He refused to continue to succumb to the elements and connected himself to a higher level of dealing with those things that affected his health. Unfamiliar things signaling progress from an age to come were feared and not welcome. Those who had no desire to connect any differently, who did not intend to change, violently rejected such a practical approach. Jesus said, (Jn.15:5) ”I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.” Jesus wants to be connected to us. The cell phone ad showed two young adults speaking who have just met. The young man says, “I felt there was a connection between us. Do you feel 
the same way?” But, the signal drops. She begins her positive response to him, but is not heard. The silence on the other end of the line confirms his worst fears of rejection. The message is that the future could be lost if one does not have the proper connection. It is of the utmost importance to be properly connected to the right party. (Jn.15:5, Msg) [Jesus said,] “…When you’re joined with Me and I with you, the harvest is sure to be abundant.
