Believing is About Relationship

MELISSA—Believing is about relationship with Jesus. Think about it, when Jesus walked the earth these signs were simply part of His nature. They flowed out of Him. Here is my definition of this kind of relationship just to be clear: Priority focus and attention, Guidance given and examples to live by, I trust Him with my life. So, my relationship with Jesus being priority should produce the same lifestyle He lived. I believe in Him, walk with Him, talk with Him, follow Him and signs simply flow out of the nature formed from that relationship.  This completely changes the rules of engagement regarding anything I am faced with from here on out.

The Time for Sackcloth and Prayer

KATHY—Sennacherib made it plain to King Hezekiah that he intended to run right over Israel just like he had other nations (2Kings 18). At that point, Hezekiah put on sackcloth and went to prayer and sent runners to Isaiah the prophet with this message: it is a day of deep distress; for sons have come to birth and there is no power to bring them forth.  In other words, it’s time to pierce the darkness around us and change the future for generations to come, but we’re not strong enough to do it. We could add to Hezekiah’s message in our day:  most of us are too weary to even try to fight the darkness because for years we’ve seen morally depraved people blaspheme all things sacred! For years, we’ve watched wealthy bullies get away with murder and seen corrupt politicians cheat and blackmail and bribe their way to the top. We’ve watched media deliberately lie and deceive and brainwash the public with propaganda. We’ve seen technology kill people and engineered devices take their toll.  And we’ve seen injustice go unpunished.  All this has left us rattled and weary and weak. Hezekiah was aware they needed God, he put on sackcloth and went to prayer and He took action to begin sanctifying the nation and that was an obedience that led to the intervention of God for their nation.

Tell the People to go Forward

In speaking of Getting Ready for the Next Level it would behoove us to consider some basic meaning in that title. NEXT LEVEL: next step, next move, following step, what follows, next on the list, next stage, next phase, what comes next, follow-up, further action, future action, next in order. Getting Ready: Faith, stepping out, moving toward (not satisfied with status quo, with where we are, with just letting things bump along as is), not the same old attitude; not staying in the same rut. Ex.14:13-16,Amp—“Moses told the people, Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. 15 The Lord said to Moses, Why do you cry to Me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward!”  The time is ripe for going forward to the next level, to that which beckons us onward to victory.

And These Signs Will Follow

MELISSA—I was reading the Great Commission in Mark 16 recently and something jumped out at me that gave me more of an understanding of how the rules are changing.  “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18.  “And these signs will follow those that believe” – Wait, I’ve been desperately praying for these things to manifest. This tells me that when I believe these signs follow. I don’t have to go searching for them. And “believing” is not about believing in signs.  We are meant to believe in the One Who beat death just prior to laying out this commission! Believing is about relationship with Jesus. Think about it, when Jesus walked the earth these signs were simply part of His nature. They flowed out of Him.  He only followed the rules of engagement of the Kingdom.  The spirit of the age had no hook in Him and He did not play by its rules.

Hope of Divine Help

KATHY—Judah was upset as their idolatrous and corrupt lifestyle was shattered, but they faced an even greater threat from another direction at the same time. A cunning enemy, an Assyrian Commander who fully intended to take them captive, used their upheaval of norms as the moment to undermine their confidence in their king Hezekiah and more importantly, their God!  He taunted them saying, “You obviously have no hope of divine help!” And they couldn’t argue with that since King Hezekiah had already cleared out their collection of gods, proving all their gods were powerless and disposable (2Kings 18)! Sennacherib reminded them that the Assyrians had taken over country after country and none of their gods had done them any good.  Added to that, any hope they might have had of Jehovah God’s help took a nose dive with the fall of the “SNAKE on a STICK!” Judah was shaking in their boots. Taking advantage of that moment, the crafty Assyrian put them to the question: What justifies your confidence that you can beat us?

(For future reference, no matter who corners us with such a question, whether friend or foe or self-talk, there is only one answer: Our confidence comes from the faithfulness of God. His faithfulness is greater than anybody’s opinion or experience or track record.)

Almighty God Working His Purposes

As the people of God assemble today they should realize that Almighty God is planning and willing and working His Kingdom purposes in the earth. Let them hope in His desire to fulfill His promises in them and bring them to their potential to impact those in their sphere of influence. Matt.5:13-16,ESV—“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Do Not Settle

“God has great things in store for you. Do not settle for where you are but go to the next level. Many of us are stuck in the same place in our lives, ministry and career that we were five years ago not amounting to our full potential. We become comfortable with what worked yesterday not realizing that God is calling us to another level; another level in our ministry; another level in our career and another level in our lives.” (Eston Swaby, Go to the Next Level.) The significance of going to the next level reaches vitally beyond our individual person and is stated poignantly by Jim Hodges (SEEC Magazine): “The battle rages because there are spiritual, cultural, and political forces which oppose the Gospel and its growth. These forces are adversarial, evil, and wicked. Thus, we need to go the next level in our responsibilities in intercession and involvement on all the fronts of the battle! I remind you of what the old hymn says: “There is victory in Jesus”.

Exciting Time

(12-9-22) MELISSA — It really is an exciting time even though it may not look like it because we have entered a new era. Let’s look a little closer at what this means.  Merriam Webster defines “era” as: “a memorable or important date or event, especially one that begins a new period in the history of a person or thing, a stage in development.”  When I read this definition, that last part jumped off the screen, “a stage in development”.  So, I looked up “development“: “1. An unfolding; the discovering of something secret or withheld from the knowledge of others; 2. The unraveling of a plot.” Oh my! We have been in the midst of an “unraveling plot” our entire lives! I am basing the time span of the past era on the life of Dr. Billy Graham.  There were several words out there that the death of Dr. Graham would mark significant change, and that is when I knew we were truly in a new era.  So, for most of us we have been in this “stage of development” all of our lives.  God has been developing the Kingdom here on earth throughout the past era and we are about to see what He has been doing.

What the Father is Doing

(12-8-22) KATHY — Perceiving what the Father is doing may blow our doors at times. Participating in His Original Intent for your life can include tasks and experiences that you did not see coming. The scope of your participation may be overwhelming to the point that you want to shrink back because you suddenly feel you are just an unequipped, insignificant tiny DOT on the globe! I am alluding to one of those RED DOTS on a map that says, “You’re right here.” If you are feeling like a DOT yourself, you see such a map and think, ‘And so what! What possible difference can I make?’ However, doing what the Father is doing means we have to focus on Truth rather than our feelings. The truth is that this little DOT is a son or daughter that is right here, right now, to do Father’s business. This little DOT is an agent of agreement and this little DOT is an access point for Almighty God to bring “as it is in heaven” into this earth!

Righteousness and Unrighteousness

(12-7-22) There are a lot of religious people spending a lot of time wondering why there is so much unrest in our society and why Christ and His purposes and His people are so opposed, even hated. Righteousness troubles the unrighteous. Any time there is unrighteousness on the scene and the light of righteousness exposes it, unrighteousness will be troubled and when troubled, will react. There is no fellowship between righteousness and unrighteousness, between light and darkness. We cannot adjust the Word and principles of God so that everyone who comes among us is comfortable.

Eph.5:8-14,TPT—Once your life was full of sin’s darkness, but now you have the very light of our Lord shining through you because of your union with him. Your mission is to live as children flooded with his revelation-light! 9 And the supernatural fruits of his light will be seen in you—goodness, righteousness, and truth. 10 Then you will learn to choose what is beautiful to our Lord. 11 And don’t even associate with the servants of darkness because they have no fruit in them; instead, reveal truth to them. 12 The very things they do in secret are too vile and filthy to even mention. 13 Whatever the revelation-light exposes, it will also correct, and everything that reveals truth is light to the soul. 14 This is why the Scripture says,

“Arise, you sleeper! Rise up from your coffin and the Anointed One will shine his light into you!”
