Understanding and Speaking

MARTIN GABLER—The sons of Issachar understood the times in which they lived, understood what was being said by the rulers and cultures of the times. Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do… (1Ch 12:32). They were able to speak more than just their tribal, colloquial tongue. They both understood and spoke the understandings of culture, politics and science. They were then able to articulate those matters to their tribe (v.32) so that action could be taken upon their wisdom. Their knowledge made them profitable to their families, their tribe and their nation.
