We Will Not Fall Backward

FallBackwardThere are blessings, signs, wonders and miracles about to happen in our lives, our families, our churches and our nation because God was witnessing of it before you and I were ever born—for His Name’s sake. We will not fall backward from promise in our confession. We will not say as Abraham, “Since You have given no offspring to me, one born in my house is my heir.” (Gen.15:3). Because He who is Witness responds “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir.” (v.4)

Jehovah As Witness

MountainThe result of “call unto me” is “I will answer you.” That word “answer” means “to respond as a witness.” (Brown-Driver-Briggs) God is not coming to the witness stand to say, “Well, back in 600 B.C. ‘this’ happened and so-and-so did ’that’.”  “But He is a witness to what is going to happen because He is going to bring it about.  From the very beginning telling you what the ending will be, All along letting you in on what is going to happen, Assuring you, ‘I’m in this for the long haul, I’ll do exactly what I set out to do’.” (Isa 46:10, MSG) Jehovah is the kind of witness who does not come and say what He saw but what He sees. He declares the end of a thing before it ever gets started. He is not sitting around talking about what happened a year ago, He is already speaking of that which is in the coming year and He is requiring agreement with it.

Sleep Soundly

May the Lord’s people sleep soundly and receive all the rest you should as you
sleep and awake
refreshed with all the energy you need for the day’s tasks.
May you get done more than you had previously thought possible.

“You will not be afraid when you go to bed, and you will sleep soundly
through the  night.”  (Prov.3:24, GNT)

Which You Do Not Know

Astonishingly, the “which you do not know” (Jer.33:3) part is not with reference to anything that has been kept secret or that has not existed here-to-fore. This is not the first time Jeremiah has Dont know3heard of Jehovah’s desire to deliver and restore Israel. “Which you do not know” is, in fact, something Jeremiah does not now know because it is now covered up and overwhelmed with present circumstances and everyone’s conclusions. The sounds of destruction, conversation of people in dismay and the obvious presence of the enemy’s army are so loudly proclaiming destruction that Jeremiah has forgotten what he once knew and is, therefore, unable to proclaim it, let alone act on it. The desire of Jehovah has been displaced with other considerations and conclusions. But even before there is one ounce or semblance of relief, Jeremiah is required to vocally come into agreement with that which God is determined to grant, no matter appearances or opinions.

May Fathers Discern Potential

Palestinian family prays during Mass at Israeli church

As the people of God assemble today, may hearts of fathers be turned to the coming generation. May fathers in our congregations discern the potential of the youth around them and let their hearts be turned to affirming them, encouraging them and enabling them on to their destiny in Christ. May this be the most memorable Father’s Day with fathers and children turned to each other in love and in honor, grasping the heavenly Father’s heart for the generations to glorify His intent.

“May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.” (Ps.115:14, TLB)

What God Is Determined To Do

The word “call” can be defined and studies made of its finer nuances. But what we need to see in this context is what the Deliverer of Israel wants to get across to them in the moment busy sidewalkof duress. “Call” in this instance is: “Jeremiah, pray for that which your God has determined to grant.” I don’t think it has to do with volume of voice or the ounces of tears shed. It has to do with knowing and getting into agreement with what God is determined to do in the families of Israel, in the nation of Israel. This is what God intended to do in Israel and what He intends to do in our nation: ‘Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth. 7  ‘I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel and will rebuild them as they were at first. 8  ‘I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned against Me and by which they have transgressed against Me. 9  ‘It will be to Me a name of joy, praise and glory before all the nations of the earth which will hear of all the good that I do for them, and they will fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace that I make for it.’  (Jer.33:6-9, NASB)

The Bridge Jesus Built

Bridge_peopleTo focus on the redemptive work of Christ means more than considering His death on the cross. We must also grasp the far-reaching results, the fullness of what He bought back for mankind. Religion has emphasized the trauma, sentiment has stalled in drama, but we dare not ignore the bridge Jesus built back to God’s original intent. That is how God’s glory will fill the whole earth ( Psa 72:19), sons will live out His original intent in their lifetime—all over the earth.

A Bible Formula

calling outIf there is a formula anywhere in the Bible, here is one: Jer 33:3  ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’  It appears that Israel, at this point, has nothing to look forward to but annihilation. But God gives Jeremiah the solution: call unto me. The formula seems to be: (1) call and (2) I will tell you great and mighty things which you do not know. We really do need to know what we do not know, so we really do need to call. What is not known at this point in time will stop the destruction when it does become known.

May The Lord Grant Abundant Supply

abundance1May the Lord grant His people abundant supply to not simply pay something on bills but to pay the bills–the total. And may He grant us the foresight and wisdom to only commit ourselves to spending what is within proper bounds for His purposes in us. May the Lord rebuke those entities that would attempt to put upon us that interest rate and that charge which is not legitimately ours to pay.

“And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,  So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,  Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”  Says the Lord of hosts;” (Mal.3:11, NKJV)

Only If You Die Or Give Up

Throughout the history of warfare it has been noted that when an attacker sees his enemy indicating any degree of retreat, it renews his vigor and purpose in the battle, pumping up ancient boxerseven more determination to destroy. It’s like a boxer in a ring when he has his opponent at a disadvantage. Both boxers are weary from the physical exertion of the fight but when one sees the other stagger, he seems to get a renewed sense of vigor and begins punching rapidly with all his might hoping that this is the point at which his opponent falls. An offensive posture and offensive action keep the enemy at bay. Recovery from the stagger is a must, not using it as an excuse. I once heard a Navy Seal say that one of their primary doctrines of warfare is that you can only be defeated if you die or if you give up.

Filled With The Holy Spirit

As the people of God assemble today, may they be filled and overflowing with His grace and His empowering Holy Spirit and hope like they were at Pentecost and may His Spirit overflow into every area of their lives and into the areas of responsibility they have and the relationships they have.
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:4, KJV)

“May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!” (Rom.15:13, Msg)

Just Fending Off Or Stopping Destruction?

Siege JerusalemAs God gives His mandate to Jeremiah, His mouthpiece to the people, missiles are being launched from siege machines. The pounding, hammering sounds of destruction are in the air. The people seem to have a mentality for retreat and survival in the present, not a mentality for the future and future generations. There is no mentality for gain, increase or growth but rather for getting relief from the present situation whatever price has to be paid. While they are taking structures apart to put up defenses for the present, the coming generation is surely wondering what will remain for their future and adopting attitudes that are nonproductive for future hope. There is no attempt to actually stop destruction, just attempts to try and fend off some of it.

No Place To Stop

There is no time or place for the present generation to stop preparations for the future—not even under duress. Simon Purvis tells of the ancient Romans who planted trees for structures and projects that future generations would build. They would plant a certain tree knowing that it would require many years before it could be harvested. They planted a variety of trees that trees childrenwould mature at various times and have various wood-densities to meet the needs of the future. The general mindset of the present generation appears to be to use up whatever we can (money, resources, people) to get through our lifetime. Watching an ad on TV recently, a picture of an infant came across the screen. The message read, “The best time to prepare for his future is 100 years before he is born.” In late winter, people begin preparing for a spring garden but they cease that preparation when the shoots begin to come up. They prepare a house for painting by scraping and priming but they stop the preparation when they begin to put on the paint. There is, however, never a point at which we cease preparing for future generations no matter what philosophical or eschatological paradigm is favored at this point of history. David prepared for Solomon and it is recorded that Solomon sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was firmly established. (1Ki 2:12) In comparison, Saul just used the present generation (1Sam.8:11-17). In those seven verses, the phrase “he will take” is used six times. (Also Prov.6:6-8; 13:22) It was David’s throne that was promised to last for generations. Is it any wonder that Saul’s did not?

Under Siege

When God spoke to Jeremiah, conditions were not escalating; they were already in full swing. Jerusalem was under attack. It was not hit and run, it was a siege. To say that Jerusalem was siege_Jerusalemunder siege was like saying the nation of Israel was under siege. A siege was set up with intent to stay until defeat and destruction of the enemy was complete. The Chaldeans were destroying the outer perimeter of Jerusalem and those whose houses were being destroyed on the outer perimeter were falling back to the inner city.  In the inner city, they were tearing apart their houses to build defenses. The Chaldeans had set up siege machines and battering rams. The enemy was so intent on destroying Jerusalem that they had begun using hammers and axes on the houses in order to tear them completely down and to render them completely useless. The word “house” here in Jer.33:4 refers to a literal house, but also to generations, families. The intent and result was that the present generation was being devastated and disheartened so that future generations would only have one choice: servitude.

Touch Of Healing

As the people of God assemble today, may they give and receive the touch of healing. May pain cease and desist. May disease stop its damaging progress and cease. May each one feel the touch of the Master’s Hand.

Thinking Past Attitudes

man thinkingLet’s get this down to daily.  It is going to take thinking past our frustrations as just being frustrations and realizing they are a signal to stop and find out what is not lining up with Father’s will in heaven at this moment!  It is going to take thinking past aches and pains being normal to see what needs to be addressed to bring Father’s order.  It is going to take  thinking past the predictions on the news to see Father’s plans in motion.  It is going to take daily thinking past attitudes and moods and atmospheres that are tolerated because they are familiar, so we realize the need to clear the air for His purpose and the advancing of His Kingdom.

Changing Our Minds

changing your mind

In our culture, when we hear the word “government,”  most people think politics.  However, when God says “government,” He thinks relationship.  When we hear “dominion”, we think aspiring to a throne, but when God says “dominion,” He thinks obedience.  Our thinking is really distorted if we think of dominion as arrogantly doing what we want, when we want.  That’s not dominion, that’s just ditzy-dingy!  We see why Jesus said, “Repent,” before He said “the Kingdom is in reach.”  It’s going to take changing our minds and thinking past our experience and our environment and our examples and our personal agendas to reach for the order of heaven and bring it into the earth.

(This is the tenth excerpt from Kathy’s SEEC Magazine article “Advancing The Kingdom Through Dominion.” Excerpts will appear on this page Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.)
