Self-government keeps us from agreeing with powers of darkness that use emotions.  Self-government keeps us from spiritual wickedness in high places that influences thoughts.  The beginning basics are (1) we have to know right to recognize wrong and (2) we have to choose right to defeat wrong. Consistently choosing right is the pulse of self-government.  Man is built to control himself by choice.  There are many self-disciplined and diligent people who display self-government and  do not even believe in God.  The point of difference we need to recognize is that self-government does not necessarily equal right government.  Only if it originates in the Spirit of God, only if it is a fruit of His Spirit, can we be assured of right government. Only the fruit of His Spirit will bring His results through our lives.
