Not Focusing on Time

ClockWings
May we not focus on the loss of time and opportunities as we head into the remainder of this year. But may we focus on Him Who is faithful and desirous to get us to appointed times and purposes and may He help us not to sabotage what He is working in us.

“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” (Ps.138:8, NKJV)

Rebuilding Thought Patterns

BuildingBlocksWall
The key difference between winning war and merely surviving is our beliefs and attitudes, and both start  in our thinking.  That’s why God was trying to change Judah’s thinking and focus (Hag.1:5-9).  Rebuilding the temple would change their future. Rebuilding the temple would set their priorities in order and break the cycle they were in. Rebuilding the temple was about vision and purpose. When we have vision of a future that is different, better and beyond today’s limitations, we can muster the passion and zeal to take ground and get to change.

Praying for the Blessing of Others

PrayForOneAnotherAs the people of God assemble today, may each one look beyond opportunities
to dwell on and point out the faults of others. May each one pray for the other
that their faults not overcome them but that they escape faults and shortcomings
and be blessed for the purposes of the Lord and the blessing of others.

“and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and
any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s
well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very
purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being,
happiness, and protection].” (1Pe.3:9, Amp)

Perseverance is the Evidence

ManPersevering
Faith is the evidence of things not seen.

Perseverance is the evidence of faith.
Perseverance is the evidence of trust.
Perseverance is the “amen” spoken by us.

“For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes in Him [Christ]. For this reason we
also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His
Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.” (2Cor.1:20, Amp)

Falling Into Unbelief

FallingMidAirFalling into unbelief isn’t really even complicated.  When trials are extensive and answers  to prayer are long in coming, doubt will always show up and build a case for unbelief.  Doubt sniffs us out when we are afraid.  Fear stinks and Doubt smells it!  Fear is similar to germs in that it’s everywhere.  We can dismiss it and wash it away like we do germs with soap, or we can allow the fear germs to infect us: “I’m afraid the situation might never change.  I’m afraid they might not be healed. I’m afraid I might not be able to stand and keep fighting.”  The moment we embrace fear, Doubt says, “AMEN,” and we begin the descent into unbelief; and unbelief is always a losing-ground war!

May the Lord Keep You From Falling

ManSteppingUP
May the Lord keep you from tripping, falling, or mis-stepping.  May He keep your footsteps and keep you in safe paths and free of injuries.

“You will help me, Lord God, and keep me
from falling;” (Ps.54:4, CEV)

Experience and Taking Ground

fingerpointingupExperience is hard to out argue.  Experience can dominate our belief system.  Experience can demand we doubt God and square-off with Him:  “God, IF you’re there, then do something!“ Have you ever wondered why some people get prayers like that answered?  They pray, “If you are God, heal me!”  And they are healed!  Or, “If there really is a God, give me a miracle.” And they get it!  That’s got to be God’s goodness to bring them to repentance.  Mature sons, already in the Vine, cannot start with, “IF you are God, then . . .”  God will not accept that challenge.  He knows a manipulative hissy fit when He sees one.  At the point of a hissy fit, the next step is our response, not God’s.  We can either repent and take some ground or spiral down into unbelief.

Conditioned by Truth

Silhouette of hiking man jumping over the mountains at sunsetAs we have seen in Hag.1:5-9, Judah was set-up to cower under pressure. We can understand why they shrunk back.  They had been captives for generations. We can live under hereditary curses and generational outlooks on life that “set us up” to suffer loss financially or physically or relationally simply because that is the only experience we have known.  We can be programmed for defeat and have mindsets that keep us prisoner to the same beliefs, appetites, reactions and choices of prior generations.  If that is the case, we are likely to spend our lives merely surviving, not winning, not increasing, not taking any spoils.  If we examine our lives, we might discover that is why we survive instead of advance.  Have we like Judah been conditioned by our experiences instead of the Truth?

Harmoniously Set In

Symphony
As the people of God assemble today, may each one realize how the
Father has set them in the Body of Christ so that they may function
effectively in a Holy Spirit-coordinated symphony that lifts a
harmonious praise to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body,
as it hath pleased him (1Cor.12:18, KJV)
