Gifts And Surprises

surprisedMay the people of the Lord God receive gifts and surprises
and may you receive surprise visits from those you would
dearly love to see.

“If I were in your shoes, I’d go straight to God I’d throw myself
on the mercy of God. After all, he’s famous for great and unexpected
acts;  there’s no end to his surprises.” (Job 5:8-9, Msg)

Pulling Us To The Image Of Christ

earth moon

The overwhelming factor in God’s design is that He has purposed to bring each of us to the Image of Christ (Rom.8:29). That wondrous “Gravity Pull” upon us is not pulling us to heaven. It is pulling us to display the Word… made flesh… full of grace and truth. (Jn 1:14) God is pulling us to Himself in order that we may be like Him. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2Co 3:18)

God’s Gravity Pull

gravity pull

Our sovereign God puts within His purpose for us a certain “gravity pull” which causes all things to  work together to get us to the fulfillment of that purpose. That “Gravity Pull” upon us will get us to purpose and to a satisfying sense of fulfillment if we do not allow strong “gravity pull” from other “planets” and “black holes” to divert us.

May They Stay On Track

on track

May those who “fall” and “mess up”, and can’t seem to stay on track
for very long, get a good dose of the Word and the Holy Ghost and
run the race as faithful servants of the Lord. May their reputation
change from “faller” to “faithful”.

“Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to
make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling
and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.” (2Pe.1:10, Amp)

Enablement Beyond Who We Are

one on one

There are people who need you, O Lord. They need to be strengthened, encouraged, equipped and comforted. Give us enablement that is beyond who we are, what we know and what we can do so that they may be edified and impacted to the degree you want them to be.

“So then, as occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good [morally] to all people [not only [b]being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage]. Be mindful to be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith [those who belong to God’s family with you, the believers].” (Gal.6:10, Amp)

Drawn To Destiny

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Rom 8:28-29)

Not Driven Under Influence

driving

If we let bad experiences be the sound that fills the air around us, then we continue to bow to destructive influences in our thinking, then we defeat ourselves, then we cry, “Foul,” but there is no resolve in blame.  It is much wiser to learn to clear the air in our own life.  May the Lord help us to realize the power of agreement we have within us so that we do not empower the wrong influences.  We do not have to live under a “DUI” charge (meaning here, Driven Under the Influence) of fear or lies or hopelessness or painful experience or any other darkness.  We are on earth so that our lifetime will demonstrate the Kingdom and government of God.  That means we cannot be content to be driven under any influence that is not God.  Let’s clear the air!

Defying Past Patterns

Stop

We should not be passive about patterns in our own life because of experience.  For example, Job said, (3:25)  “For what I fear comes upon me, And what I dread befalls me.”  Fear is being open for what could happen, and that is agreement that empowers it.  Experience can argue that your fears are always successful, but even if we cannot deny experience or past patterns, we can most certainly defy them and keep them from controlling the rest of our lives.

Each Member Set

Body of Christ

As the people of God assemble today, may they see each other through the eyes of our Lord who has set each of them in the Body of Christ as it has pleased Him. May we each be divinely enabled to see the giftings and abilities the Head of the Body has designed for each one to function in so that each member may fulfill their purpose and glorify God who has called us.

“But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.” (1Cor.12:18, NKJV)

Your Home A Sanctuary

Your house

Your Home #1– May your home be a sanctuary and may you be
at peace there. May you find comfort and safety within its walls
and comfort from those who dwell there. May you have quiet and
solitude and not be invaded by inordinate noise and commotion of nearby dwellings.

“…You will come back home and live in peace; you will be secure,
and no one will make you afraid.” (Jer.30:10b, GNT)

Breaking Patterns

Under any influence our thoughts are affected and what we think we speak and what we speak is agreement that legalizes what goes on in our world.  That makes me wonder if one of the Tornadoreasons that history repeats itself is because the air is conditioned for it.  It is possible that it only took one or two storms in Kansas to have people rehearsing the trauma and filling the atmosphere with dread and expectation that eventually formed “Tornado Alley.”  We honestly cannot deny experience, but we can defy it developing into a pattern that rules the day.  Is it an extreme and absurd thought to you that even weather patterns can be affected by the power of the tongue?  Are the atmospheric conditions an untouchable, sovereign element of nature or did Jesus speak to the storm?  I’m not suggesting a new breed of storm-chasers, rather that we do what the Father is doing, even as He directs concerning weather and nature.  If experience is backed with agreement that becomes a power of the air in a geographical region or in a family, in a community, in a business or in a nation, we still do not have to stay in passive agreement with that pattern if it is not the will of God.  We can agree with God and clear the air.
(This is the seventh excerpt from Kathy’s article “Clear The Air” which was published in Volume 18 Issue 4 of their ministry magazine SEEC Magazine. Excerpts will be posted Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Previous excerpts may be read by scrolling down this page.)

Receive Faithful Words

friends talking

May we receive the faithful words of true friends, counselors, fathers and mothers, and make the proper adjustments to become more effective in the purposes of our Lord and more valuable to others. May their words propel us forward. But may we treat unqualified opinions and criticisms as water off a duck’s back and refuse to let them anchor us to unwarranted sloth.

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” (Prov.27:6 KJV)

“Friends mean well, even when they hurt you. But when an enemy puts his arm around your shoulder—watch out!” (Prov.27:6, GNB)

Learn To Be Aware

over shoulder look

Discernment can come as a gift of God in a sudden knowing or awareness, or we can ask for wisdom that will help us learn to discern.  We can learn to be aware of the presence of gathering forces lurking to take advantage of conditions, circumstances and activities.  It is wise not to ignore the nuances, the fleeting thoughts and sounds and awarenesses, the dream or vision glimpses, the echoes of conversation that keep coming to mind, etc.  Connect the dots until you have a picture of what is going on.  When something touches our awareness, even if it has been allowed for generations and its tenure has made it a norm, we are alive to confront it.   When air holds God-stuff, then, “Amen.”  If it is not, then, “Shut up.”  Or simply say, “No,” when you begin to realize something is trying to affect the atmosphere around you negatively.  Otherwise, whispers can stay in the atmosphere and linger until the enemy can use them to his advantage for influence.

Little Made Sufficient

loaves fishes

Just because we do not deliver or give at the same level or in the same manner as someone else, does not mean that we hold back what God has for us to release. The little boy did not hold back his little lunch of loaves and fishes just because it wasn’t sufficient in the eyes of some. He didn’t withdraw saying, “This won’t do any good.” He released it and Jesus took the little and made it sufficient for many.

“He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much…” (Lk.16:10a, Amp)

Atmosphere

fanblowing

I remember once that a spirit of depression came into the house.  It was almost visible like a cloud of fog. Marty and I both noticed the plaguing presence and realized neither of us were down or worried so that we had generated such a downer-atmosphere.  (One sign you are dealing with a spirit is they are irrational and cannot be explained through logical processing.)  That spirit had come in trying to contaminate the air to influence our mood or conversation so that we would give agreement to legalize its presence and agenda.  This is why the air is a crucial battlefield.  It is  unseen, yet present, so we must learn to discern and pick up on what has blown in.  When we are conscious of these things then we can counter them.  If we don’t discern it, we can add to the toxicity of the air because we allow our moods or thoughts or words to just go with the flow.  That is coming under the influence of the air and that is agreement that empowers it’s agenda.  We have to discern and refuse to agree through our reactions or words or moods.

Strengthen The Weak

help someone up

As the people of God assemble today, may they lift up and strengthen the hands
that hang down and are tired; may they strengthen the knees that are weak and
trembling from heavy loads and stress. May many leave the meeting and go into
the coming week with strength and encouragement from their brothers’ and
sisters’ words and prayers.

“Give strength to hands that are tired and to knees that tremble with weakness.
4  Tell everyone who is discouraged, “Be strong and don’t be afraid! God is coming
to your rescue, coming to punish your enemies.” (Isa.35:3-4, GNT)

Cleanse You Of Toxins

harmful toxins and clean your blood system.

not hurt them…”(Mk.16:18b, GW)

“LET IT RAIN”

Setting An Atmosphere

Do we set a bad atmosphere with our thoughts or emotions or words, or does the atmosphere hunt us down to dictate our thoughts or emotions or words?  I believe the answer is both.  We certainly have the ability to create an atmosphere for ourselves and everyone around us.  One person’s impatience in a waiting room can have everyone tense and walking on fog treeseggshells in a matter of seconds.  One person’s panic can clear a room.  Our expectations, meditations, fears or our mouthing against self can fill the air until it is lethal.  However, not only people are able to condition an atmosphere.  The devil is called “the prince of the power of the air” (Eph.2:2) for a reason.  He is skilled at blowing in a foul wind to influence people and situations.  The Old Testament word “ruach” is translated “spirit” most often, but it means “wind” or “breath”.  In the New Testament, the same word is “pneuma”.  A spirit or wind can carry a contradiction to the will of God into an atmosphere by blowing in a lie or fear or threat or opinion or accusation, etc.   The air becomes its infected storage place so that it can affect and influence thoughts and feelings when it finds an advantage, an open window.   Just as we breathe in air unconsciously, we can also come under the influence of what’s in the air  unconsciously.   It can become an influence over our emotions and thoughts and decisions.
(This is the fourth excerpt from Kathy’s article “Clear The Air” which was published in Volume 18 Issue 4 of their ministry magazine SEEC Magazine. Excerpts will be posted Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Previous excerpts may be read by scrolling down this page.)

interjecting a positive outlook when we

Defining Moments

treeWhen I heard “and the moment before” it was one of those defining moments that declares God is in charge and that He has the last word on all that concerns me.  (The fact that He takes time to define a moment in our life is a shot of impacting love.)  Those defining moments bring a clarity that pierces every other influence we may be under.  The subtle snare is how easy it is to come under the influence of a thought, an emotion or an atmosphere and be in agreement before we even realize we had a choice not to.  Recently, I realized this as I was packing to leave for a few days of meetings.  The phone rang and the host pastor mentioned something in passing that really had nothing to do with the meetings, but it bothered me.  My excitement for the trip was slammed.  A slammed, emotional state is an open window for an unwanted wind of influence to enter and preside.  Of course, we can choose not to allow the influence over our mood or our day, but emotion can swing from excitement to dread so quickly that the will does not get involved until it too is under the same influence.  Then once the mind is under the influence of a negative atmosphere, it is amazing how your whole world is suddenly mulligrub grey.
(This is the third excerpt from Kathy’s article “Clear The Air” which was published in Volume 18 Issue 4 of their ministry magazine SEEC Magazine. Excerpts will be posted Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Previous excerpts may be read by scrolling down this page.)
