Expectancy for the Coming Year

looking up
As the people of God assemble today may they join hands and hearts and look toward the coming year with expectancy for the purposes of the Lord in each other and the victorious intervention of the Lord in their behalf.

“Paul, Silvanus (Silas), and Timothy, to the assembly (church) of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah): Grace (spiritual blessing and divine favor) to you and [heart] peace.” (1Thess.1:1, Amp)

Soul-Conflicts and Ulcers

Soul-conflicts cause ulcers rather than faith. An “ulcer of the soul” is inflammation like agitation, offense, irritation, anger, fear, etc. A wound of the prayinggroupsoul is from our history or experience. Neither of those is the starting place for effectual prayer because “ulcers” and wounds can keep us from seeing from God’s perspective. A timely example is that it cripples our faith to pray for our nation if we think God will not interrupt hell’s assignments against our nation. Since 2017 is part of our watch, we can anticipate God’s intervention in our nation this year as we pray and neutralize contradictions that influence daily.

Connected to the Vine

The cell phone ad showed two young adults speaking who have just met. The young man says, “I felt there was a connection between us. Do you feel the same way?” But, the signal drops. She begins her positive response to him, but is not heard. The silence on the other end of the line confirms his worst fears of rejection. The message is that the future could be lost if one does not have the proper connection. It is of the utmost importance to be properly connected to the right party.  (Jn.15:5, Msg) [Jesus said,] “…When you’re joined with Me and I with you, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.” We are praying you discover daily that you are staying connected to Jesus, the Vine.

Agree With God and Interrupt Evil

Let us not be sabotaged by contradictions within our own thinking and beliefs. For example, a common misunderstanding among churched people is that we must expect and allow world conditions to get worse. However, the concept of passively allowing evil to be successful contradicts God’s Word and character. An unfailing principle of the Word is seedtime and harvest, whether it is good seed and good harvest or bad seed and bad harvest. So, world conditions get worse when evil sown comes to harvest. While that is a fact, the contradiction we need to be aware of here is that does not mean that getting worse is God’s will or original intent. We can agree with God and interrupt the sowing and reaping of evil. Thinking God intends to allow evil to succeed is contradictory to His character and principles, and that kind of mis-belief is a contradiction that causes conflict in our soul.
(This is the tenth excerpt from Kathy Gabler’s article “Contradicting Contradictions“.)

Concern for Safety

Concern for safety fills conversations as news broadcasts and depictions in movies portray upheavals in nations. Not only are many concerned about warriorangelthe security of our national borders but are also concerned about the safety of our homes. Thankfully, we have available a Power that is greater than the powers of darkness.  May Mighty God protect His people as they move about in public. May He keep them safe from harm and put angels in their path to protect them. May His hand suppress and prevent evil that lurks in darkness and subterfuge.  (Ps.139:3, Msg) “You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight.”  We are praying you discover daily that our gracious God is aware of your going out and your coming in.

Think According to God’s Word

If we just talk about what we sense or what is going on, that is like laying a ticking bomb in the laps of others instead of diffusing it! Anything that is timebombcontradictory to God’s will should be confronted with God’s Truth. The Truth is Jesus. The truth is His Word and character and purpose in earth as in heaven, and we can speak it and release it as a counterforce to contradictions, and it will make a difference. As believers and sons of God we cannot be more focused on conditions than the Truth. If we intend to pray in faith, we must think according to His Word and principles and character, instead of falling into upset over circumstances.

sunrisesnow(Melissa) 2017: The Game Changer #5 — What a great, great year to be alive! We GET to not only see the shift, we get to BE the shift. Yes, the glory of God is going to be not only seen, but known.  And it’s not because things just got that bad, it’s because things and people (this includes you) are now in place for undeniable God elements.  Get ready.

Get a Deep Breath

FreshbreathAs the people of God seek His face today may those whose hearts are heavy from failures, defeats and grief of the past lift their heads, get a deep breath and realize that they are part of the family of God and that they have strength and fellowship through Christ our Lord and the family of God to go on to victories in the coming days.
“But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.  4  With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! (Ps.3:3-4, Amp)
