Tares And Wheat

Wheat_TaresIn prayer the Lord gave me three things to share and a declaration for each. They are 1.) Tares and Wheat, 2.) Calling Things That Are Not and 3.) Incremental Change.

Tares And Wheat–When this subject is approached, it will likely be for the purpose of discussing eschatology. However, there is a principle here that we need to take a closer look at that could be advantageous to us well before the end of this age. It could even determine how some come to that end time in matters of preparedness. There are principles in Scripture that will help us well on our way to victory if we will take note of the priority and order they show us.

Mat 13:30  “Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.” (NASB)

(This is the first excerpt from Marty’s article “Tares And Wheat.” In the next few days, there will be excerpts dealing with “Calling Things That Are Not” and “Incremental Change.”)

Gates To The Fullest Future

Gates_gatesOur security is not in having laws and traditions to protect us, but in knowing Him who is absolute wisdom.  Principles hold true, but they get put in priority order by the wisdom of God in every situation.  Traditions can have us believing in our beliefs more than we believe in Him, and at that point His word and counsel have no power or effect in us or for us.  Our beliefs are not holy, He is.  Therefore, let us give respect and follow through to the gates our holy and wise God builds specifically to get us to the fullest future He desires.

Building Gates In Hard Places

Probably the hardest place to build a gate is in our traditional, established views of scripture, and unfortunately we could die on our own sword trying to defend our traditional beliefs simply because gate_rockthe letter of the law kills.  It is rather ironic that the letter of the law is so strong yet vulnerable to something as simple as a typo or language or culture or new revelation.   However, the spirit of the law, or the truth that is right and unchangeable in it, is not threatened by new gates to fuller understanding.  For instance, the scripture says, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”   The spirit of that law boils down to not deliberately deceiving and manipulating information against someone. However, our traditions add to the letter of that law and imply that we are being dishonest if we do not say everything we are thinking. When did getting everything off your chest become the definition of honesty? That more likely defines selfishness or stupidity. Also, the letter-of-the-law tradition can obligate us to answer anybody’s direct question, spilling out all we know and quoting “honesty is the best policy,” when silence would have been the wisest response.

Safe Or Risk?

open-gate1Sometimes a gate God builds is not a welcomed sight.  It looks like a risk to us or a scary unknown.  We feel like we have the option to decide to just stay safely within our fence and familiar boundaries.   The problem is that if we ignore the gates, we are locking ourselves into tradition just like the Pharisees.  We rarely see ourselves as Pharisees, but we too build personal traditions of men through the way we personally process instruction or the way we establish our own priorities or the way we come to our personal conclusions.  Our thought processes and priorities and conclusions are filters that can literally keep us from hearing what God is saying and thereby keep us refusing to acknowledge the Holy Spirit’s direction in our daily life.  So, “you make the word of God of none effect through your tradition, (KJV).  And you ignore God’s commands in order to follow your own teaching. “(CEV) Mark 7:13

New Thoughts, New Gates

Gate-WoodGod builds gates through a new thought, a new opportunity or a word of counsel.  After wearing a path around your fence lines looking for answers, a new gate is a welcomed sight.  One of my usual methods is to confront problems headon until they are resolved.  One day I distinctly heard the Holy Spirit say, “Kathy, confrontation is not always the best method for resolve.”  That was not a  “traditional thought” for me, and it gave me new direction.  I could suddenly see the wisdom of not approaching a friend of mine and laying everything out verbally.  Due to my friend’s temperament and personality, confrontation would be gas on their fire rather than water.  That word from God became a gate into a whole new set of tools for resolving problems.

New Gates

gate_newOur traditions can be excess baggage that we have to unpack for the journey through a new gate.  We need to unpack passionless pieces and old seasons and expired obediences, those acts that were once a mandate but lost their effectualness as times and circumstances changed.  Israel had many parameters for sacrifice.  They were all teaching-tools and types to anticipate and understand the coming Messiah.  All their animal sacrifices were blood that was shed for an exemplary nation until the Christ would come to shed His blood for all mankind.  An expired obedience would be to continue the ceremony after the type had been fulfilled.  That translates in our day as expired legalisms that want to impose on us the traditions of men instead of the freedom of Christ, like trying to breed a red heifer or build another temple or enforce religious calendar activities again.  When God provides a gate, expired goals won’t fit through it.

(This is the fouth excerpt [under the heading “New Gates”] from Kathy’s article “Gates In Our Fences” in Volume 16 Issue 4 of Marty & Kathy’s ministry magazine, SEEC Magazine.)

Gates Into The Future

There is wisdom in honoring healthy boundaries in life and not damaging borders of ownership or lines of good conduct or established ethics or moral limits, etc., however, a gate indicates access beyond, not damage to a border line.  Hopefully, I won’t be written off as just having a blasphemous fit, but I open gatethink we might be more mature sons of God if we view Acts as a beginning rather than an end.  Would we stay within our old fence lines if we saw ourselves as Bible characters instead of mere men in history?  Many will immediately fear I’m risking the curse for adding to the book, but the church world is probably in more danger of the “taking away” from the book curses because we see the Bible as a book that has a beginning and end like any other.  I am not talking about a new book of Mormon or revising the Canon, I am talking about the Bible’s legacy being the eternal and ongoing Word of God.  I am talking about having a part in the big picture in such a way that our life choices and accomplishments actually connect to God’s plan for a generation beyond our own or a town we don’t even live in or an election that hasn’t even registered candidates yet.  I pray we begin to see that we dare not lock down in traditions of the past and refuse to enter the gate into all that God has planned for us to do in the future and in our lifetime.

Old Fence Lines

old fence lineWhere we have come from did not supply all the answers we need, so why would we choose to not go forward?  Maybe we cling to our roots and beliefs for security, but wouldn’t it be wiser not to limit ourselves by clinging?   I am not saying where we have come from is to be disregarded and disdained.  We weaken our own foundation for the future if we despise and criticize and live in regret of our past.  Where we have come from is a beginning.  We are instructed in the Word of God not to despise  the time of small beginnings, but neither should we stay in past times and smallness.  The past is obviously not all we will need for the future.

Gates In Our Fences

While praying, I heard the Spirit of the Lord say He is going to put gates in our fences.  There is new ground He wants us to take that is beyond our fences, beyond our norms, beyond our paradigms, beyond our limitations and beyond our traditions.  He’s going to open new things to us and open us to new things.  I Gate_1know the Bible says there is nothing new under the sun, but sometimes we forget our God is not under the sun.  Besides that, just getting past misbeliefs can be a whole new world for us.  Going through a new gate is getting to change, getting to new horizons and getting to fulfillment, and its journey starts with a new thought that touches the future.

THE WORD OF HIS POWER

GOD doesn’t uphold (“to move by bearing; to keep from falling”) all things by the word of His mere considerations or musings but by the Word of His power. (Heb Seed Growing1:3) That Word is described as the Word of His power. His power produces His Word to us, to be active in us, alive in us, doing surgery in us, healing us, strengthening us and improving us. The Word of God is mighty in you because it is the Word of His power. Declare into the atmosphere that the Word of God is mighty in you and active in you and upholding you. The Word is a seed and is increasing in you. The effect of the Word of God in you is increasing in you, in your family, in your church, in your community and in your nation.

When Heb 1:3 says He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, one thing it is saying is that JESUS never misrepresented the Father. As the radiance of His glory Jesus did not glow but He lived out the character of God where it could be seen and benefited from. That is the purpose of the Word of His power working mightily in us.

(This is the last excerpt from Marty’s SEEC Magazine article, “The Word Is Mighty In You.”)

Your Big Brother Is Home

There was a little boy whose big brother went to war in Europe during WWII. His big brother had protected him from the neighborhood bully. But when the big brother left for Europe, the bully began to mistreat the little boy unmercifully, making his life completely miserable.

big brotherThere are people who have put forth effort and made attempts to get to goals that have been formed by convictions. Those convictions were set in their hearts by the movings of the Lord through teaching or prayer or prophecy. But circumstances have bullied you in order to stop your progress just as surely as a school bully stands in front of a smaller child. For some, even persons have bullied you emotionally and psychologically with their doubt, unbelief and skepticism.

BUT your big brother is home! He has come in the form of the powerful Holy Spirit to be with you and dwell in you so that “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” and He “will never leave you nor forsake you.”

“The Lord has sworn by His right hand and by His mighty arm: Surely I will not again give your grain as food for your enemies, and [the invading sons of] aliens shall not drink your new wine for which you have toiled;” (Isa.62:8, Amp)

THE LAW OF GROWTH AND INCREASE

God’s Word is working in us to improve us and increase us (Col 1:29). His Word is in you. His Word is a seed. A seed does not exist just to be a little round thing snuggled up in the ground. A seed exists to sprout, to push up out of the ground, to grow a stalk and put out leaves and blooms so that it may produce fruit and that fruit is meant to be of benefit to others. God’s Word is a seed in us and it is apples-on-treegrowing in us (Lk 8:11). A seed cannot stay as it is, it must increase (Jn 12:24). There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace…(Isa 9:7). The seed in the parable of the sower is the Word of God (Lk 8:11) and because the Kingdom government of Jesus cannot stay the same but must increase, that seed of His Kingdom must increase in us. It must increase in each of us so that it can affect our families, our churches, our communities and our nation. That’s why the seed is growing in us.

Keep Awake

Watching documentaries on TV about special forces, it is apparent that those soldiers go about their daily business in a very watchful manner. They are constantly looking about for anything that might possibly be a trap or a detriment to their mission. Eyes are constantly moving to discover an IED, a trip lion_prowlingwire or even an Infra Red beam that might set off an explosive. Those warriors remain vigilant or they pay a heavy price. That is likely the reason they walk out alive.

Concerning matters of our soul and our mandate, we must be vigilant. Peter urged believers to be sober and vigilant. Vigilant means “to keep awake; to watch.” I believe the urgency of the message calls for us to think along the lines of  “always” or even “constantly” because there is an enemy intent on our destruction. But we shall keep awake and watch… all day, every day that we not be taken in a trap.

“Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.” (1Pe.5:8, Amp)

COME UP HIGHER

When God says: For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isa 55:9), He is not mountain-topattempting to get us up under severe condemnation, He is offering an invitation to come up to where His ways and thoughts are so that we can know those ways and have those thoughts. Why would He do otherwise when going up to His ways and thoughts will bring glory to His name and cause the Kingdom to advance in the earth? He is saying that we are not quite there yet but just keep coming. He called Abraham up on top of the mountain and instructed him to “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever. (Gen 13:14-15)  Abraham had to get his eyes off himself and off his immediate failures and limitations and off the economic condition of the surrounding nations and off the hurts he received in his relationship with Lot. He had to lift his eyes to the Word of God, to the promises of God. Look up from where you are and get your eyes on the victories of the risen Christ and… what you can see, your children will inherit (Gen 13:15).

(This is the ninth excerpt from Marty’s SEEC Magazine article, “The Word Is Mighty In You.”)

Whose Report Will You Believe?

Often someone will walk up and say, “What is the Lord saying?” I think, most often, that the Lord is saying or asking, “Where are you going to stand? Will you Stand On Wordstand with the nation-wide news broadcasts or with reports of demographics or with unrighteous legislation or, in spite of it all, will you stand on my Word?” At the close of each service (and every night before retiring), we might should sing the words of that song, “Whose report will you believe? We will believe the report of the Lord!” We are not subject to robbers, corruption and terrorists, we are subject to the Word of God if we will agree with it. (Mt 18:19-20) We too are posed with this question: “Is the Lord’s power limited?”  Is the Lord’s power limited just a little bit in certain areas of disease or international crises? The answer is an emphatic, “NO!”. We live an overcoming life by the power of God because the living Word is alive and active within us. Col 1:29  For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me

Contend For The Word The Lord Has Given You

army campContend for the word the Lord has given you.
1. CONTEND: “to excite oneself against a foe; to wage war.”
“…I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. BEGIN TO POSSESS IT, and engage him in battle.” (Deut.2:24, NKJV)

2. WAGE WARFARE: “expedition; campaign”
“This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,” (1Tim.1:18, NKJV)
Hint: The words “expedition” and “campaign” should be sufficient terminology to help us understand that contending for our word isn’t going to be just a day excursion. You’re going to have to take more than just your lunch.

3. HEED: “to attach oneself to; be be given to or addicted to; to devote thought and effort to”
“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;” (2Pe.1:19, NKJV)

Living Like We Have A Lord And Savior

Y in roadGod’s Word in Heb 4:12 is not “penetrating to the dividing line of the soul and the spirit, and of joints and marrow, exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart” so that we can feel condemnation, but so we can get into agreement with the Word of His power. Getting into agreement with the Word is our living in such a way that the principles and values of the Word are evident in our lives. It will result in our living like we have a Lord and Savior.

(This is the seventh excerpt from Marty’s SEEC Magazine article, “The Word Is Mighty In You.”)

THE WORD DIVIDES BETWEEN SOUL AND SPIRIT

A two-edged sword was so desirable in ancient battle because it cut coming and going and it cut right and left. The Word cuts like a two-edged sword to divide between the dominance of the soul and the spirit of a

sword_double edged

sword_double edged

person. That continual drive of soulishness that feeds on carnal tendencies is brought into check by the power of the Word. At the time the Word precisely cuts and divides, we have an opportunity to respond to the Word and comply with it. Our responding and complying pushes down the dominating soul and allows our spirit to rise and grow with the Word. As the Word increases in our lives, sin’s ability to dominate decreases for sin shall not have dominion over you. (Rom 6:14)

Consider The Rainbow

When you consider a rainbow–anyone can see it and even scientifically know how it is done, but do you know Who did it?  Beyond the obvious, the real beauty is relationship and the real impact is what is being Rainbow_MG_Sept2013said without words.  The rainbow is an awesome promise that what we have outlived does not have to be relived again.  Thank God, the past does not dictate my future.  His mercies are new every morning.

“I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.” (Gen.9:13)

God Doesn’t Ask Questions Looking For Information

God doesn’t ask a question because He is looking for information. He asks questions because He already has the information. He asks questions to get the person being asked to realize the weight of the information. In Num 11:23 The Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord’s power limited?” Evidently the Lord had to ask the question which begged the answer because Moses had been talking and acting as though the Lord’s waterfallpower is indeed limited, or perhaps he was beginning to consider someone else’s opinion on the subject. Moses must come to the realization of the information so he can decide where he is going to take a stand. Instead of getting all up under condemnation and feeling badly for allowing such a false view of God to creep in upon his considerations, Moses must say, “Wait a minute. God’s power is not limited, nor has it ever been!” Come up to a higher view than the one that is dragging you down.

The Word Is Alive And Active

If you know someone who is living outside the Kingdom of God but they have had the Word preached to them or they have been taught a scripture or two, take hope, for that Word is alive and active. Once the Word is in them, it cannot be extracted. They may presently be yielding more and more to Roman Swordtheir soul drives than they do to the Word but the Word penetrates between soul and spirit and our job is to pray they will respond to the life of the Word at those moments when there is a cleaving between the soul and the spirit. Sins of the flesh, crime, even prison cannot nullify or extract that Word.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb.4:12, NKJV)

Enabled To Reach

father-childHave you ever been in a swimming pool and reached for a leaf only to have it move away from you because of the movement of the water under your hand, still out of reach? It seemed to be just beyond the reach of your fingers and only a small amount of effort would bring it into your grasp, yet it evaded you. I have also seen a parent holding a child and extending them forward so they might reach something otherwise unreachable. We are not dependent upon our reach alone. In Christ, in His purposes and plans, which include sons/daughters of the Most High, we are enabled to reach and shall reach what has been unreachable before now. Just as the parent held the child out so its little hand was able to grasp, our Lord wants us to grasp that which is within His Kingdom purposes.
