It Is The Growing Season

SeedlingComingUpOn the way to church Sunday morning I noticed many plants coming up out of the ground.  From just a seed, they had pushed their way through the resistant soil.  That seed could not be seen down in the ground but it was there developing and pushing and coming up.   As the seed began to sprout, the tiny plant began to push and push toward the light.  There is an unseen pathway that leads from the seed to the surface of the ground where the light has drawn it so that it might grow, mature and bring forth the plant, the tree, the fruit that the seed had in it all along; it just needed to push along that unseen path and extend into the light to be able to release what was in it all along.  We are going to see seeds come forth that were planted in our lives, the lives of family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, former church members. A seed came into existence to grow, not just sit and do nothing.  It is the growing season—expect the seed to grow.
“But as for that [seed] in the good soil, these are [the people] who, hearing the Word, hold it fast in a just (noble, virtuous) and worthy heart, and steadily bring forth fruit with patience.” (Lk.8:15, Amp)

Hold Desperately To The Word Of God

The blimp bobbed a bit and then shot skyward, in spite of its bulk, as the wind imagepicked it up like a child’s toy and handled it without difficulty. All of the crew had let go of their lines except for one lone worker who realized too late that he was above the limit of safety for letting go. My heart leapt and I hollered out encouragement for the poor fellow to hold on. It was readily apparent that the frightened lad was “holding fast” to the line that was his only hope for safety from death. He maintained a determined hold on that line, for what seemed an eternity, until the pilot was finally able to set the behemoth safely back down.
In like manner, we must absolutely “hold fast” to the Word of God which we have heard. Scrambling about, simply and desperately reaching for the handiest thing will never suffice. We must hold to the Word of God in order to be set down in the place of safety. There is no substitute or replacement for the life-saving Word of God.

Luk 8:15 But as for that [seed] in the good soil, these are [the people] who, hearing the Word, HOLD IT FAST in a just (noble, virtuous) and worthy heart, and steadily bring forth fruit with patience. (Amp)
