Believe in the Rock

Emails and Face Book posts definitively describe “this” which is expected to happen and “that” which is said to be inevitable. But before any of those persons or entities or their agendas existed, Jehovah God said, “I lay in Zion a Chief Cornerstone” (1Pe. 2:6). Jesus is the Rock (1Cor.10:4) and He is greater than anything that opposes you, your family, your church, your community or this nation. Rom.9:33, Amp — “Behold I am laying in Zion a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense; And he who believes in Him [whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] will not be disappointed [in his expectations].”

Living Stones

As the people of God assemble today may there be people who realize that is where they belong and allow God to set them in as a living stone to be a viable part of the local vision.

“Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life, in which you’ll serve as holy priests offering Christ-approved lives up to God.” (1Pe.2:6, Msg)

Discussing The Rock

Smith BoulderDiscussing The Rock

What percentage of the minutes and hours of conversation over the last week did you spend discussing and describing the things that seem to be threatening the nation and the church? After calculating that, then calculate what percentage of time was spent discussing Jesus the Rock. I am certainly not advocating we stick our head in the sand. Being informed is wisdom but negative headlines are not supposed to be the major focus and attention-getter for the child of God. David mentioned his enemies in the Psalms but they were not his major focus. He said things like, “From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, the Lord’s name is to be praised” (Ps 113:3) That would take up a great deal of time.
