes sense that the summation of this Psalm is, “O Lord of hosts, How blessed and greatly favored is the man who trusts in You.” On top of being born to trust, these are compelling reasons to do so.  (This is the sixth excerpt from the article “Trustworthy” by Melissa Gabler in SEEC Magazine.)

Counsel and Wisdom

As the people of God assemble today, may they receive counsel from the Mighty Counselor as His Word is preached and as the people of God each release to the other, in their encouragement and conversation, that wisdom which is from the mind of God Almighty for the edification of His people.
”You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to honor and glory.” (Ps.73:24, Amp)

God, Seasons and Order

The faithful God who set the seasons in undeniable order remains on His throne so that His order and purposes will be accomplished in the earth. As certainly as there is a summer that turns into fall and a fall that turns into winter there is One who sits above the machinations of unregenerate, self-serving men. People of faith will, therefore, align themselves with His order and contradict the disorder of faithlessness—step by step and day by day.  “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” (Gen.8:22, Amp)

Trust Finds Blessing

Blessing and favor follow those who trust.  Ps.84:6 “Passing through the Valley of Weeping (Baca), they make it a place of springs; The early rain also covers it with blessings.” Trust gets us through hard times so that we don’t make it our dwelling, and trust makes the hard times fruitful for not only us, but others.  Trust is not a selfish act.  Vs. 7 “They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; Each of them appears before God in Zion.”  Well, that’s a mouth full! Trust causes strength, and it removes the clouds of doubt so that we can see God.  Vs. 10 “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather stand [as a doorkeeper] at the threshold of the house of my God than to live [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.”  (This is the fourth excerpt from the article “Trustworthy” by Melissa Gabler in SEEC Magazine.)

The Lesser Government of Fear

Most everyone would admit, at some point, that they are fearful. Many things can drive the fears that deplete our hopes and expectancies. But, everything you fear operates on the authority of a government that is inferior to the government and King of the Kingdom of God. (Lk.2:11b, The Voice) “…He is the promised Anointed One, the Supreme Authority!”  (Matt.4:23b, Msg) “[Jesus]… taught people the truth of God. God’s kingdom was His theme—that beginning right now they were under God’s government, a good government!”  (Rom.13:1a, Msg) “All governments are under God.”  (Col.2:10, GNT) “and you have been given full life in union with Him. He is supreme over every spiritual ruler and authority.”  We are praying you discover daily that you are fearlessly living under the rule and authority of God Almighty.  (Marty’s Daily Discovery as heard on TEXAS PRAISE RADIO at the bottom of the hour 24 hours/day.)

Trust is a Principle of the Kingdom

Trust is a principle of the Kingdom.  God knew what He was doing when He created it.  It’s life-bearing, abundant-life-bearing. How beautiful it is that the principles of God are set in place to provide the John 10:10 abundant life for all who live them.  He gave us a map for life.  Check this out, Psalm 84:12 (AMP) “O Lord of hosts, How blessed and greatly favored is the man who trusts in You [believing in You, relying on You, and committing himself to You with confident hope and expectation].” Yes, that is beautiful.  But check out the rest of Psalm 84. It literally lines out what a life looks like that trusts God. Vs. 4 “Blessed and greatly favored are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; They will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah.”

Month of May is for Counsel

The month of May is for counsel – for giving counsel and receiving counsel. Expect the Lord to set up situations for you to (1) receive counsel for living – for knowing what to do when no one else does, (2) counsel for relationships, (3) counsel for finances, (4) counsel for walking out your Kingdom purpose, (5) counsel for working through seemingly impossible circumstances. Expect the Lord to set up situations where you will be able to pass on to others what you have freely been given. ”The wise will hear and increase their learning, And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth],” (Prov.1:5, Amp)

One of our Worst Enemies

Some of us have confused trust with diligence.  By “diligence” I mean we handle, fixate on, and stay worried about a problem until it’s fixed.  That is nowhere in the definition of trust.  It’s not only the opposite of trust, but it is seething with dysfunction and disease.  A lack of trust is one of our worst enemies.  We might be blaming things on the devil that are really a lack of trust in our own lives.  I’m sure the devil doesn’t mind when we blame him for such things because it makes his job easier.
