Hearts of Fathers to Children

FatherProdigalSonAs the people of God assemble today, may hearts of fathers be turned to the coming generation. May fathers in our congregations discern the potential of the youth around them and let their hearts be turned to affirming them, encouraging them and enabling them on to their destiny in Christ. May this be the most memorable Father’s Day with fathers and children turned to each other in love and in honor, grasping the heavenly Father’s heart for the generations to glorify His intent.

“May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.” (Ps.115:14, TLB)

Fathers Put Their Children on Their Shoulders

There is a statue in the Woodlands area just north of Houston. A child is standing on the shoulders of a man. The plaque at the base of the FatherChildShouldersstatue is a quote attributed to Sir Isaac Newton. It reads something like this: “The reason the present generation can see so far is because it is standing on the shoulders of the former generation.” Is the generation coming after us presently standing on their fathers’ shoulders? Does that generation even know that those shoulders are available? Have we taken that generation and lifted them, no matter what the cost, up and onto our shoulders? Are we expecting them to simply stand alongside us and inherit the same inadequacies and shortcomings we have been willing to live with? Some people rehearse to their children the failures and injustices and less-than-desirable qualities of their heritage. While some boldly abort the coming generation while they are still in the womb, some abort them in a more socially acceptable manner once they are out of the womb. In either case, the future has been robbed of their God-ordained potential. Perhaps it is the job of the mothers to push until they are born and then perhaps it is the job of the fathers to push up until they are securely standing on our shoulders.

A Piece of the Bigger Purpose

Whether we each realize it or not, our purpose is a piece of the bigger purpose that God is stewarding. Perhaps part of your purpose is being PieceOfPuzzleGod’s expression of mercy in an office or for you to be the medicine of healing because you can make others laugh.  Or maybe He placed your skills and personality as a connector to get people to solutions in a community.  Most of the time we are not aware of how God is using the details of our daily lives as a part of His bigger intention, but God watches over you and who you were born to be.  He also intends that you outlive anything that contradicts any facet of your multi-faceted purpose and fulfillment.

Anticipate God

“Everything looks to you in ANTICIPATION, and you provide them with food on a regular basis.” (Ps.145:15, NET) It is quite difficult to BibleTurnPageanticipate the provision or intervention of God if we are not looking to God and His Word. When someone has attempted to say something hopeful or positive about the future I have heard (from Christians) statements like: “But they said ‘such and such’ on the news”. “But the guy who works at my office said ‘such and such’.” “But I read an article on the internet (that was written by a complete stranger without any credentials) and it said ‘such and such’!” Hey, what about NOT looking everywhere else and what about saying: BUT GOD IN HIS WORD SAYS….!

Carrying a God-Purpose

(KG) Everyone breathing is carrying a God-purpose.  We are in 2016 to be sons and daughters of God making history in the earth.   Not one of SchoolBusPolicemanBoyus is insignificant or without a holy calling.  Whether we realize it or not, our purpose is a piece of the bigger purpose that God is stewarding.  You may be a school bus driver that God positioned in a sphere of protection over three children that the enemy’s trying to take out before they become a principal and mayor and police chief that they were born to be.  Perhaps you are raising a child that will affect the medical world in twenty years.  Maybe you are living in a particular county so that your taxes can help change it for a God-plan. God is bigger and better planned than the opposition that is against you.

The Anticipation Factor

If a preacher wants to get us really excited, all they have to do is quote 1Cor.2:9 – “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” It is then, out of our lack and loss, quite easy for us to come up with all manner of things for God to show us and tell us. But don’t rule out the Holy Spirit’s involvement: v.10  “BUT God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” We must be in relationship with Holy Spirit to have those things revealed. He is the agent of the things revealed. Human lack and research will not get it done. That might even cause us to completely miss the largeness and uniqueness of what God has in store. We do not have to wait for heaven to see them and to hear them. Holy Spirit is the power-factor, influence-factor, heart-change factor. He is even the anticipation-factor.

Repentant Thinking

ThinkingHandFace(KG) I came to a fuller understanding of biblical repentance meaning “to consider things differently and change your thinking”. My understanding was shifting drastically and I was beginning to think differently. That caused a passion for life and purpose and the future to stir my daily life.  In all that process, I was REPENTING and didn’t even know it. Now when I hear “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand,” it means, “Kathy, find out where you need to change your thinking if-and-when anything that God has seems beyond your reach.  Getting beyond contradictions of my misbeliefs opened new horizons!  I realized I was born again into this Kingdom that was not just “somewhere over the rainbow” someday, and I could have never walked in my life purpose  without those changes.  They were key understanding for me being able to do what I was born to do.

Hearts That Anticipate

AnticipationLookUpAs the people of God assemble today, may they turn their hearts, thoughts and considerations to who God is and to HIS capacity and begin to anticipate what only God can do in this morning’s meeting, in our personal lives and in our nation. May our hearts anticipate what we have never seen so that we call upon Him expectantly.

“But as for me, I will watch expectantly for the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation, my God will hear me.” (Mic.7:7)

The Next Horizon

HorizonMoonBlue
May you reach the next horizon with strength to spare and may you rocket into
the heart of the God-ordained participation that awaits you beyond that horizon.
May you realize the knowing and joy and fulfillment of participating with our
Lord and His purposed-people over that horizon.

Jesus said, “You’re tied down to the mundane; I’m in touch with what is beyond
your horizons. You live in terms of what you see and touch.
I’m living on other terms.” (Jn.8:23, Msg)
