.

May the Lord help us to act with discretion and may we
seek Him and His Word until we have the understanding
we need to speak and act judiciously, not just for ourselves
but for the sake of others.

“Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall
keep you.” (Prov.2:11, Amp)

Knowing The THY Of THY Kingdom

DiamondFacetsWe are not praying for just “any” kingdom to come nor for “a” kingdom to come but for “THY” Kingdom to come (Matt.6:10). To have a Kingdom mentality, it is a necessity to know the “THY” of that unshakeable Kingdom (Heb.12:28). I heard a preacher say that he was taken up to heaven and an angel gave him a tour. After awhile they walked up to a room from which was shining a great brightness. He looked in and saw a great, bright Being on a throne. Above the Being were angels circling the throne. With each revolution around the throne they would begin shouting and praising all over again. The man asked the angel why they did that. The angel said that those angels had been circling the throne like that forever and that each time they made a new revolution around the throne they would see some aspect of God that they had not ever seen before and it would start them praising all over again. He is the God of the wisdom that has “innumerable aspects and infinite variety” (Eph.3:10). We have not seen everything.

Victorious Mentality

Looking in the Bible and looking at the decisions and actions of its victorious characters, it is obvious that the Loavesfishbasketpossibility exists for us to have a Kingdom mentality and act victoriously out of that mentality regardless of the pressure of overwhelming circumstances and insurmountable opposition. When we pray “Thy Kingdom come” we are praying: Thy will come, Thy authority come, Thy power come, Thy rule come, Thy order come, Thy sovereign activity come, Thy heavenly culture come (cf.”Kingdom of heaven; as it is in heaven”; also Acts17:6). If we truly pray “Thy Kingdom come”  we will not be of the mentality that dismisses the extraordinary of God Who is able to “do the undoable, change the unchangeable and provide the impossible”. If we are of a Kingdom mentality when it comes time to break loaves and fishes, we will not be thinking, “Oh, swell, now I will simply have two pieces of fish and two pieces of bread.” Rather we will be set up for the extraordinary of God since we know that, in our lifetime, we have only seen a fraction of the many-layered, many-sided wisdom (Eph.3:10) of God that can feed 5,000 with a sack lunch (Jn.6:9).

Access To Every Level

Thousands of Jewish prayers for the Messiah to come were answered.  Jesus was the answer to their prayers as well Layersas the biggest mega-dose of “Thy Kingdom come” in history.  Talk about seeing the Kingdom come, can you say JESUS?  Right before their eyes, the power, presence, authority, rule and order of Heaven on earth were embodied in the Christ!  However, they had prayed from a different and specific expectation.  They prayed for a Messiah who would improve their customs and culture and cause them to rise to the top in power and politics.  They weren’t praying for their beliefs, priorities, traditions and life-style norms to be disturbed or destroyed.  They were thoroughly shaken, agitated and stirred up about this religious shift from regimen to relationship, and they definitely didn’t want relationship with this Jesus.

The thing about seeing “Thy Kingdom Come” is that it carries the order and priorities of God, even if that shocks or contradicts or shakes current theology, current cultures, current belief-systems or even our interpretation of “Church”.  Those three words, “Thy Kingdom Come”, give God access to every level of our lives that must change to align with His Kingdom.  Just as He sent the Last Adam, the Redeemer to bring His original intent and order of the garden into reach once again, so He intends to bring our core values into His original intent and order.  That will mean major shaking in our thinking, in our conditions, in our priorities and in our earth . . . as it is in heaven.

Opposition And Advancing

BoatStormIt seems that some in the church have always had a theology that says something can’t be God if there are any difficulties involved. We want confirmation from God in the form of ease. We look for Gabriel and the boys to come and play us a few verses of “Onward Christian Soldiers” before we are willing to deal with difficulties. It may actually be more in line with scriptural example if we were to watch for satanic opposition as a sign of confirmation that we are on the right track. When Jesus told His disciples to get into the boat and go to the other side of the lake, a great wind rose against them and just about sank them! Actually, the scripture puts it this way, “the wind was contrary” (Mt 14:24). Nothing seemed to be working in their favor, yet it was the will of God for them to proceed, advance, adjust.

Our Daily Bread

Give us this day our daily bread. . . In a healthy father-son relationship, a son does not ask his father for BibleBreadenough food to be sustained for a day.  (Matt.6:8 already stated Father is aware of our needs even before we are.)  Give us this day our daily bread, more than a request, is a declaration of trust that our Father will decide the right portion, daily.  Rather than a mere petition, it is a declaration of agreement when we realize that our Father already knows the portion of provision (physically, financially, circumstantially) that we need in our lives today, not just to survive but to be fulfilled and equipped and successful.  This declaration is not a frugal request for bread crumbs to fight off hunger and poverty; rather it is an agreement with unlimited means for whatever is needed to walk out our purpose and bring glory to our Father.  He knows not only what we are to accomplish and steward in our day, but also in our lifetime, and He also knows the provision and timing of portions necessary to do so.  “Give us this day our daily bread” is deliberate agreement with our Father’s apportioning for life and purpose on a daily basis.  That means if I need $5000 today so it will gain interest and be an exact amount needed forty months from now, that $5000 will be part of my daily bread today.  As sons we steward relationships, money, circumstances, business and mandates.  If we trust Father to apportion our daily provision, that provision will be neither limited nor wasteful, but I believe understanding this as a declaration of agreement will definitely blow our doors with the changes it brings to our lives.  That prayer is agreement with (1) Father’s economy, (2) Father’s accounting and (3) Father’s agenda.

Thy Will Be Done

FatherSonShoulders
Thy will be done on earth as in heaven
. . . A son can choose to agree with His Father’s will whether he knows it specifically or not in any situation because he knows his Father and trusts his Father’s wisdom.  A son can also pray this prayer of agreement because he understands the “givens,” those conditions, designs and circumstances that reflect His Father’s will.

Purpose Revealed And Realized

The glory of God through us, His creation, is not our putting forth effort to hit an ideal or to align with MoonReflectSuna creed or even getting to heaven. It’s accomplishing things that show His character, His Name in this earth in spite of the influence of culture. That which is in heaven comes to earth through an earthen vessel (Jer.18:4-6; Matt.6:10) and continually points back to its Source in heaven (Matt.5:16). That is why Jesus could say, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father” because He never misrepresented the Father, no matter how hard people (and the devil) tried to get Him to adjust to their expectations. “Glory” can be translated “excellence”. If we stop short of the excellent purpose and use of God’s power in our life, we have stopped short of His glory. The glory of God through us is purpose revealed and realized. Thayer says that “glory” means “splendor, brightness of the moon”. We only speak of the beauty of the moon because it is reflecting the sun, and the only reason there is reflection is because of the power of the sun. We can only show forth the glory of Him who sits on the throne in heaven. Let us ask, “What of my life points back to heaven?” We are not come-shorters; we are go-forthers whose lives bring attention and recognition to the redemptive God of the ages.

Beyond Limitations

converted PNM fileJesus instructed His disciples to pray that the Kingdom of Heaven would come to earth (Mt 6:10). That is one major reason why the moves of God and manifestations of God in this earth are so important—because they lift our sense-oriented sight and sense-enslaved minds beyond the pitiful limitations of man’s small world. Which brings me to ask the question: How in the world did Peter ever walk on water?! To see what we have never seen and to do what we have never done, we must connect to what we have never been connected to!

God’s Government Increasing

River

Prophet Isaiah (9:7) assures us that “There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.” The Kingdom of God is the government of God in action—God’s will being acted out (Matt.6:10)—and we are assured in the Word of God that His government will increase with a never-ending increase.

Praying HIS Requests

congregation praying

As the people of God assemble today, may our Lord’s prayer requests be prayed
by His people.
May those things He desires on earth, in the lives of people be
prayed in agreement with His heart and purposes.

“In this manner, therefore, pray:  Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
10  Your kingdom come.  Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt.6:9-10, NKJV)

Thy Kingdom Affect Environment

city crowdOur Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. If our Father’s will be done on earth–at least–as it concerns me, as concerns my family, as concerns my church–it will affect my environment.

“Thy Kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt.6:10)

The Point Of Empowerment

Sentiment may tell us that being persecuted is the same as being a victim or even a martyr, but according to this beatitude in Matt.5:10, persecution for righteousness’ sake actually marks the point of empowerment, Open_doorwhere the blessings of the Kingdom (that is, the power of His order and unlimited resources) open to us.  This scripture tells us we have the option to see persecution defensively or offensively, as victimization or empowerment. Spending our life pressing toward the mark and taking a righteous ground,  will involve persecution in the process, but persecution is not a goal, and God certainly never intended us to develop a victim’s  expectation  that draws it.

(This is an excerpt from an article by Kathy Gabler entitled “Offense: The Kingdom In Action” in which she talks about the advantage of moving from merely a defensive strategy to an offensive strategy.)

COMING THROUGH HUMAN AGENCY — PROCESS

COMING THROUGH HUMAN AGENCY — PROCESS

hands reachingAccording to the language Jesus used in Matthew, the coming of the Kingdom of God is a process. Mt 6:10 “Thy Kingdom come.” The word “come” in that verse means: to come forth, to find place or influence; to be established (Thayer). This is not a magical popping into existence. The Kingdom comes forth, finds place and influence and is established in and through human agency today just as it came through human agency in Lk 4:21, Mt 12:28, Lk 9:10, and Lk 11:20. It came through Jesus and through His disciples. (cf. Jn 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater {works} than these shall he do; because I go to the Father. NAS)

Signs And Wonders Within Reach

Signs And Wonders Within Reach (Kathy Gabler)
We’ve only had peeks of God’s government impact in our lives and families and nation. We have only seen glimpses of God’s order in church history, but God is going to answer our prayer that Jesus taught us to pray: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.” (Mt6:10)  That is an invitation to pierce the natural realm with the supernatural.  So, we are going to have to adjust our thinking accordingly.  We are going to have to think differently than previous generations.  We must become convinced the supernatural dynamic of the Kingdom is within reach (Mt10:7) because we were born to participate and demonstrate the Kingdom just like Jesus demonstrated it. Coming under God’s order and government contradicts ruling forces with miracles, signs and wonders as necessary in order to usher in healing, deliverance and reformation.
