Wisdom Absent In Victim Mindset

It’s possible to hear more talk about victims around the church than sons; victim of circumstances, of poverty, of illness, of experience and of devils.  Even hand on headpeople’s eschatology can make them a victim if they believe they’re helpless in a deteriorating ecology and economy and hopeless in a world that cannot be what God created it to be and they cannot expect to overcome darkness but must eventually cry “uncle” and escape. Then victim is a logical condition, but it’s not a son’s condition. There is no denying that we can be victimized by experiences in life.  We can be done wrong, attacked and suffer pain and injustice, but there is still no wisdom in taking on a victim mindset of never being able to overcome the damage done.

(This is an excerpt from an article by Kathy Gabler entitled “Offense: The Kingdom In Action” in which she talks about the advantage of moving from merely a defensive strategy to an offensive strategy.)
