Jesus Doesn’t Pull Backward
The Lord Jesus doesn’t pull people backward. With His Word and Holy Spirit, He propels them forward. People, memories and failures tend to pull us backward. Apostle Paul said (Phil.3:13), “I forget those things which are behind and I reach forward to those things which are ahead.” It is very difficult to reach forward intending to grasp the prize when we have armfuls of past clutter preventing progress. That “reach forward” in v.13 means to reach beyond the places we have stopped in the past. We will no longer stop at the roadblocks and barriers we have yielded to in the past. Paul said, “I press toward the goal in Christ Jesus.” We are praying you discover daily that you are forgetting what is behind so you can press toward the goal. To the Image of Christ
The overwhelming factor in God’s design is that He has purposed to bring each of us to the Image of Christ (Rom.8:29). (2Co 3:18) “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” The goal Paul spoke of is consistently out there before us. It IS attainable. But we will likely need to adopt Paul’s strategy: “forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Phil.3:13-14) We are praying you discover daily you are pressing toward the calling of God.
