Pentecost Sunday

As the people of God assemble on Pentecost Sunday, may they hear afresh their Lord as He charges His followers: “He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised,” (Acts 1:4) “And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost” (John 20:22) and then Apostle Paul throws in: “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” (Eph 5:18). The tense used in the original language actually reads: “BE YE BEING FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT”. In other words, there is to be an ongoing filling or a series of fillings.

The Point Of Empowerment

Sentiment may tell us that being persecuted is the same as being a victim or even a martyr, but according to this beatitude in Matt.5:10, persecution for righteousness’ sake actually marks the point of empowerment, Open_doorwhere the blessings of the Kingdom (that is, the power of His order and unlimited resources) open to us.  This scripture tells us we have the option to see persecution defensively or offensively, as victimization or empowerment. Spending our life pressing toward the mark and taking a righteous ground,  will involve persecution in the process, but persecution is not a goal, and God certainly never intended us to develop a victim’s  expectation  that draws it.

(This is an excerpt from an article by Kathy Gabler entitled “Offense: The Kingdom In Action” in which she talks about the advantage of moving from merely a defensive strategy to an offensive strategy.)

Disclosing What Is To Come

Disclosing What Is To Come

Jn 16:13  “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14  “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15  “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.   The Holy Spirit now makes available to all what was only available to a few in the Old Testament. (Lk24:49;Jn16:13;20:22;Acts1:8;Eph5:18;1Jn2:20) We must have impartation from the Holy Spirit to know what is to come. He takes the things of Jesus and shows them to us. Jesus is the One who has a future and if we are to participate in HIS future, we need to know the things that are of Him.

Isa 33:5  The LORD is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. And He will be the stability of your times, A wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; The fear of the LORD is his treasure. (Amp)

changes the unchangeable,

and provides the impossible.
