Fit in the Plans of God

KATHY GABLER— Growing up on Abraham Avenue, Zacharias, Elizabeth, Joseph and Mary had no idea how they would fit in the plans of God & the history of man. Amid all their lessons in history & prophecy from the Torah, they had never pictured themselves as key players in the greatest story ever told. However, their lives were divinely positioned for the plans of God. God intends your life to be spent to His glory. (Jer.29:11)

Expectancy

jump upAs the people of God assemble today, let them lift their voices with expectancy that the Jesus of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John will act as compassionately and powerfully and amazingly in their gathering as He did in the Gospels. Matt.11:5, TPT — “‘The blind see again, the crippled walk, lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised back to life, and the poor and broken now hear of the hope of salvation!’”

Timing and Plans Confirmed

God graciously confirmed His plans and His timing to both Zachariah and Mary.  An angel showing up in the temple could have been a powerful and private confirmation to Zachariah that the messenger brought a telegram from God Almighty, but Zachariah had years of crusty unbelief to hinder his reception.  So, being mute until he held the promise was his additional confirmation and was both public and humbling.  When Mary asked for confirmation, several things PrayWomanSunset.jpghappened.  She was told she would undergo a physical experience of the Holy Spirit overshadowing her to conceive.  She was given a word of knowledge that her older, barren cousin, Elizabeth, was six months pregnant!  Then Gabriel reassured her with the proclamation: “For with God nothing will be impossible.”  After that, Mary arrived at Elizabeth’s door and she became a second witness: “When Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! “But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?  “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”  Mary’s call was confirmed even more when her bethrothed, Joseph, was convinced in a dream that his wife-to-be would indeed experience a “virgin birth” and bring forth Jesus, the Savior of the world. —Kathy

Not Outlived Purpose

Zach and Liz did not know they were born to produce the forerunner of Christ.  And if they had known, at their age they would have felt certain that they had outlived purpose!  Elizabeth’s age and health and natural mind could not see a pregnancy in her future, especially not one of such divine order.  How many people of God, because of age and health and life’s circumstances, feel they have outlived purpose, not realizing there are people not yet born that they are destined to touch, not realizing there are circumstances not yet in existence they were born to affect or cover in prayer?  (Seventh excerpt from Kathy’s article “Positioned for Purpose”.)

Age and Barrenness no Obstacle

Do you think Elizabeth was PREPARED to be the mother of the forerunner of the Messiah?  In all her prayers for a child, that had definitely never entered her mind!  On top of that, Elizabeth was barren; and she and her husband were both well along in years.  Age opposed purpose!  Age defied destiny.  Age contradicted the plans of God!  So, no, she was not PREPARED to birth John the Baptist, but she was POSITIONED by God . . . in destiny . . . in purpose . . . in the history of mankind! With God all things are possible no matter what area you are barren in and no matter your age.  (Third excerpt from Kathy’s article “Positioned for Purpose”.)
