Which You Do Not Know

Astonishingly, the “which you do not know” (Jer.33:3) part is not with reference to anything that has been kept secret or that has not existed here-to-fore. This is not the first time Jeremiah has heard of Jehovah’s desire to deliver and restore Israel. “Which you do not know” is, in fact, something Jeremiah does not now know because it is now covered up and overwhelmed with present circumstances and everyone’s conclusions. The sounds of destruction, conversation of people in dismay and the obvious presence of the enemy’s army are so loudly proclaiming destruction that Jeremiah has forgotten what he once knew and is, therefore, unable to proclaim it, let alone act on it. The desire of Jehovah has been displaced with other considerations and conclusions. But even before there is one ounce or semblance of relief, Jeremiah is required to vocally come into agreement with that which God is determined to grant, no matter appearances or opinions.
